Founder and CEO, The Renowned Studio
Star Washington founded the Renowned Studio in 2011 after deciding to have a film
home of her own. Together, she and her new creative team opened the doors to the studio in
hopes to find innovative ways to watch films. Washington keeps the team on tasks. She has the
final say in most operations. She approves the set design, costumes, and director. Sometimes she
is the director, as well. She is involved and hands-on in every aspect of the company. She is the
spokesperson. Washingtons studio won two Oscars for the set design in Sadies Killer (2015)
and for script writing The Red Bow (2013).
Washingtons professional career started 20 years ago when she attended Columbia
University for a film degree. After graduation, Paramount Studios recruited Washington as
production assistant and intern. From 2002-2004 Washington wrote for Paramount and worked
on films like How to Loose a Guy in 10 Days and The Stepford Wives. By 2005, the studio
promoted her to assistant director because they believed she did well in illustrating their
vision. She then became a director for the studio in 2008. Between 2006-2011, Washington
coordinated the Sundance Movie Festival where she met most of her Renowned Studio creative
team.
