Silk comes from the
larvae of the silk
moth. It spins a
cocoon around itself
in order to pupate
into a moth.
Silk is a luxurious fabric with
a shimmering appearance.
It has a beautiful drape and
is used for formal clothes,
underwear and ties.
The cocoon is softened with
steam and hot water.
Silk is absorbant and
comfortable to wear.
The thread can then be
unwound and used for
weaving
