Old man/woman: God keep you safe.
{Looks up at Henrik as Henrik leaves}
Mama: Annemarie, you may go to bed if you want to. It is very late.
{Mama serves tea as she whispers to Annemarie}

Nazi 1: We have observed, that an unusual amount of people have

gathered at this house. What is your excuse?
{Speaks with a proud air in his voice}
Mama: There has been a death. It is always our custom to gather
and pay respects when a family member dies.
{Nervous and tensed but trying not to show it}

Nazi 2- I do know your customs. And I know that it is the custom to
pay ones respect by looking you loved one in the face. It seems odd
to me that this coffin is so tightly shut. Why is it not open? Let us
open it and take one last look at Great-Aunt-Birte.
{Rubs fist against the coffin}
{Kirsti tumbles down the stairs and knocks down the Nazis. She is
about to give away the secret.}
Nazi 1: Whoa!
Kirsti: You know what . . .
{Ellen gets the presence of mind and dresses up as Great-Aunt-Birte
and comes to haunt the Nazis}
{Nazis run away}
{Peter gets up and opens the Bible.}
Peter: I will read a psalm
O praise the Lord.
How good it is to sing psalms to our God!
How pleasant to praise him!
The Lord is rebuilding Jerusalem;
he gathers in the scattered sons of Israel.
It is he who heals the broken in spirit
and binds up their wounds,

he who numbers the stars one by one. . .

{Old man\woman chants silently. Peter reads solemnly}
Peter: Now, it is time.
{Very boldly}
