5.1
Assess student learning
Demonstrate understanding of
assessment strategies, including
informal and formal, diagnostic,
formative and summative
approaches to assess student
learning.
This artefact is two
Mathematics
assessments used for
the year ones during
my last professional
experience.
The summative assessment tasks were
used to show students understanding and
learning of the unit.
By using summative assessment tasks I
was able to review and evaluate what the
students know and what the students did
not know.
I assessed student learning by
using summative assessment at
the end of the unit (APST: 5.1).
5.2
Provide feedback to students
on their learning
Demonstrate an understanding of
the purpose of providing timely
and appropriate feedback to
students about their learning
5.4
Interpret student data
Demonstrate the capacity to
interpret student assessment data
to evaluate student learning and
modify teaching practice.
By doing this I am able to recognise where I
need to be more explicit with my own
teaching for students to comprehend the
concept.
From these assessment pieces I was able
to review the students responses and
provide constructive and positive feedback
(two positives and one negative) to
encourage student participation and
engagement.
After reviewing the students
assessments I was able to
provide positive and constructive
feedback to the student about
their learning and understanding
(APST: 5.2).
With guidance and assistance
from my mentor I was able to
interpret student assessment data
to evaluate their learning and
understanding. I was also able to
review and modify my own
teaching practices (APST: 5.4).
