Child Protection
Awareness Training
The DEC Children protection
awareness training was mandatory to
proceed to the next professional
experience. The Certificate certifies I
have the knowledge to keep children
safe within and outside of the school
community.
The certificate ensures I know
how to keep students safe in
the classroom and prevent
any situations that may make
the students feel unsafe. The
training provided me with
critical information in how to
deal with students who may
be in unsafe environments,
and the protocol to following
accordingly (4.4).
The certificate ensures I have met the
requirements to understand the
professional ethics and responsibilities
I hold as an Educator. The Children
Protection Awareness Training provides
teachers with examples and strategies
to deal with students in unsafe
situations.
The training provided me with the
skills and knowledge of how to comply
by the NSW legislation and policies in
regards to mandatory reporting.
This certificate provides information on
how to maintain students safety and
wellbeing, it provides strategies to use
when faced with experiences that
I can now competently meet
the professional ethics and
responsibilities of a teacher if
a situation where to arise
where a student approaches
me with information that
must be recorded and
reported. I understand my
legal responsibility as a
professional, including duty of
care. The training has
improved my understanding
on how to keep children safe,
include: Duty of care, types of abuse
and warning signs, overall student
safety, supportive and secure
environments.
