The definition of 'Noxious' is "injurious to physical or mental health" or
"harmful, poisonous or very unpleasant". In addition to these definitions, it
would be best to add "emotional health" as something which can be affected
by such energies.
Noxious Energy, Ghosts etc..
The question of what exactly noxious energy is and where it comes from is a complex
one that depends on your belief system for an answer.
If you feel that your environment is external to you, then you will conceive of noxious
energy as something out there that can harm you. Your picture of the source of this
energy and how it manifests will depend on your educational and cultural background.
The more strongly you believe in scientific explanations, the more rational your con
ception will be.
If on the other hand, you are more metaphysical, believing that things are not always
as we see them, then you will believe that humans take an active role in creating their
own environment, and that means EVERYTHING in it, including the bad stuff like nox
ious energies.
Ghosts and Discarnates
Ghosts are often associated with areas which do not feel good to live in. To many peo
ple, the concept of a ghost is easier to grasp than the concept of negative or noxious
energies. However, ghosts are just as 'real' as anything else. They do exist and they
can interfere with your environment.
It will be worthwhile to take just a few moments to discuss what ghosts are. Firstly, al
though there are numerous good explanations of ghostly activities, there is no one sin
gle universally accepted definition of what a ghost is.
In our work at Sixth Sense Consulting, Inc, we take the view that a ghost is simply the
spirit of a dead person (or animal) which has, for one reason or another, not moved on
from this Earth plane as it should do.
Frequently, we find that the reason for this is due to
fear of moving on, or lack of understanding of what
their situation is. Sudden death often leaves a ghost
behind who cannot comprehend that they are dead.
We have found that this definition is good and has
served us well.
Not all ghosts are malevolent in intent. Indeed, most
of the ghostly sightings seem to indicate that the
ghost has little if any contact with the physical world
that you and I inhabit.
A ghost may haunt a place (meaning that it has a
tendency to to be associated with one particular location), but few of them have specif
ic intent to do anything to interact with us. We might feel indications of their presence;
Why have your space cleared?
The importance of living and working in an environment which is conducive to humans
and actively promotes wellbeing cannot be overestimated.
The common term for places which need energetic treatment of one type or another is
that they are geopathically stressed.
The first major studies of areas negatively affecting health (see Pohl, Hartmann, Curry
and Bachler) found that there was a definite correlation between location and incidenc
es of illhealth, particularly cancer.
You would not consider only cleaning your house once every ten years would you?
And so it is exactly the same with the energies in your home. You should, ideally, look
to keep them clear on a reasonable schedule.
It used to be that we recommended a clearing once every six months.
However, the changes in the energies of the Earth and other disruptions have brought
about a situation where, at the time of writing, we urge people to have 4 clearings a
year.
Of course, the precise timetable will depend on the activities and the people who in
habit the environment.
Your environment should never get to the point of being bad.
Any detrimental energy will have an impact upon people to one degree or another.
For example, the effects may not be evidenced in obvious illhealth or a certain dis
ease. It could be that it manifests in continued low levels of health such as coughs and
colds or headaches or other symptoms.
Having your space clear is important not only in the home. It is of equal importance in
the workplace.
Some businesses, for example, have many ill employees in one section or they suffer
a greater turnover of staff for no apparent reason. It could be that there are more acci
dents in one area than another.
All such incidences can be caused by detrimental energy affecting the building and
those who work in it. It might also be the cause of a business not thriving or doing less
well than expected. After all, if people can find a house unattractive without knowing it,
the same reaction can take place towards a business as well.
Are you the type of person who just can't stand to shop? Or maybe there are certain
stores you just refuse to linger in. If this is true, you may be sensing noxious energies.
Retail businesses can increase their sales by making their premises energetically at
tractive to the public. The frequency of space clearing in these circumstances will de
pend on the amount of traffic through the store and the type of business it is.
Schools can also suffer from detrimental energies.
In these places it can show itself as worse behavior than nor
mal, poor grades, or illness and lethargy (in the staff and well
as the students). There may be areas of the school subject to
greater vandalism or general mistreatment than others.
In all such instances, having the area checked for the pres
ence of noxious energies would be beneficial.
In other words, the main reason for having your space cleared is to
help you to live in an environment which allows you to be as
healthy and whole as possible. Once you accept the concept of
detrimental or noxious energies, this idea of regular work is an ob
vious step to take.
Plutarch
It has been known for a long time that not every part of the Earth is equally beneficial
to everyone. For example, in the 2nd Century BC, Plutarch wrote,
'Men are affected by streams of varying potency issuing from the Earth. Some of
these drive people crazy or cause disease or death, the effects of others is good,
soothing and beneficial.'
(Plutarch was a Greek, born in about 46 AD and was a historian, biographer and es
sayist.)
The Romans also had the concept of the ‘genius loci’, or guardian spirit of a place.
Usually shown as a snake, the idea was that this protective spirit should be placated
and given gifts (the idea of tossing coins in wells is from this idea).
The Vikings
The Vikings were, amongst other things, great believers in the role of the unseen spir
its on the environment and the life of man.
The spirits of the earth were called earth sprites or Landvaettir. It was thought that
these were necessary for the health of the community. Cooperation with them could
bring wealth, whilst crossing them could bring death.
So aware were they of the importance of these 'hidden folk' that
an old Icelandic law protected them.
It stated that ships were forbidden to have the fearsome carved
heads on the prows when land was sighted for fear that they
would frighten the Landvaettir and the land would be rendered
'alfreka', making it spiritually dead by frightening away the spirits.
Another way of driving away the spirits was through the use of a
Nidding Pole upon which curses were carved and atop of which
was placed a horse's skull.
Nostradamus
Much later on, Michel Nostradamus (15031566) wrote
'Where plants perish and animals are absent, there you also should not live, the
place is unhealthy. You will experience disharmony and lose your poise. When you,
however, find the place where happy, vital and healthy people live, and many old
folk are in good health, than stay there. You will soon do without medicine or physi
cians. The mysterious forces of Earth will make you healthy.'
It was doubtless noted by many others prior to Nostradamus and we still have such a
sensation today when we can go into an area and just 'know' that the place is no good
for us.
If you doubt that, then just ask anyone who has been to any of the Nazi death camps
and ask them what they felt about the place.
The idea of needing to keep one's space clear of streams, forces or earth spirits obvi
ously goes back a long way. It can be seen in the various ideas which have been pro
posed about these forces in the earth.
Returning to the Vikings for a moment, one of their concepts was that of Önd. This,
they believed, was the power behind life and growth, and one of the directions from
which it could be accessed was deep within the earth; the Chthonic Önd.
It was believed that this could affect consciousness and that a ritual or ceremony could
charge up a place with Önd, thereby making it beneficial.
The Chinese
This idea of some sort of forces within the earth being able to influence us (for either
good or bad) is also illustrated in the Chinese culture. The Chinese believe that 'sha'
and 'chi' are present in various strengths in the earth and that every effort should be
made to draw in or live where the energy is good (chi) and avoid or negate the detri
mental energy (sha) through the application of Feng Shui principles.
However, there is a clear distinction which should be made between the Chinese and
the Viking views.
Where the Norse believed that the 'hidden folk' were pretty much stable in the area, the
Chinese believed that chi energy was constantly flowing through the land and that it
was necessary to maintain that flow in order to avoid blockages (sha) when the detri
mental aspects of such stagnation would then affect people.
Buildings and the Land
There is some reason to believe that buildings used to be placed with more regard to
the environment than nowadays.
There was an effort made to work with the physical space in such a way as to create a
more harmonious environment. The loss of understanding of this principle may, in part,
account for the problem of Sick Building Syndrome, or SBS.
It has long been the contention of geomancers and many
dowsers that underground water is responsible for a large
proportion of the effects of geopathic stress. Some have
classified the underground streams and given them terms
such as good or bad, black, sha (from Feng Shui), noxious
or detrimental.
Underground water frequently moves through very narrow
fissures in the rocks below the surface. Apart from moving
laterally in such veins it can also be forced upwards until it
breaks through the surface as a spring. When blocked the
water makes a blind spring or dome of water beneath the
surface, with streams radiating back and away from the
center, escaping where they can.
It is true that certain measurable effects take place above underground water flows
which include radio frequencies and magnetic and electrical fields. Some individuals
will certainly be susceptible to such things and will react adversely to them. Such state
ments are not supposition, but can be easily verified with sensitive instruments.
Early practitioners in this field assumed that the water was there to stay and advised
sufferers to move.
Later, physical methods were devised which moved the watercourse to a location bet
ter for the inhabitants. Most methods now associated with dealing with underground
water emphasize the metaphysical aspects and involve nothing more than focused in
tent to move the water course.
Water is very important. After all, we are made up of mostly water.
The ease with which water can 'pick up' and transmit energies such as thoughts has
been explored extensively by Dr Emoto in his books which show the way that the ele
ment reacts to various stimuli. His pictures demonstrate a wide range of reactions.
Now, the important point is as follows.
Imagine an underground stream running beneath your house. Further upstream from
More and more often the term 'ley lines' is heard. In the context of this book, these
things are often suspected of being responsible for the need to clear your space.
However, what people really mean when they use this term
is not particularly clear. The following paragraphs will help
explain this reason for this problem.
The term ley was originally used by Alfred Watkins, most
notably in his book The Old Straight Track (1925). Accord
ing to Paul Devereux (editor of The Ley Hunter journal), a
ley should not be longer than 25 miles and ideally should
have a minimum of five points of prehistoric significance.
These, according to Watkins, were (in descending order of
importance):
Mounds (such as burial mounds)
Stones (such as monoliths and standing stones)
Circular moats
Castles
Beacons
Traditional wells
Churches
Crossroads of ancient tracks
Road alignments (especially over a mile)
Fords
Tree groups (especially those on ancient named hilltops)
Single trees (only if ancient and named)
Notches (i.e. Sharp ‘dips’ in an otherwise smoothly curved hillside)
Track junctions
It is perhaps not necessary to add that, if the common concept behind straight lines is
that they act as paths for 'something', then having your home on such a line is probably
not a good idea. You need to do something about it!
Vilsbiburg
In 1929, Gustav von Pohl, a respected dowser, began a
survey of the small Bavarian town of Vilsbiburg, to sys
tematically plot deaths from cancer and relate them to
underground veins of water.
The reason this small Bavarian town was chosen was that it had the highest cancer
death rate of any German town.
This 1929 survey was carried out because of the interest raised by a survey by Winzer
and Melzer in Stuttgart in the 1920s which seemed to make a correlation between un
derground faults and cancer deaths.
von Pohl did not talk to any of the people and he did not enter any of the houses. He
was given a police escort so that he might be undisturbed. He marked on a map those
houses where his dowsing indicated that the inhabitants were likely to get cancer.
Survey Results
The survey of this town of over 8,000 people was carried out under this careful supervi
sion of the mayor and local police. There were 565 houses, about 900 apartments and
3,500 inhabitants in the survey.
The results were then compared to the plotting of the cancer deaths by the medical
advisor.
It was found that cancer deaths had an extremely strong correlation with these under
ground veins of water which von Pohl had dowsed.
In some 42 houses there were seven deaths from cancer recorded. When lead sheets
were placed below these beds with high death rates, the lead showed colored areas
indicative of something affecting it which instruments of the time could not detect.
Confirmation
Interestingly enough, von Pohl's conclusions were verified over 40 years later by a sci
entist named Jacob Stängle who had invented a device called a scintillation counter.
This was a very sensitive instrument able to measure variations in background radia
tion.
During experimentation he discovered that it showed very precisely a sharp increase in
radiation over underground water veins. In mapping a small area of Vilsbiburg again,
he found that he obtained such reactions where von Pohl had dowsed underground
water.
This agreement gave strong support to the idea, now widely accepted, that geopathic
zones are real and not imaginary.
Von Pohl's survey stimulated interest among the central European medical profes
sions.
In Stettin, the Medical Officer, Dr. Hager, undertook his own city survey of 5,348 can
cer cases. He used dowsing to identify geopathic stress (GS) lines.
Amongst those homes he checked were three of elderly people. In one which had very
strong GS lines, 38 people had died there in the past 5 years of cancer. In a home with
only moderate GS, only two had died from cancer. In a home with no GS lines, nobody
had died from cancer in the past five years.
Some places were found to be particularly dangerous. For example, 5 houses had re
sulted in over 120 cancer deaths, an average of 38 cancer deaths over 21 years!
In our own work, we have come across places which have proven unhealthy to the in
habitants. In one particular case, we were asked to investigate a bedroom. We found a
very strong line crossing the bed at roughly where the the chest would be when sleep
ing. We suggested that anyone sleeping there would probably suffer badly from illness.
We were then told that the owner's wife had in fact died from cancer of the lungs about
6 months previously.
This Austrian lady was a teacher (and dowser) who became interested in the reasons
for illness or learning difficulties in her students.
In a sense she was taking von Pohl's interests one stage further. Instead of concentrat
ing solely on illness, she was concerned to discover if there was any common thread
for her students who were underachieving.
It was due to one of her pupils (who seemed always to be ill) saying that the doctor
could find nothing wrong which caused Kathe to begin her quest.
Having dowsed that the problem was where they were
sleeping and correcting that, she took the results to the
Director of Educational Services in Salzburg. As a re
sult of this, she was encouraged to investigate similar
problems in a wider area.
Eventually, she was able to work over most of Austria,
discovering links between geopathic stress and illness.
In her words she said that
"Again and again it emerged that pupils who were always tired, those who were the
slowest, those who had the greatest difficulty in concentrating, those who were the
most forgetful and the most difficult, and those who were always ill, were all victims
of interference zone crossings."
(by "interference zone crossings" she is referring to places where either underground
streams cross or where there is a Curry Grid crossing. See the later chapter for an ex
planation of Curry Grids.)
History
In the 1970's, she dowsed 3,000 homes in 15 different countries and interviewed
12,000 people. She concluded that 95% of the problem children she investigated slept
in beds or worked at desks which were over harmful sites in the earth.
Further Information
All of her work is welldocumented, and she wrote a book called Earth radiation: The
startling discoveries of a Dowser which described her findings in more detail.
A note about the various earth grids is in order before we look at the most wellknown
of them.
The grids have become more accepted (that is, there is some general agreement that
something is 'there') since the idea of the Earth as a living thing in its own right.
(This is known as the Gaia Hypothesis, first expounded by James Lovelock in 1979 in
his book, "GAIA A New Look at Life on Earth".) As human beings have grids
(meridians and auras), so it seemed logical to accept that the Earth would also have
something similar. But it is not quite as simple as that.
Firstly, there is some confusion about what these earth grids might be. Then there is
the question of what role they might play in the health of humans. Lastly, there is the
rather vexing question of how 'real' they actually are.
To begin with, there are an increasing number of grids which have been 'found' in one
way or another. There are the following major types: Curry, Hartmann, BeckerHagen
UVG, 120 Earth Star, and Blue. In addition, there are also Michael, Mary, Athena and
Apollo lines.
The idea behind most of these is that there are invisible, but dowseable, lines of ener
gy running within the earth. What they are composed of is still a matter of debate. Ra
dioactivity, cosmic rays, or some as yet unknown form of energy are postulated. But
there is no proof to date.
The origin of these grids is also open to debate. For example,
the Curry and Hartmann grids (which are looked at in more
detail later on) are stated as having very precise origins.
The 120 Earth Star grid map, however (and it's derivative, the
Blue Grid), is a way of explaining the location of all the major
centers of timespace distortion, disappearances,or important
physical points on the earth. It is an attempt to explain geo
physical placement rather than human health.
It should be noted that these grids are not the same as ley lines.
Dr. Manfred Curry is credited with the discovery of this global grid, although a Dr. Witt
mann was his codiscoverer.
A Swiss Physician, Curry found that there was a grid aligned northwestsoutheast, the
lines of which are between 15 to 20 feet apart. The lines of the grid are, apparently,
alternately positive and negative in character.
Some researchers state that the grid is 2.75 meters (about 9 feet) apart with wave
lengths of approximately 0.4 meters
(about 18 inches). Medically significant
lines are thought to be found 50 meters
(47 yards) apart.
Grid Origins
It is believed by some that this grid is
terrestrial in origin and is in some way
related to the core magma radiations of
the earth, its rotation and magnetic field.
The lines reach hundreds of feet into the
air yet may only be an inch wide. The
intersection of the lines is where the ef
fects are felt most.
There are some symptoms which have
been associated with this grid. They are:
headaches, depression, sleep disturbances, tendency to inflammation, rheumatic dis
eases, cancer and waking at about 2 am.
The grid energy (either positive or negative) can intersect with the Hartmann grid and
with the energy of underground water.
However, according to one researcher, the Curry grid is becoming much weaker and is
more difficult to find now in most places on earth, although it can still be found in Ma
laysia and Singapore.
This was the second of the global grids to be discovered. According to Dr. Ernst Hart
mann, the grid is aligned northsouth, eastwest, making it lie across the Curry Grid or
Net. The active areas are only 21 cm across, with neutral areas in between them. The
lines themselves are about 2 meters apart (NS) and 2.5 meters (EW).
Grid Dimensions
It is interesting to note that some researchers think that the active
area of the line is only one inch (2.5 centimeters). Further, they state
that the width of the whole line is about 8 inches.
The lines are also supposed to vary in separation according to the distance from the
equator. Thus, closer to the equator, they are about 17 feet apart, wider and much less
intense, but become more intense and about 12 feet apart as one moves away from
the equator.
It is believed that the rock beneath the soil may add some contributing factors, al
though the Hartmann Net is also believed to be cosmic in origin and related to the two
Van Allen belts of high intensity particle radiations at 16,000 km and 24,000 km.
The link with the rocks might be borne out by the fact that dowsers have noted that
earthquakes tend to distort the grid and it takes about 30 minutes to reform after
wards.
Phase Changes
Some researchers state that the net is also polarized alternately (like the Curry
Grid or Net) but, unlike the Curry Grid, has phase changes every 6 hours at sun
rise, noon, sunset and midnight; the intensity of the radiation varies with the full
moon and changing weather fronts.
ElectroMagnetic Fields
The World Health Organization (WHO) is engaged in a longterm study of Electromag
netic fields (EMFs). Research so far has suggested a link between exposure to EMFs
and a broad range of health effects including cancer, changes in behavior, memory loss,
Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.
These fields are widely accepted as being in existence. The precise nature of any dan
ger from them is, as you would expect, open to debate.
What is not under debate, however, is the prevalence of such fields in our daily lives.
Searching for EMF on the web will quickly provide you with much information about
them from various organizations. These include the National Institute for Occupational
Safety and Health (NIOSH), and the National Institute of Environmental Health Scienc
es (NIEHS). There are also several large databases of reports and publications con
cerning EMF and their effects on humans as well as stores offering all sorts of
protective garments and detection devices.
Types of EMF
Electromagnetic radiation comes in a wide variety of frequencies, all of which, except
visible light, are invisible to the human eye.
Besides natural sources, such as the earth’s magnetic field and the electricity associat
ed with thunderstorms, there are EMFs generated by humanmade sources: Xrays, for
example, employed to diagnose a broken limb after a sport accident.
The electricity that comes out of every power socket has associated low frequency
electromagnetic fields. Various kinds of higher frequency radio waves are used to
transmit information – whether via TV antennas, radio stations or mobile phone bas
es. Household electrical appliances and computers all generate EMFs to one degree
or another, although it is generally considered that being at a distance of about 30
cm is sufficient to reduce any risks.

Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) is a term sometimes used for buildings in which there is
a higher than normal incidence of illness or absenteeism (if it is a workplace).
The symptoms are such that they could be confused with noxious energies. For exam
ple, you only feel ill whenever you are at work, or you recover your vitality only when
on holiday. These, and similar effects, could also be attributable to SBS, and it is for
that reason that this information has been included. However, modern building tech
niques coupled with the knowledge acquired from the initial discoveries thirty years ago
has tended to minimize this as a cause of illness.
SBS first came to notice as a problem during the 1970s. Since that time much work
has been done on this and some of the results are outlined below. There were appar
ently headaches and allergiclike reactions to what were, at the time, unspecified stim
uli. Some of the reactions included lethargy, fatigue, headache, dizziness, nausea,
irritation of mucous membranes, eye and/or nasopharyngeal irritation, and sensitivity
to odors.
There have been found to be four major contributory factors to SBS:
• Major combustion pollutants
Often from defective or inappropriate heating devices which can produce nitrogen diox
ide and sulfur dioxide, both of which are irritants.
• Biological air pollutants
Dander, molds, dust mites and other biologicals are found every
where. The first three are carried by both animals and people.
Heating, cooling and ventilation systems all contribute to airborne
biologicals. These pollutants can cause infections, hypersensitivity
and toxicosis.
• Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
These are emitted as gases from certain solids and liquids. These include formalde
hyde, pesticides, solvents, cleaning agents, benzene, and perchloroethylene. Indoor
levels of some VOCs can be up to ten times greater than outdoors. Potential sources
of VOCs include
• Heavy metals
Although these are less likely to be a problem due to legislation removing lead and
mercury from paints, casual inhalation is more likely to occur in older, deteriorating
housing or in work on older buildings.
So, some buildings, because of their construction or their contents, can make life un
pleasant for their inhabitants. Unless you are sure of the construction materials, it is
always worth checking this as well.
In recent years there has been a general increase in the overall toxic levels found in
homes. This is due to the harsh chemicals widely used in household cleaning products.
There is a definite link to allergies and illnesses, especially amongst young children.
We strongly urge you to only use cleaning and personal care products that are earth
friendly and more natural. Contact us if you want our suggestions on affordable prod

In this chapter will look at some human causes or connections with negative or noxious
energies. Briefly, they are stress, psychic attack or curses, trauma, the past, ghosts,
objects and leylines and underground water.
Introduction
The rational, scientific approach to noxious energies can be appealing in many ways,
but it is also restrictive. It has difficulty explaining some observed phenomena.
Some people who have had their space cleared will discover that further clearings are
almost always required at a later time. Strangely enough, the negative energies will
often seem to come back and occupy the exact same places from which they were
originally banished.
To those with a less intuitive viewpoint, this might be interpreted as poor performance
on the part of the professional space clearer. Otherwise, why would the energies re
turn?
You might especially be dissatisfied with professional advice that said you must move
to another home to find a clear space, only to discover that in spite of doing that, you
are still surrounded by detrimental energies.
But...as Modern Western Geomancers, we believe that humans are responsible for
creating their own environment. That means they bring in both the positive and the
negative energies that are around them through their own intent and expectations. In
most cases, this is NOT conscious, but the results are just as if they were.
In other words...YOU are responsible for the space you live in! You probably realize
you are responsible for cleaning up after yourself physically, but you are also responsi
ble for clearing up after your energetic waste products, negative thoughts and feelings.
Let’s say that Brian sits around all day, thinking depressing things, eating junk food and
never seeing anything to be happy about...well, guess what? His space is going to re
flect how he feels and no matter how many clearings it has, it won’t hold, because he’d
be putting that depressive energy back in.
Stress
The most common way detrimental energies manifest is through the stress of everyday
living.
Change can be very stressful to humans, who tend to regard it with fear and suspicion.
Death, divorce, job loss, moving to a new home, beginning a new project or job and
marriage are just a few of the major personal changes people face in life.
Add concerns about the economy and the threat
of war or terrorist attack and the stress level rises.
Then there are the myriad everyday challenges,
such as commuting to work, traffic hassles, rais
ing children and finding time to relax.
When people become stressed out, they tend to
think negative, fearful thoughts.
The universe will send us, in a nonjudgmental
way, whatever it is that we expect and believe in. In this sense, like attracts like.
Thus it is critical to guard your thoughts and desires and avoid fearbased thinking if
you wish to avoid detrimental energy.
Much negative and noxious energy comes into our living space as a result of the ev
eryday fears, worries and anxieties we give energy to by thinking of them. The media
contributes to fear, whether intentionally or not. Disconnecting from the media will less
en that negative input.
For most people, it is a tremendous challenge to change from a fearbased outlook to a
more positive one. That means negative energies will continue to manifest in their envi
ronment as a result of their viewpoint.
This will necessitate repeated clearing of the environment, with more frequent clear
ings when stress is greatest.
Another human source of noxious energies that is thoughtbased is the energy of ill
wishes or psychic attack. This occurs when other people have negative thoughts or in
tentions towards us.
Because we are all connected at an energetic level, ill wishes of others can direct detri
mental energy into our lives.
Most of us have experienced this in some form, though we might not have called it psy
chic attack. You may have an exspouse who hates you, or a coworker who is jealous
of you.
Strong emotions directed towards someone can either help or harm them. Prayer is an
example of helpful energy, while psychic attack is negative.
Most of us have people in our lives who challenge us with their negativity towards us.
This negativity can be a source of detrimental energy in our environment.
Furthermore, you may have observed that associating closely with someone who is
under stress or psychic attack can negatively affect you. You leave them feeling tired
or even unwell. Once again, this is because we are all connected energetically, and,
unless something protective is done, we are open to these unwanted energetic ex
changes.
On rare occasions, the negative energy from an outside person is being directed con
sciously, as in a case where someone wishes another would die or have some form of
harm befall them. When this is true, it can be called a curse. Curses are very powerful
forms of negative energy, and they can last long after the originator is dead.
Curses have been reported all over the world, from Australia to Scotland, from Italy to
Russia and all places in between. We often encounter them in our work.
Negative energies can last a long time, especially if they occurred in conjunction with a
highly traumatic event.
Even people who do not consider themselves psychic
will comment on how different they feel somewhere
like the battlefield at Gettysburg or the death camp at
Auschwitz.
Death is often associated with negative energies that
have great staying power.
Most people are brought up believing that cemeteries
are not a good place to hang out. There is a reason American civil war battlefield
for this!
Hospitals are likewise not a very healthy place to be, energetically speaking, and if you
undergo general anesthesia, you may be particularly vulnerable to picking up negative
energies of various types.
Another place that isn't energetically healthful is a bar. The heavy use of alcohol and
other drugs is associated with negative energies, and so a bar can be a poor place to
spend much time unless your own energy is very strong.
Cemeteries, hospitals and bars are just a few of the more obvious locations that could
benefit from regular space clearings.
Trauma can be shortlived and not have a great effect upon people, but traumatic inci
dents can have a very longlasting residual effect. An example of the former is when
you enter a room where there has just been an argument. It is over, but you can still
feel the atmosphere there. That atmosphere can dissipate quite quickly, but other
'atmospheres' such as a place of murder can still be felt many years later.
Even if you avoid such places, you need to be aware of lingering energies present in
your workplace or home.
If you are not the first person to occupy your home or work station, then the energies of
the former occupant are certainly still present. Give yourself a break and get rid of
them for a clean start.
Sometimes the detrimental energies are connected with an historical event in the dis
tant past that you may not be aware of. A professional space clearer will often be able
to detect such sources of negative energy and clear them.
For example, we purchased a home in Arizona from a family who had lived there for 15
years. When we moved into it, the house felt quite sad to us. There were many plumb
ing leaks and waterrelated issues.
We did numerous clearings and ceremonies to relieve the negativity, and we spent
time and money repairing plumbing and other things around the house to show our in
tent to make it whole again.
In spite of our efforts, negative energies persisted, in addition to a feeling that the place
was largely invisible to others.
One day Maggie dowsed some details about the property and discovered that hun
dreds of years ago, a Native American shaman had placed an energy of intent on this
area that basically said it should not be changed.
That explained the two empty lots adjacent to our home, and the fact that the previous
owners of our home had largely left the halfacre lot unchanged for 15 years.
Through dowsing, Maggie determined it would be necessary to get a Native American
to perform a ceremony to totally clear this intent. A ceremony was arranged and per
formed, and indeed the energy shifted afterwards.
We began to get many compliments on how wonderful our place felt. Interestingly, the
two empty lots sold and new houses were built. Neighbors on two sides of us devel
oped and improved their properties in a number of ways. We took this as a sign that
the energy had been shifted.
People don't generally want to live somewhere a murder has taken place, but death of
all kinds can have negativity attached, and it isn't always possible to know the com
plete history of a location. When you have a professional do a space clearing, such
energies will reveal themselves and then may be cleared. A good example is the
house we cleared in the UK which sold two weeks after we cleared it.
House clearers are sometimes called 'ghostbusters' because they are able to clear
spirits or discarnate entities from a location, in addition to clearing negative energies.
Depending on your belief system, you may agree that spirits can be trapped in the
earth plane, even causing various types of mischief or harm to those of us still alive,
whether intentionally or not.
It seems that not all human and animal spirits are able to move on after death, either
from confusion associated with the death itself or from fear of punishment in the after
life.
In such cases then it seems possible that discarnate entities may contribute their ener
gy to a location. Because that energy is most often confused, afraid or worried, it can
be detrimental to humans and animals living or working there.
Most of the time, such discarnates can easily be cleared and removed by a profession
al.
It is wise to ask whether all the discarnates that are usually in residence are present at
the time of the clearing, since some appear to have foreknowledge of the intent to clear
the space, and go away for a time to avoid being removed, only to return after the
clearing is done.
While most discarnates we have encountered add a negative energy to the living
space, there are occasions when a spirit has chosen to stay in a location to help the
inhabitants. If this is the case, there is no need to clear that particular spirit, and in
deed, if your intent is only to clear detrimental energies, you will not remove helpful en
tities. If necessary, reread the earlier section on ghosts.
Less dramatic than "ghosts", but just as capable of being detrimental to residents, is
the negative energy that can become associated with an object.
If you have always found that you feel the atmosphere in antique and secondhand
shops stifling, it may be that you are sensitive to this type of energy.
We often find when doing a clearing that a particular keepsake or antique has detri
mental energy attached to it. Items that were handled by persons during periods of
great emotion or stress are often imprinted with the energy of those emotions, and this
can be detrimental to subsequent owners.
It is possible to clear an object of this type of energy, rather than selling it or giving it
away.
In one house, we found that a particular piece of wall did not feel good at all. We tried
to find anything on either side of it, but had no luck.
In desperation we turned to the owner and asked if she knew anything about this par
ticular area of the wall which would help explain what we found.
After thinking a minute she told us that where we had found these strong energies was
where a painter had been working. He was very angry as he had had a bad row with
his wife. She remembered it clearly as he was so different from his normal emotional
state.
In other words, we were picking up the emotions of a man who had simply painted a
wall over two years before!
Now think of all the times you’ve been angry while holding an object!
Other accepted forms of geopathic stress, such as ley lines and underground streams
of water, are usually regarded as something over which we have no control, being ex
ternal to us and of earth origin.
However, it is worth considering that if we believe that we create our own environment,
then that means everything in it, including geopathic stress. It is possible that these
types of energy, which frequently cover large areas, may be created by groups of peo
ple rather than by individuals.
Here, the term "ley line" is being used in the more commonly accepted way, as indicat
ing a line or flow of energy (in this case detrimental) in the earth. For a fuller discus
sion, see page 18.
Regardless of how they come about, it is possible to transform these sources of detri
mental energy in your living space without changing them over their entire course.
If the professional who clears your space discovers that a large portion of the current
situation is caused by your own or others' negative emotional energies, then another
type of treatment may be required to help keep your space clear over an extended pe
riod of time.
That treatment should address the negative energies you are holding that are attract
ing the detrimental energy to you. We offer a variety of techniques that are helpful for
removing negatively charged emotions and energies that attract undesirable events in
our lives. Visit www.professionalhouseclearing.com for more details
What does it feel like to be in an area of noxious or detrimental energy (often known
Geopathic Stress or GS)?
This apparently simple question does not have a simple answer.
The reason for this is that each person is different and each person will experience the
effects of noxious energy in a slightly different way. After all, if there was a limited set of
easily definable symptoms, it is likely that the established medical profession would
have dealt with the problem of noxious energy some time ago.
No one definition
All that can be said with certainty is that, at the lower limits of experiencing such ener
gy, there is awareness that something is not right.
At the other end of the scale there can be significant illhealth, even death.
In between there is a large area where such energy appears to act as a block to any
type of therapy and prevents people from recovering fully from any treatable condition.
Therefore, if you have seen many specialists and tried many different treatments, but
none of them worked fully, then it is highly likely that you are suffering from the effects of
noxious energy. The reason for this is, perhaps, due to the body's weak electrical field
being disrupted by the environmental factors.
Children and animals will often exhibit radical behavior changes or misbehavior as a
result of noxious environmental energies.
It is perhaps easier to list those symptoms which have been alleviated with space
clearing of various types in order that the range and complexity of them might be more
clearly seen.
Resistance to appropriate treatment
Serious illness such as cancer or MS
A feeling of being run down and exhausted
Depression
Other indicators
You might feel fine when not in the home, but have anxiety whenever you return to it.
Or, it might be that you have developed symptoms only since moving to a new house
which are, otherwise, unexplainable. Your neighbors might also be ill.
The previous occupants of the house might have suffered continual illness or disease
(or had a run of unexplainable bad luck).
Other indicators can include:
Hedges might have gaps in them, indicating a line of energy running through.
Weeds growing in one area no matter what you do.
Cracks in walls, floors, driveways and patios which might indicate geological fault
lines below.
Trees which have grown in a twisted fashion, looking as if they are trying to get
away or avoid an area, or trees with cancerous growths on them.
Be aware of your own sensations
The key point to note in all this is that it is your own reaction to the environment which
is vital. Be aware of how you feel and any changes to you. Become more aware of
your own sensations, emotions and reactions, as well as your perceived level of health.
If you find that you cannot explain your symptoms using any traditional model of health,
then you should certainly consider having your environment checked for geopathic
stress and detrimental energies.
If you suspect that your environment may be adversely affecting you, then you are al
ready alert to it, possibly opening up your senses more widely.
Detection
Detection relies upon you being very aware of yourself.
Listen to your body. It may be that you notice that you become irritable whenever you
come home, or that you can only sleep well and without awakening in a panic when
you are away from home.
There could be a number of small ailments that you or family members have been suf
fering from ever since you moved into the house. (If you want to check up on illnesses
which have been associated with this problem, look back at page 49)
Children will often be scared of areas with noxious energy.
Similarly, when other theories have failed, then not being able to relax at home, or hav
ing tired legs or headaches when sitting or simply being in certain areas can be symp
toms of noxious energies.
Often it is not as definite as that. It can be a feeling of general malaise or something
“not being quite right”, or the desire to "get out of the house" frequently.
Trust yourself.
A checklist which you can use to help in assessing your space can be viewed in
Appendix B of this document.
Perhaps you have found out a bit of the history of your home.
If the previous several owners had divorces or died from cancer or had similar misfor
tunes, your home needs a clearing.
Look inside yourself and, without fear of disaster or overdue concern, see how you feel
about your home. Be honest. Be aware of your own reactions, sensations and feelings.
Is there a room or a spot in the home where you don't like to go? Do people tend to
avoid one area?
Just be alert to your surroundings. However, do not fall wholeheartedly for this theory
just because you like it.
Be as discerning as possible.
Dowsing
If you are able to dowse, then use that method to confirm and, possibly, identify nox
ious energies.
The section on dowsing will help to guide you through the process. (If you are unable
to dowse, then consider buying our Dowsing Course which teaches you to this great
skill. Visit our website (www.professionalhouseclearing.com) for details and to buy it.
Other Indications
If you are still not sure, then look elsewhere for confirmation. If you have pets, then see
how they behave. Cats tend to like areas where humans find discomfort from pro
longed exposure (but remember that they also like warmth and sunny spots as well!).
Dogs tend to react in much the same way as humans do to noxious energies, so they
can be very helpful in confirming your suspicions.
Similarly, plants react to such influences. Do some of your houseplants just wilt and die
in one spot but thrive elsewhere? If you have trees outside, observe them to see if they
Energies which are harmful to humans affect other species as follows:
• Asparagus, mushrooms, aralia, mistletoe and medicinal herbs all thrive in such areas.
• Trees including oak, fir, plum, cherry and elderberry grow well.
• Cats, ants, wild bees (who will produce more honey), wasps, beetles, termites and
parasites are attracted to them, as are bacteria and viruses.
• Potatoes and other vegetables will spoil when stored in cellars exposed to such ener
gies, and jams and jellies will start molding and will not mature. Compost will decom
pose faster.
• When an aquarium stands in an area of energy detrimental to humans, the fish are
likely to eat their own eggs.
Energies which are beneficial to humans will affect the following organisms as
described:
• Roses, sunflowers, lilies, begonias, azaleas, cactus, privet hedges, red and black cur
rant bushes, cucumbers, celery, onions, and maize all do well.
These lists cannot be considered definitive in any way. However, they can be used as
a general guide to help you observe what may be happening around you.
As with any such listings, use your own judgment and, if possible, have a secondary
method to use as confirmation, whether that is dowsing or your own experience and
sensations.
Dowsing is an old technique which uses something akin to intuition. It is also an ability
which is inherent in all humans but which, for a variety of reasons, has been devalued.
There is a slow rekindling of interest in it and the number of dowsing societies is grow
ing. Although this course cannot delve deeply into the art of dowsing, we offer a dis
tance learning course that takes you through all the aspects of dowsing. You can find
out more about it here.
You can also join a society and attend meetings, or simply find more about it on the
Internet. (A good site is this one.) Whatever you decide to do, you will find that you
have probably already been dowsing without being fully aware of it!
Dowsing Tools
Dowsing traditionally uses tools which act as indicators of a response. These tools
should not be considered as being something special in themselves. Think of them just
like a gage. A gage can show a variety of things; fuel levels, air pressure, speed, tem
perature. You have to know what the gage is reading in order to understand what it
says. In the same way, you have to know what it is you are finding or responding to in
order for the tool’s reactions to make sense.
The tools which are used most frequently in dowsing are Lrods and pendulums. The
Yrod is less frequently used now, and there are also other tools available such as au
rameters and bobbers.
Basic Dowsing Tips
Whichever tool is used, it is important that you are able to obtain a basic YES and NO
response from it. Each section will introduce you to the main techniques for doing this.
However, common to all tools and techniques is the state of mind you have when you
dowse. As far as you can, you want to be mentally clear and without any pressing wor
ries or emotions present. Allowing concerns to enter your mind can make it difficult to
focus on what you want to do.
These are socalled from their shape. The shorter length is held in the hand, and the
longer length is allowed to move.
Types of rods
They can be made easily from wire coathangers. Some Lrods are very fancy and are
collapsible like car antennas. Others are made of brass or chrome or steel. Like any
thing else in dowsing, you find (or make) the ones which feel best for you. Fashion and
dowsing don't seem to be very closely connected!
Using them
When using them, they are generally held at an angle slightly below the horizontal.
This allows them to move easily. Normally, they will cross when you have found what
you are looking for, or they will point to the area or place you want to find.
Getting a response
Lrods are probably the most suitable of the tools for working outside or in large areas.
With the rods held at the correct angle and with your mind clear of preconceptions, find
out how they will react or show a YES response. Ask a question which can only have
one definite answer. Was I born at the North Pole? or Have I just eaten a banana? are
examples of the sort of question to use. Generally, a YES will be when they cross.
Moving apart would signify a NO. However, some people’s Lrods open up and swing
away from each other for a YES and cross for a NO. You need to experiment to find
out which is which for you.
Two methods
Lrods can be used in two ways. Firstly, they can be used to pinpoint locations. You
walk along, asking for an indication when you are over a buried pipe, a coin or whatev
er the object of your search is. The reaction shows you the area. If you want to be a
little more precise in your location, then ask for the indication when the toe of your lead
foot is over the area. That makes it more accurate, if accuracy is vital.
On the left, cut the coat hanger at the places
marked with tape, bend the wire until it is at right
angles. Take a plastic straw and slip the shorter
length of wire into it to act as a handle. Bend the
bottom of the wire to stop the handle falling off.
Voilá!
To the right is a collection of Lrods. The top
pair are collapsible, extendable rods made of
chrome. The middle pair are made of steel
and the bottom pair are of brass with copper
sleeves as handles.
The pendulum is probably the most versatile of all dowsing tools.
Different people have different opinions about pendulums. Some prefer their pendu
lums to be a certain shape or of a particular material whilst others say that it doesn't
matter what you use, even a metal nut on a piece of dental floss will do.
It is up to you to decide which viewpoint you favor. You will usually be drawn to a par
ticular pendulum, although the choice might change over time.
How to use the pendulum
When using a pendulum, you need to be able to know which motion signifies YES and
which signifies NO. That way, you can ask questions concerning the environment and
have understandable responses.
As in all dowsing work, you should focus clearly on the question and clear yourself of
preconceived ideas or wishes.
To find out your own responses, have the pendulum swinging easily in a circle. Ask a
question of it to which the answer can only be EITHER yes or no, such as, Is today
Tuesday?, or Do I smoke cigarettes?
Watch what your pendulum does. If you are unsure of its response, simply ask that you
be shown what your YES looks like. You can go through the same processes for the
NO response.
Some other considerations
A pendulum is less easy to use if you walk or move about when dowsing. A light pen
dulum will be difficult to read in breezy conditions.
However, it can also be used as a direction finder. You simply ask if the area you are
interested in is in front of you. On getting a YES, simply ask the pendulum to swing in
the direction you need to go.
This is a very simple and brief introduction to the use of a pendulum. There is a great
deal more to using a pendulum than can be outlined here. You would be well advised
to take a course or learn to dowse using the distance learning course available from
the Professional House Clearing website.
This chapter only outlines some of the other dowsing tools available for use. To learn
how to use them, in particular, how to hold and use the Yrod, we strongly suggest you
purchase our Dowsing Course or find some professional help.
Y Rods
There are other tools available for you to try. Chief amongst them is the Yrod. This is,
perhaps, the best known traditional dowsing tool. It used to be cut from a branch of a
willow tree and used for only a few days before it dried and cracked. There are still a
few dowsers who do this. Nowadays most Yrods are made of plastic or nylon tubing
and last longer.
Using them takes care
Holding these in the correct attitude can take some practice, as they should be held so
that they are under tension. This means that they can flip up suddenly and maybe even
hit you in the face!
As with the other dowsing tools, they react to whatever you have asked for in your
mind. As they flip either up or down, you need to make sure you know which way is
YES and which way is NO for you. See the sections on pendulums or Lrods if you do
not know how to do this.
Aurameters and Bobbers
Aurameters and bobbers are basically the same thing. They consist of a length of
(usually) wire which is attached to a plain handle. Bobbers tend to be straighter and
have a small weight at the tip. Aurameters usually have coils of varying numbers
roughly midway along the wire. In either case, they are used to point at a place or area
and show a reaction in some fashion.
For some people, this might be a circular motion at the tip, for others it might be an up
anddown or sidetoside motion. Again, if you are going to be using either of these
tools, you need to know how it will react for you if it is showing something positive.
Again, refer to the pendulum or Lrod page for further information on this aspect.
Detection Techniques
Protect Yourself
If you are going to attempt to detect noxious energies, then you are already open to the
idea that such energies exist and that they can, in some form or other, be harmful to
you.
That being so, you will be well advised to perform some form of protection around
yourself whenever you decide to undertake such work.
In addition, you are strongly advised to make sure that you are clear of any remnants
of noxious or detrimental energy when you have finished.
To ignore yourself and the impact any such work can have upon you is irresponsible.
We find it useful to dowse if we need protection before a clearing, and also, to dowse
to make sure our protection is adequate for that job.
If you are unclear or unsure as to how you should go about such pro
tection or clearing, you should seriously consider whether or not you
should engage in this activity. If there is doubt, then contact a profes
sional who is experienced in this work.
Get Permission
Do not engage in this activity if you do not have the permission of those who normally
inhabit the space you are clearing.
This means that you can go ahead and check and clear your own space, but not de
cide to make it better for your next door neighbors or where you work, unless you have
specifically been given permission to do so.
In general, any area you live or work is appropriate for you to clear. Outside of that,
only clear where you have been asked by the owner to clear.
Assess the Situation
As you dowse for noxious energies, you will find it useful to grade the detrimental ener
gy based on its effects.
We use a +10 to 10 scale for determining the Level in Effects of any energy. 0 is neu
tral. Any + value is beneficial, and a number is harmful. The larger the number, the
stronger the effect. An energy that has a 2 effect on you is not as vital to clear as one
which has a 10 effect on you.
Bear in mind that not all people and animals are affected the same by a given energy.
(See the earlier lists.)
Depending on the individuals' personal resonant energies, genetics, health and other
factors, different reactions can be observed to the same energy. Therefore it is some
times advisable to dowse an area with a particular person or animal in mind, rather than
just looking for 'bad' energy in general otherwise you will be led to discover things which
are not important or have little or no effect.
Investigate
When you dowse an area for noxious energies, you may want to classify the types of
energy you find.
There are many systems for doing this. In general, there are natural energies, man
made energies, nonhuman and psychic/spirit energies. Within each category, there
are many possible types of energy.
It is not always necessary to determine the exact type of energy in order to clear it. If
you are interested in learning more about the complexities of space clearing, we advise
you to take an advanced course in this interesting field.
Having some idea as to the origin or cause of what you are detecting can be helpful
when it comes to deciding a method to use to clear it. It also helps you to become bet
Dowsing on site
There are two main approaches to dowsing noxious energies. The simplest to explain
and understand is dowsing on the actual site of the supposed energies.
Assuming it is in your home, you can use your dowsing tool to explore and examine
each room or area for energies detrimental to your health. If you prefer, you can seek
out any specifics, such as are described elsewhere in this course.
You might wish to do that on a regular basis anyway as a form of health check of your
environment.
How to check
What you are doing in such an examination is finding out where you get a reaction with
your tool.
Walk through the area currently under investigation and, with your intent clearly fo
cused on finding energies which are detrimental to you now, notice where you get such
a dowsing reaction. It is important that you do not walk into the area with any precon
ceived notions as to what you might find. Try to be as open as possible to whatever
might be there. And that includes Nothing!
Where to check
You might find that a line of something flows through a room. It might be that there is
only a small area in which you get a reaction.
Check if such areas, flows or pools are in places where you habitually spend long peri
ods of time. Such areas are your bed, the kitchen, the lounge (check your favorite
chair!) and perhaps the home office, hobby area or the like.
To begin with, you might like to have a more visual reminder of what you have found.
You can lay canes on the ground where you found a reaction. You can place tape or
colored pieces of paper for the same reason. Do not forget to check all areas, all floors.
Just because you found something along one wall downstairs does not mean that you
will find the same thing in the same place in the room above.
Make no assumptions
Do not assume that all lines flow continuously. Sometimes they split up into several
different new lines. Sometimes they terminate (or start) from something like a whirlpool
or small spot and sweep outwards, often spiraling as they go.
When you have found as much as you can, then you need to check which is the most
detrimental for you. Locate that, and determine HOW detrimental it is. Move to the sec
ond place and repeat the procedure and so on. (Of course, you can always begin by
asking which is the most noxious and finding it, then going to the next one and so on.
Exposure is the Key
Remember that exposure is a critical element in determining how dangerous an energy
is. A 10 energy in the far corner of your back yard isn’t as worrisome as a 9 energy in
your bed. Be very diligent in checking areas where you and your loved ones spend a
lot of their time.
This is slightly harder to explain (and for some people it is much harder to accept), but
it is another method of working. Given the proviso of only working where you have per
mission, remote dowsing may not be of interest to you. Of course, you can use it to
check on your holiday home or if you do not want to wander around your house but
prefer to sit at a table and do the work instead.
A different skill set
The skills required for this are different from onsite dowsing. With remote dowsing,
you are actively working on an area which is not your immediate environment. Dows
ers do this a lot in searching for water, oil, lost pets and so on as well as professional
clearings across the country or across the globe. Distance is no object here.
Map dowsing
What you need to begin with is a map of the area or rooms you want to check. This
does not have to be accurate or to scale. However, it should show relative sizes and
positions. Do not turn it into a work of art or spend hours laboring over it. It will work
just as well if it is rough in design. The relationship of areas to each other is the only
aspect you need to have correct (the bedroom is to the north of the living room, or the
kitchen is to the right of the dining room and so on).
The two approaches
When you are ready, clear your mind of preconceptions or hopes and wishes. You can
use Lrods for this sort of dowsing, although they might be a little unwieldy or too large
(although you can buy very small rods now), but usually a lightweight pendulum is eas
ier. Methods vary as to the steps to take in this. However, they boil down to two main
approaches.
Two
The second approach involves you tracing around the edges of the property, the house
or whatever it is with a pencil, while you hold your pendulum in a neutral swing with the
other hand, and every time you get a dowsing reaction for detrimental energy, make a
mark.
Having completed the circuit, you then proceed to find where the energy goes after
crossing the border. Again, use your pendulum or rods to show you the direction. Re
member, it might not be in straight lines and it might end suddenly!
Having completed that portion of the work, you can then survey the individual areas for
any other energies detrimental to you which do not show up as flows or lines. In other
words, you carry out the first approach.
When working with either method, keep your mind open for any feelings or sensations
you have.
They may well be acting as guides, directing your attention to areas, giving you some
sort of validation perhaps. This work is not just about what the tool does. It is also
about what you feel.
You will find it immensely helpful to be aware of your own reactions when working. This
is also why it is an excellent idea to protect yourself prior to doing this work. You can
get affected in all sorts of ways and you need to be alert to the effect the environment
you are working on has on you.
Refer to the next chapter to find out how to nullify any energies you have found.
Clearing your space of detrimental energies and keeping it clear are complex and fas
cinating subjects. There are many schools of thought about dealing with negative ener
gies.
One of the more traditional viewpoints is that of avoidance: Detect noxious energies so
that you can avoid them and their harmful effects. We know of professional house
clearers who will recommend that you move your bed or even move to another home if
they detect noxious energies, because they do not believe in the possibility of trans
forming energies or even redirecting or neutralizing them.
These practitioners seem to be in a minority, and reflect a belief system that regards
noxious energy as external to humans and not under their control.
This viewpoint is not only disempowering to humans, it feeds on fear and encourages a
perception of separation rather than oneness with our environment. It is becoming less
and less prevalent.
However, as a side note, we have come across clients who thought that way and want
ed us to locate any areas or lines of noxious energy in their home so that they could
plan accordingly. Although we mentioned that the lines could be moved, they were not
disposed to believe us and so we made recommendations as to the best placement of
furniture, (particularly beds) for them.
A more common practice is to transform negative energy through a variety of tech
niques. Practitioners with this goal, like us, won't tell you to move to another location if
they detect noxious energies. We won’t suggest you move your furniture around to
avoid them. We employ one or more of the techniques listed below to neutralize the
effects of the detrimental energies or transform them to beneficial for you.
Usually only the energies in your living or working space will be dealt with. For exam
ple, we might peg a line or stop it with a crystal as it enters your property to protect you
from harmful effects, but we won’t neutralize the whole line. This reflects the belief that
we should only work on the living space of the person who asked for help, rather than
changing the effects of the line of energy over its entire length.
We use methods in space clearing that acknowledge our belief that we can actually
transform the energy in our environment, because we have created it or drawn it in for
Choosing a Method
If you have decided you are going to have a professional clear your space, then con
tact us. We perform space clearings both in person and long distance with excellent
results. And we have been doing so for years. See the the Professional House Clear
ing website for details and testimonials.
If you have decided you want to do the clearing yourself, then you need to choose the
method or methods that will be most effective. Dowsing is an excellent way of doing
this. You may also use your intuition or select a method you have heard of or wit
nessed and which you feel comfortable with.
Performing the Clearing
The clearing works through the intent of the practitioner. Whatever method you
choose, or is chosen by the professional, it is the energy of intent that makes it work.
The actual way you do the clearing will depend on the method chosen. It is also worth
mentioning that in some cases, a clearing might take time to have an effect. For some
of the worst cases we have worked on, the properties showed some initial improve
ment, but took two days for the full effect to take place.
Do Not Forget Yourself!
It is very easy to get 'carried away' with doing the work. However, it is VERY important
that you do not forget to clear yourself afterwards. After all, if you have in some sense
been paddling around in some mucky stuff, the odds are that some of it will stick to
you.
After every clearing you perform, take the time to clear yourself. How you do that is up
to you and your beliefs, but the common methods are smudging yourself with some
Methods:
Symbols
Symbols are filled with a specific meaning. A red octagon by the roadside in America
means 'Stop'. An arrow points us in the direction we should go. A cross is a religious
symbol overlaid with many cultural references, as is a star of David.
You can easily think of many more symbols which have specific meanings in your life.
The provide us with information, directions, warnings and generally act as shorthand
methods of communication.
Symbols or patterns can be very powerful in more subtle ways as well. For example,
the Nazi Swastika has many connotations for most people, the effects of which are not
simply translatable into a meaning or action. The communication, in this example, is
multilayered and much more complex than a road sign.
Sound is another ancient method for clearing negative energies from a place.
Toning, chanting and brass bells are some of the more commonly used methods of
generating sound for clearing purposes. When combined with intent, sound can clear
out negative or stagnant energies in an environment.
You may note a change in the quality of the sound as the clearing occurs. Stagnant or
negative energy will dull the sound of your instrument. As the energy clears, the sound
will often become clearer.
You do not have to spend a great deal of money on a brass bell. If necessary, you can
make sounds without special tools. Clapping your hands together is effective and easy
to do, but your hands will get tired if you are doing a large area. You may also beat a
cooking pot with a wooden spoon to generate clearing sounds. We prefer Tibetan
brass bells or something similar for the quality of sound.
Use whatever method you choose in all corners, behind doors and anywhere energy
might stagnate, like blind nooks under staircases. Don t forget to check closets as well.
We often finish off by using the sound in the center of each room. As you are making
the sound, remember to focus on your intent to clear the stagnant or negative energies
from the place. See them leaving, and light coming in to fill the room, or visualize it in a
way meaningful for you.
There are many schools of thought concerning how to clear a space of harmful ener
gies. Perhaps the most well known ancient remedy is the Oriental art of placement,
feng shui.
Feng shui, a Chinese term that means wind and water, is an art that has been prac
ticed for over three thousand years in China. Technically, feng shui does not clear a
space of detrimental energy. Rather, it prevents detrimental energy from accumulating
by encouraging the healthy and harmonious flow of chi, or life force, through the dwell
ing.
There are many types of feng shui being practiced in the world today. Some are quite
complex and involve many calculations. Western feng shui is a simplified form of the
practice that suits the culture we live in.
Clear your clutter
Although it is beyond the scope of this course to discuss in detail the principles of feng
shui, anyone who is interested in keeping their surroundings healthy will benefit from
studying and applying the basic principles of feng shui in their home and workplace.
One of the easiest things you can do to clear stagnant and potentially harmful energy
from your environment is to clear your clutter. Objects which are rarely, or never used,
and things which clog up closets, drawers and walkways tend to create stagnant chi.
Take a good, unbiased look at your possessions, especially those in places that are
out of sight, like closets, drawers, attics, basements, garages or utility rooms. Ruthless
ly gather all the items you don't use regularly, even if you think you might need them in
the future. Sell them in a yard sale or donate them to charity.
Every item has a purpose
Every item has a purpose, and if that purpose is not being fulfilled, it can generate neg
ative energy for you, the owner.
For example, think about unused exercise equipment in your garage and the guilt it
generates every time you look at it. You tell yourself you will get back to using it soon.
That equipment is doing you more harm than good in terms of guilt alone. Either get rid
of it, or commit to using it!
Pegging is an old method of diverting or negating noxious energies in the earth. In
deed, it might well be much older than we think.
The idea behind this comparatively simple method is to find (usually by dowsing) the
place or places in the flows of energy where they can be diverted. At such a place, a
peg is driven into the ground with the intent that it act to alter the flow of energy.
The peg can be metal, such as a 6 or 10 inch nail. It can also be a wooden peg made
from dowel. In some cases, copper wire can be wound round the peg. This can en
hance the efficacy of the peg. When working with a building, it is usual to find that sev
eral pegs are needed to act as conduits for the energy.
Hammering stakes into the ground was a normal method of working until the realiza
tion that intent alone could often work just as well. However, don't fall into the trap of
thinking that just because it is an old idea, there is no call for it anymore. That is not
true.
Take care!
Obviously, great care should be taken when hammering pegs into the ground so that
underground services are not punctured or destroyed! Also, you must dowse to see
whether such a treatment is beneficial, not just for the property you are currently work
ing on, but also for any adjacent properties, or for the neighborhood in general.
Do not lose sight of the fact that you are a part of a larger picture!
For example, we used this technique on a house in the UK. The copperwound dowel
pegs were carefully placed to divert a particularly nasty flow around the perimeter of a
property, but then pegs were used to bring the flow back to its normal route outside the
property. This was because we had no idea what effects the flow was having further
'downstream' and so we left it as it was outside of the area we were working on.
A link with vampires?
The reason this idea may be a very old one is in the vampire legends. A vampire
(signifying evil) can be killed by hammering a stake through the heart. Such tales may
well be folk memories of earlier times when such methods were used more widely to
stop or alter a flow of noxious energy. Typically, those who were outlaws were usually
buried at crossroads; a place where strong flows of energy met, thus allowing the twin
Contents Copyright Sixth Sense Consulting, Inc 2008 75
flows to 'hold' them there and prevent them from wandering far. Ghost stories of haunt
ings at such places bear some evidence of the possible truth of this interpretation.
A larger version of this pegging is to be seen in stone monoliths. In an interesting ex
periment in Austria at the turn of this century, a particularly accident prone stretch of
highway was improved by the careful placement of large stones. This apparently cured
the problem dramatically.
There are various instances of large stones (monoliths) being used to bring into harmo
ny specific areas of the country. One such practitioner is Marko Pognacnik (whose
book is noted in the reference section). Of course, the really interesting thing is to
speculate on what the ancient stone circles, monoliths and monuments are really doing
for us?
Many cultures use fragrance to clear spaces of negative energies. Most of us are famil
iar with the sight of an altar boy swinging a censer during a Roman Catholic High
Mass. Although incense is used less at Mass these days, historically it was used ex
tensively in the practice of many religions.
Native Americans burn plants such as sage and sweetgrass to clear a space of nega
tive energies or evil spirits. East Indians use incense of various types for religious pur
poses. Indians of Central America burn copal.
People today often use essential oils in aromatherapy diffusers to achieve many goals,
among them, to clear a space of negativity. You can readily buy such things even in
major department stores now, which shows the level of acceptance of the use and im
portance of fragrance nowadays.
Precautions
There are a few considerations around the use of fragrance. If a resident of a space
has respiratory challenges or allergic reactions to smoke or fragrances like perfume, do
NOT clear the space with fragrance.
Check to make sure everyone who inhabits the area has no problem with the aroma
you intend to use.
Burning objects should NOT be left unattended for any period of time. Fire is potentially
dangerous and should be handled with great respect. If working outdoors, avoid using
fire on windy days, especially in times of drought.
Incense sticks and aromatherapy diffusers work well in small to moderatesized areas.
Sage wands and incense burners that use granulated incense work well outdoors or in
very large areas, but can be overpowering indoors.
How to use
Use the appropriate method in combination with your intent to clear the space of any
detrimental energies for best success.
In general, it is good to go into each room of the dwelling or business with the sage or
incense. You may face in each of the four compass points in turn while intending to
clear the space of detrimental energy.
Like fragrance, clearing sprays can be very helpful in removing negative and noxious
energies from a place. Usually flower essences are used in the formulations of these
sprays. There are many different varieties of this type of clearing essence.
In the past, we custom mixed Australian Bush Flower Essences for our clients. This
allowed for the individual needs of the person and place to be addressed.
Flower essence sprays are wonderful in areas where smoke would be undesirable for
some reason. They are unobtrusive and effective. If you work with many people in an
office, warehouse or lab, then a clearing spray is a good way to keep your work area
clear without intruding on others.
Remember when you use the spray to combine it with your intention.
Such sprays are particularly useful for therapists who treat many different people in the
same room. The use of such a spray between sessions can be of tremendous benefit.
There are many brands available on the market.
Again, as always, make sure that the particular essence or combination of essences is
right for your needs. Do this by dowsing, intuition or, if possible, by asking the person
who made it up. Do not assume that what works for one person will work for you.
The different types
There are many different types of objects that are employed to clear noxious energies
from a space. Some are natural, like crystals, while others are man made, like coils
and disks.
Some objects inherently have energy that makes them useful for clearing or deflecting
negative energies. Certain crystals and gemstones have been used since ancient
times for this purpose. (Many people are also aware of the healing energies of crys
tals.)
For those who are inclined towards the technological, many companies are making
objects that have the ability to help clear a space. Some of these objects work because
of the materials used, some because of the design, some because of both.
Most of the equipment you can buy deals only with a small range of the energies in the
environment. Usually they concentrate on EMF’s (see below) and ignore other, equally
noxious forms of energy.
In order to address this problem, we have a range of fieldtested, handassembled har
monizers with models which will work in every size of environment. Simply go to
www.professionalhouseclearing.com/harmonizers.html to choose your model.
All objects that clear space depend at least in part on the intent of the user. So if you
choose to use an object, remember to place it with the intention that it will clear or
transform the negative energies for as long as Divinely appropriate. You may use
dowsing to determine the type of object that will work best for you.
One of the most common type of object you can buy is that which deals with EMF's in
one form or another. It is impossible to have had experience with all of them. Some of
them are very simple in design and construction, whilst others are more complex. How
ever, as an observation, it seems to be selfcontradictory to have an item which uses
electricity to block electrically generated EMF's. This is not a condemnation of such
appliances, but is meant as a 'heads up' as to the feasibility and applicability of some
of these items.
Although not strictly speaking something you can buy, there are remedies which you
can make yourself and which do not conveniently fit any other category.
Information on clearing noxious energies would be incomplete without some reference
to protection, although technically this is not about clearing the energies that exist, but
preventing them from coming back.
Protection is advisable in maintaining the space clearing, especially when it is discov
ered that negative energies are coming from other people, as in psychic attack.
The appropriate method of protection will vary from person to person and depends on
belief system. While some people are fond of using crystals for protection, others might
prefer sprays from flower essences.
Visualization that strengthens the aura of the person living there or that surrounds the
location with protective energy may be practiced daily to enhance protection, since the
aura is our main line of defense.
Whatever form of protection you are led to, it is important that it is something that you
feel engaged with. It is of little use, in the long run, to spend money on a device which
you just have to switch on, if you do not spend some of your time and energy in putting
your intent to work to help or maintain that. And that means that it is a regular involve
ment.
Using intent to clear noxious energies is perhaps the hardest method for some people
to believe, because nothing physical is used, and it just seems too easy.
Most of us mentally resist the idea that it could be easy to rid ourselves of something
like noxious energies. Partly, that is our left brain objecting to nonscientific modes.
Subconsciously, we also resist believing that it is easy to clear our space, because if it
is easy to clear it, then that seems like a judgment against us for having put up with the
detrimental energy for so long.
Further, some people are uncomfortable with something that is so easy, because it
seems like magic and they fear what that implies due to cultural or religious percep
tions.
We believe that understanding and using the power of intent is critical to fulfilling our
mission on earth. Most people are comfortable with intent in the form of prayer. Thus
we sometimes use a clearing prayer that is quite effective in transforming detrimental
to beneficial energies.
The other most common form of intent is that of visualization used with a prayer of the
type mentioned above. If you can 'see' with your mind's eye the problem clearing or the
particular energy dissipating, then that can be a very helpful thing indeed.
This is the most complex, but in many ways, the most effective method you can prac
tice for maintaining a clear living space.
Belief Systems
Belief systems are an important part of both attracting and getting rid of negative ener
gy.
Those who believe that we take an active part in creating our environment will agree
that we can attract negative energy if we are under stress or thinking negative
thoughts. In such a case, clearing the energy once is not a permanent fix unless we
alter our thoughts and emotions, but this is easier said than done.
We have done clearings for individuals who were experiencing tremendous personal or
job stress, and the clearings did not last very long. If you have an unhappy marriage or
family life, or if you hate your job, clearing your space is only going to have a tempo
rary effect on your life.
It is vital that you make whatever changes are necessary in your life to allow you to
draw in positive rather than negative energy by having positive thoughts and emotions.
In a word, if you want to live in an environment which is conducive to you and enhanc
es your wellbeing, then start living in a way which encourages those goals.
The more you can live in a way which reduces the opportunities for disease, the less
noxious or detrimental energy you are going to have to deal with. As it turns out, life
style changes are the best way to encourage energetic health, as with physical health.
Furthermore, as your environment will resonate with energy similar to your personal
energy, it is useful to clear your personal energy on a regular basis.
Also, as the energies of the Earth are showing greater signs of changing more rapidly,
it is highly important that clearings should be done regularly. That’s why we strongly
advocate a regular program of clearings.
At the time of this edition, we are still 4 years away from December 2012, when a ma
jor energy shift is completed on earth. However, those energies are already shifting,
and we have seen dramatic changes in environmental energies in 20072008.
Advanced Methods
There are advanced methods we employ that deal with the more dangerous types of
noxious energies. It is beyond the scope of this book to cover that subject, but if you
decide you want to learn advanced methods of space clearing, take one of our courses
on that topic. Be sure you have mastered the information in this ebook prior to attempt
ing any advanced techniques.

Dowsing Associations
If you are seeking professional help with your space, then contact us at
www.professionalhouseclearing.com. We have been doing this for years, we have a
website devoted the topic and a newsletter as well as much more information. We’re
professionals and you can trust us and the quality of our work.
If you are looking to learn dowsing then dowsing associations are the first place to go
to to find someone who can help you. If you don’t have one near you, learn through our
dowsing ebook, sold on our website.
In the United States, contact the American Society of Dowsers to find a chapter near
you or to start a local chapter. Their website is at www.dowsers.org
In the UK, contact the British Society of Dowsers for information on times and locations
of meetings. They may be found online at www.britishdowsers.org
There are many other dowsing organizations, including those in Canada
(www.questers.ca) and Australia. Visit the links section of the British Society of Dows
ers (above) for a complete catalog of all international dowsing societies from the Baltic
to the Argentine to Japan and points in between.
The American Society of Dowsers bookstore, at www.dowsers.org, has a variety of
dowsing tools for sale. Sometimes their online store can be quirky, but it is worth revis
iting.
The British Society of Dowsers also sells dowsing equipment online at their website,
www.britishdowsers.org.
Generally speaking, it is now easier than ever to buy a variety of tools.
Nigel Percy's book, "The Essence of Dowsing", looks at dowsing as something natural
and ordinary, and helps you to listen to and trust yourself. It is available at
Amazon.com or Barnes and Noble.
The American Society of Dowsers sells books (www.dowsers.org), although the caveat
about their online store applies here too.
The British Society of Dowsers, www.britishdowsers.org also carry a good catalog of
books and have a swift and reliable service.
Basically, books on dowsing have tended to be divided between
1 "how to"; where the author presents his or her technique as the one to follow:
2 the "specifics", where dowsing in one particular area (such as water divining, or
oil, or treasure) is focused upon. This latter category is where many diverse ideas
and opinions come into play. A subset of this category is the examination of the
spiritual aspect of dowsing.
Learning to dowse is something usually best done by direct observation and practice
under expert guidance.
The American Society of Dowsers contains many chapters throughout the country
which have meetings and at which dowsing is often taught. To find out the nearest lo
cation for you, visit their website, www.dowsers.org and search the chapter listings
there.
In the UK, they have an agreed syllabus which approved tutors now teach. This en
sures that the same basics are learned by everyone.
Other countries, such as Australia and Canada, usually have wellorganized websites
offering details of group meetings and learning opportunities. Use a search engine to
find these out and to make contacts.
However, it is not always possible to attend a meeting. If this applies to you, then you
should visit the Professional House Clearing website where there is a dowsing course
for sale, written by the auithors of this ebook.
It has been available for about 4 years now, has many affiliates selling it and is a popu
lar method of learning how to dowse and what you can do with dowsing.
A very brief introduction to dowsing is included in this ebook.
There are far fewer books on Noxious Energies, although some Feng Shui books will
have a section on it. The first two books in the section below are very useful, although
they may be hard to find.
Safe as Houses? Ill Health and ElectroStress in the Home by David Cowan and
Rodney Girdlestone, Gateway Books 1995
A detailed look at EMF's and other energies in the home with some interesting and
successful suggestions for dealing with them. This book has detailed instructions for
making the cup and ring stones referred to earlier. It is now out of print but the authors
have released the chapters on the web for download.
Ancient Energies of the Earth by David Cowan and Anne Silk, Thorsons 1999
(now out of print) Reprinted under the title "Leylines and Earth Energies" by Adven
tures Unlimited Press.
This is a detailed and wellresearched work on energies associated with the earth to
gether with some theories concerning the strange marks found on some prehistoric
stones. An interesting read for anyone interested in a wider appreciation of lines of en
ergy in the earth.
Letter to Robin by Walt Woods
This small booklet is available at the ASD bookstore or free on the internet. This is of
ten recommended as being suitable for beginning dowsers. However, it should be said
that it tends to pack a large amount of information into one chart which can be difficult
to work with at first. The approach may seem too 'programmed', but it is, nevertheless,
a good starting point.
Principles of Dowsing by Dennis Wheatley, Thorsons 2000.
This small paperback is a good book for beginners who wish to delve into the many
applications of dowsing. It is more scientific in its approach to dowsing and the possible
explanations of the process which might be either good or bad, depending on your in
terest, but has the merit of good coverage in a small size.
Dowsing: Techniques and Applications by Tom Graves, Turnstone Books, 1976.
This is a practical, how to book on dowsing. Sadly now out of print, but if you can get a
copy, it's well worth a read as it contains an absolute wealth of simple, clearly ex
pressed practical advice on dowsing. Also sadly, not enough authors of dowsing books
are able to be this clear and concise about the subject.
The Divining Hand by Christopher Bird, Whitford Press, 1993.
This is usually considered to be the classic text on dowsing. Large format with chapters
on the history of dowsing, details of significant dowers, analyses of various theories on
dowsing and packed with illustrations, it is a valuable addition to any dowser's book
shelf.
The Essence of Dowsing by Nigel Percy, Trafford, 2002
A new look at what goes on during the time between when the dowser asks the ques
tion and gets the response. For those seriously interested in dowsing, this book pres
ents the beginnings of a new dowsing paradigm. It is not just another book on how to
dowse. It is a book on what you should be doing when you dowse.
Spiritual Dowsing by Sig Lonegren, Gothic Image Publications, 1986
Another good book on approaching dowsing with a more spiritual attitude. At the time
of writing, a free, downloadable version was to be found but there were plans for a re
print, so you might be lucky (or not).
It might be of interest to know that this was the book which inaugurated the 'May I?
Can I? Should I?' approach to dowsing which has since taken (American) dowsing
over. Prior to this, presumably, dowsers just dowsed?
Stalking the Wild Pendulum by Itzhak Bentov, Destiny Books, 1977
A more scientific exploration of the universe and how dowsing might be related to the
bigger picture. It is a book for those who like to try to get a picture of the universe
which will help them to explain dowsing.
The Power of the Pendulum by T.C. Lethbridge, Arkana (Penguin) 1976
A thoughtful book about pendulum dowsing, among other things. Well written and easi
ly readable, it leads into some interesting areas. Any books by Lethbridge are worth
reading because of his erudition, his willingness to take tangential lines of thought and
for his light humor.
Secrets of Sacred Space by Chuck Pettis, Llewellyn Publications, 1999
This is a practical book on creating a sacred space and working with the earth and nat
ural elements. The author has been building such sites since 1970.
Healing The Heart Of The Earth (Restoring the Subtle Levels of Life) by Marko
Pogacnik, Findhorn Press, 1997
An interesting approach to creating healthy spaces, this time on a much bigger scale.
The author works with whole cities and aims to make their energies better using tech
niques like placing large stones.
We offer a comprehensive space clearing service at our Professional House Clearing
through our company Sixth Sense Consulting, Inc. and regularly perform clearings ei
ther in person or at a distance. The full details of special offers and the range of servic
es we offer in addition to space clearing can be found at
www.professionalhouseclearing.com.
The British Dowsing Society www.britishdowsers.org maintains a register of profes
sional dowsers who perform clearings. The American Society of Dowers, at the time of
writing, does not offer the same service. However, contacting your local chapter might
give you a name you can contact.
Apart from Professional House Clearing (Sixth Sense Consulting, Inc.), there are a few
other places you might like to visit to round out your education in dowsing and space
clearing.
The Holistic Intuition Society's website has an absolute mass of links, many of which
are associated with the content of this ebook and which will give additional information.
However, as with anything on the web, please remember that websites and pages
change and disappear.
The American Society of Dowsers has information on meetings & conferences, sells
products and provides a link to an email group for dowsers.
The British Society of Dowsers has useful information on dowsing for residents of the
U.K. and lists links to other websites with useful information. It has recently been re
vamped and offers a better surfing experience as a result.
The World Health Organization's website for its International EMF Project has a great
quantity of data. This is a very useful and detailed website which has organized a great
deal of data about possible environmental problems for people in an easily navigable
style. It is well worth a visit.
If you are interested in the Sick Building Syndrome, this is a good place to start.
Feng Shui has numerous practitioners and can involve a great deal of detail. A good
place to begin delving into this complex subject is at this website.
A
Alfreka
The Viking term for land which has lost its spiritual energy. Such land would be use
less and possible harmful to its inhabitants.
Animals
These can often be useful indicators of the energies in an area. It is important to re
member that not all animals react in the same way to the same energies. Observation
is the key here. A simple division is between cats and dogs. Cats tend to like areas
which are negative or noxious to humans, while dogs are the reverse. There are many
more observations which can be made, but the simplest thing is to doublecheck your
suspicions with dowsing.
Cats
Cats seem to prefer areas which humans can find stressful or unpleasant. To them,
such areas are pleasant and restful. This just goes to prove that energy, of itself, is
neutral, and it is only our perception of it which gives it labels.
ch'i
This is the name given by the Chinese to the flow of beneficial energy within the land
scape. It is interesting to note that the Chinese perceive energy flowing through the
land as sinuous and curving, whereas the Germans perceive it in straight lines. There
is reason to suppose that the way we perceive these lines is, in some way, linked to
our own cultural perceptions and attitudes.
Curry Grid
The first of the supposed earth grids to be discovered. It is named after its discoverer,
a Swiss physician. It is similar to the Hartmann Net in that it is conceived as being
quite regular in its dimensions.
Energy
This muchused term is really a catchall for what dowsers react to. It does not mean a
great deal by itself. Instead it is used to label some presence of something which other
wise would be very difficult to label and/or identify.
Whenever this term is used, be aware that the precise nature of the 'energy' would
vary for different dowsers, although there would be some overall agreement as to ef
fect.
Additionally, 'energy' is what is experienced by people who have adverse reactions to
geopathically stressed areas. The nature of the energy, its origins, the reasons for its
effects are, of course, then to be discovered. In other words, don't become too enam
ored of using the term without really thinking what it might be about.
Ghostbusters
A name sometimes assumed by, or given to, those people who clear areas which are
unhealthy for humans.
The term has arisen due to the fact that sometimes such people find that discarnates
(or ghosts) are contributing to the energy of the place and need clearing as well. (The
1984 film of the same name also helped establish the term.)
Ghosts are an easier concept for the public at large to understand or accept. Ley lines
and other energies within the earth are not yet fully accepted, so the generic name of
'ghosts' has come to be applied to energies within areas needing clearing, hence the
term 'ghostbusters'. (It should, more accurately, be 'ghost clearers' or 'ghost removers',
but the present name has the advantage of being more active and exciting.)
Hartman
Dr Hartmann discovered another grid, similar to the Curry grid but having a different
orientation and dimensions.
Heavy Metals
Such metals (particularly mercury and lead) are naturally toxic to humans and are
sometimes present in small quantities in older buildings. Their presence contributes to
Sick Building Syndrome or (SBS).
Irritability
This can sometimes act as an indicator of Geopathic Stress. However, it needs to be
seen in the context of work and family life for it to be a useful indicator. In other words,
you have to be aware of yourself and your normal reactions to stressors for this to be
used successfully. The same is true for sleep disorders and tiredness.
Landvaettir
A Viking term for the beneficial spirits of the land. They propitiated them and sought to
have them stay, believing that, without them, the land would be energetically dead and
harmful to humans. In fact, returning ships had to cover their carved and usually gro
tesque figurehead lest it would frighten the Landvaettir away. (See Alfreka)
Ley Lines
A general term for lines of energy within the earth. The meaning has become diluted
with time and usage to mean virtually any line of energy. However, it was originally far
more precise in its meaning. It is another example of a word losing its meaning and
becoming less than useful.
Noxious Energies
This is a catchall term sometimes used to describe any sort of energy; natural, man
made or of psychic origin, which can be harmful to those who spend time in places
where such things exist. Other common terms are geopathic stress, detrimental energy
and bad energy.
Plutarch
This Roman writer was one of the first to maintain in writing that certain areas of the
earth had beneficial or detrimental effects upon the inhabitants.
von Pohl
Gustav von Pohl is usually considered the person who first linked disease (specifically,
cancer) to certain areas of the earth, where he identified flows of underground water
through dowsing.
Pollutants
Various pollutants are thought to be contributory factors in nonspecific illhealth. In
space clearing, pollutants can be considered to be psychic as well as physical.
Psychic Attack
This can have a debilitating effect upon individuals. Psychic attacks can range from
deliberate curses placed upon people or the environment to a leaching of energy by
one person, albeit unintentionally. The latter variety of attack is usually caused by peo
ple who drain the vitality from those around them and are, as a consequence, known
as 'psychic vampires'.
Sha
A term from China, associated with Feng Shui, to describe nonbeneficial flows of en
ergy within the landscape. (See ch'i)
Sick Building Syndrome (SBS)
Whilst not strictly the same as geopathic stress or noxious energies, SBS can create
similar problems for those susceptible. The key aspect of the discovery of SBS in the
last quarter of the 20th Century was that it helped people to look at their environment in
a new way and so helped to reinforce the idea that noxious energies, although equally
invisible, could also have similar effects.
Sleep Disorders
Problems sleeping, despite being tired, can be indicative of geopathic stress, but is not
consistent enough to be a reliable indicator. However, if you can sleep well when away
from your usual bed and find yourself subject to such things as panic attacks, night
mares and unspecified fear, there is then strong reason to believe that geopathic
stress is present.
Stängle
Jacob Stängle, using electronic equipment, found radiation fluctuations in the same
areas where Gustav von Pohl had dowsed underground flows of water 40 years earli
Symptoms
It is difficult, if not impossible, to list the symptoms exhibited by people undergoing the
effects of noxious energies. If the list of symptoms exhibited by animals and plants
were to be added, an already very long list would rapidly become virtually endless.
What really matters are the symptoms which the individual is noticing. Other people's
symptoms can only be guidelines.
Transformation
This is the usual aim today of neutralizing noxious energies. Earlier methods concen
trated on moving the energies, blocking the energies, or relocating the sufferers. A
more holistic approach is gaining wider appreciation, however, and recognizes that en
ergy of itself is neutral. It only needs to be transformed to whatever is appropriate for
the residents.
Vikings
In preChristian Europe, these people had the most coherent views on earth energies
which have come down to us. Various laws and stories exist which show the way in
which this outlook had permeated their society. Although other societies doubtless
shared these views, documentation does not exist to confirm or deny this position.
Vilsbiburg
This small town in Bavaria is the place where the systematic correlation between dis
ease and earth energies was first demonstrated by Gustav von Pohl. It was, at the
time, the town with the highest death rate from cancer in Germany. von Pohl used
dowsing to identify what he determined were noxious zones. These were later con
firmed by plotting them against known deaths.
Volatile Organic Compounds(VOC)
These are emitted from many everyday materials in our environment and have been
found to be major elements in Sick Building Syndrome (SBS).
Frequently there can be allergic reactions to formaldehyde, one of the main VOC's,
although there are many people who show great sensitivity to other VOC's found in
cleansing agents, solvents and the like.
As a side note, the increasing growth of chemicals in the household, usually in clean
ing agents, has led to an increase in allergies and other diseases, especially in chil
dren. It certainly makes sense to evaluate your cleaning products to ascertain their
Watkins, Alfred
The originator of the term 'Ley lines'. He was the author of The Old Straight Track
which first detailed his discoveries of ancient paths in the English county of Hereford in
the 1920's.
World Health Organization (WHO)
WHO is currently investigating the effects upon humans of ElectroMagnetic Fields
(EMF's) and trying to identify all possible sources and the safe levels (if any) of all
sources. The uptodate results can be found at their website.
• What is geopathic stress? •
Geopathic Stress is a term which is used to describe energies which originate in some
form in the Earth or which are found to be present in the earth and which have a vari
ety of differing effects upon the humans who come into (usually prolonged) contact
with them.
Typically, Geopathic Stress (or GS) is associated with underground streams of water.
However, there are many other causes ranging from types of rock strata, faulting in
some rocks, to other, more obscure types which, so far, have not been positively iden
tified as having a specific origin or cause.
These latter types are usually associated with some form of flow of energy within the
earth. It is is this area which has caused GS to be identified with ley lines although
such an association between the two was not the intention at the outset. (See the
chapter on Ley Lines here, for further information.)
In other words, the term Geopathic Stress is a 'catchall' term for unseen energies
which appear not to have their origin in humanrelated objects or buildings but which
can have debilitating effects upon those who encounter them.
• What is noxious or detrimental energy? •
Noxious or detrimental energy is a more general term for any type of energy that has a
harmful effect on humans. These energies can originate in the earth or be man made,
such as electromagnetic radiation from computers, TVs and microwaves.
• Is geopathic stress / noxious energy harmful? •
Geopathic stress, noxious/negative/detrimental energies are all potentially harmful to
humans and some types of animals and plants. To some species of animals and
plants, what we term negative energy is actually beneficial.
Energy is neutral in and of itself. It is categorized by how it affects humans. Therefore,
what we term negative energy is only negative because of its effects on us. To ants
and cats, for example, what we term noxious energy appears to be beneficial.
• What are the symptom of detrimental energy? •
They vary from person to person. Symptoms that began when you moved into a new
home or new job are a chief sign of problem energies. Symptoms that go away when
you go on vacation or leave your work or home for long periods of time are suspicious.
Some plants and animals may fall ill if detrimental energies are present. Frequent acci
dents, unexplained feelings of panic or discomfort, a sense of heaviness, or any physi
cal symptoms like headache, sinus problems, digestive or heart issues can be caused
by negative energies.
These energies can also prevent your house from selling when you put it on the mar
ket, or prevent your business from succeeding. They have a hand in relationship chal
lenges, especially when those challenges were not always present. If you find that you
feel you just aren't yourself, that can also be a sign of environmental energies.
A strong desire to get out of a place often represents an unconscious awareness of
negative energies.
• How can I get rid of detrimental energies? •
• Can I clear detrimental energies myself? •
Being aware of the effects of energy is the first step in keeping your space safe. All of
the methods professionals use are also available to nonprofessionals. However, edu
cation and experience are valuable assets in doing an effective clearing.
If you plan to clear your own space, study as many methods as you can and practice
regularly to enhance your skill.
• What advantages are there to hiring a professional to clear my
space? •
Professionals such as ourselves have the education and experience to recognize even
the most complex causes of detrimental energy and to clear them effectively. Exposure
to many different scenarios gives them invaluable expertise to draw on. A professional
in most cases will be able to clear your space better than you can yourself.
In our case we have been doing this sort of work since 2000 and have worked on liter
ally hundreds of places, giving us a depth of experience which few others can call up
on. Plus we work as a team which is immensely helpful
• Will one space clearing clear my space permanently? •
Not likely. As we go through life, we encounter daily stresses and challenges that will
attract negative energies into our space. We are constantly bombarded by electromag
netic radiation from all kinds of sources, like computers, TV and microwave ovens.
Our environment changes, and we change. The energies in our environment likewise
change. It is important to check your space regularly to see if it needs clearing.
You wouldn't expect your house to stay permanently clean after one vacuuming. Nei
ther should you expect your space to stay permanently clear after one treatment.
It is for these reasons that we offer a discount to those who work with us regularly to
keep their space clear.
• How will I be able to tell when I need my space cleared again? •
Your symptoms might return if you need another clearing, or it might be as subtle as
just being aware that things aren’t right.
Training your intuition or learning to dowse are two ways of checking if your space
needs clearing.
• Why might multiple clearings be needed? •
Stress is a part of life. Unfortunately, excessive stress can attract negative energies.
Major life changes, such as divorce, death, job loss or moving will frequently attract
detrimental energies into your environment. Even the simple daily stresses of modern
life will do the same thing over time.
• How often is is advisable to check if my space needs clearing? •
If you are going through any type of major life crisis or transition, check your space fre
quently. Daily is not too often is extreme situations. If your life has no particular chal
lenges, then you may check less frequently. A clearing will usually last for about 3
months or more. Earlier, a clearing would hold for 56 months. However, the Earth en
ergies are changing and new ‘stuff’ is constantly being brought to the surface. This
means that new challenges are being created in the environment, hence the need for
more frequent clearings.
• Is there more than one method of space clearing? •
There are many effective methods of space clearing. They operate through the intent
of the person who uses them. To choose an effective method, a professional will either
dowse or use some other intuitive technique. You may do the same thing.
• Is a distance clearing as effective as one done on site? •
Maggie & Nigel Percy (the authors) have performed many clearings long distance with
excellent results. They have not found distance clearings to be less effective than
those performed in person, although they enjoy working with clients on site. If you have
a choice between a distance and an on site clearing, use your intuition or dowsing to
determine what is best for your needs or simply consult with Maggie and Nigel via the
contact form on the Professional House Clearing website.

A BASIC INTRODUCTION TO DOWSING
Dowsing is really very simple to do. It doesn't require a great deal of effort or expense.
What follows is a basic set of instructions to get you started. However, do not forget that
what really counts is not the tool, but you.
Before You Begin to Dowse.
Dowsing requires the body to be wellhydrated and in a restful state. You cannot dowse
well if you are trying to watch TV, or if your body is dehydrated. Similarly, you need to be
emotionally detached from whatever you are dowsing about. No one can obtain good an
swers if they want a particular answer badly. You may have curiosity about the answer,
but you must have no vested interest in a specific result.
You can also find it hard to dowse if your polarity is wrong. We all have an electric field
around us, because the earth has a magnetic field, and we have iron circulating in our
blood, so we respond to it. Our polarity can become 'switched' easily by a number of fac
tors, from stress to fluorescent lighting, and once switched, can lead to reversed 'YES' and
'NO' answers. To ensure your polarity is correct, simply take the first three fingers of your
right hand and stroke your forehead three times with them, going from right to left.
Holding the Pendulum
Hold your pendulum as shown in the picture to the right.
If you have the thread or chain very long, then it takes a long time to notice any difference
in the motion of the pendulum. A shorter length is preferable, such as illustrated in the
photo.
You should not be too tense when holding it. Try for a relaxed approach
so that the pendulum simply dangles from the tips of the thumb and fore
finger.
Many people make the mistake, when learning, of having the pendulum
hang motionless and then expecting it to move. While that is possible, it
is much easier to have the pendulum moving to begin with.
Swing the pendulum in a circle. Make it a steady movement, not too vig
orous, not too gentle. You will notice that it only takes a very slight move
ment of the hand to keep it going.
Your Responses
Now you have it in motion, look ahead and just keep the pendulum in sight in the corner of
your eye. Now ask that the pendulum move to show you a 'YES' reaction. This might be a
sidetoside movement. or a toandfro movement. It might be that
it wants to circle the other way, or go in a diagonal. Whatever happens, allow it to happen.
If at first you do not get a response, it might be that your 'YES' is a circular motion. In that
case, start the pendulum moving in a different way; backandforth, diagonally or sideto
side. Try it again and see if you get a reaction. If nothing appears to be happening, try to
be aware of any small movement which is different from the original. If you notice it, then
exaggerate it a little by yourself until it is very apparent.
Different people have different responses. If you read various articles, you will see that
most people prefer the YES response to be to and fro. It is up to you. If you wish the re
sponse to be to and fro, than make the pendulum move to and fro while stating "This is my
'YES' response". Do it until it feels natural.
Go through exactly the same process again, but this time ask for your 'NO'. As long as it is
different from the 'YES' reaction, that is all that matters. You will come across people who
state that the 'usual' 'NO' response is a sidetoside motion. As before, if you want this to
be your 'NO', then move the pendulum from sidetoside whilst stating "This is my 'NO' re
sponse". Do it until it feels natural.
Try not to stare at the pendulum. Keep it in sight in the corner of your eye. By doing this,
you are making your brain look at two things at once. This ability to look at two things at
once and focus on neither is an important aspect of dowsing. It helps the brain to get into
the correct state which facilitates dowsing.
Being in a "dowsing state" is the key to getting accurate dowsing responses. The most im
portant thing about attaining a dowsing state is that you are focusing your mind totally on
the question you are asking. If your mind flits to other subjects, such as what you are hav
ing for dinner, you may no longer be in a dowsing state. Therefore, the ability to multitask
is actually a handicap if you try to do it while dowsing. (Note that we do not regard "looking
at two things" as described above as multi tasking. That does not involve focusing the
mind.)
As with everything else, if you really want to become skilled in dowsing, you have to prac
tice. Practice asking questions and getting answers.
Questions...
The basis of all dowsing is asking questions. While this sounds simple, it can prove to be
the source of frustration and seemingly poor results. A typical question beginners ask is,
"Is buying this item good for me?" However, the word 'good' can have different meanings
for different people. Good might mean: not harmful, healthy, beneficial spiritually, uplifting
emotionally, physically helpful, financially beneficial, helpful in the short term only, positive
or helpful in the long term only (and probably many others you can think of). Asking a
question like this can give you seemingly strange answers because of the varied mean
ings of the word 'good'.
Therefore, you need to be able to be precise in your questioning. A better example of this
sort of question would be as follows:
"On a scale of 1 to 10 (where 1 is the worst possible effect on me and 10 is the best possi
ble effect) does this item rate an 8 or above for my longterm physical health?"
While this may sound longwinded at first, with practice it will become second nature.
And Answers
Some people might ask where the answers come from. If you ask different dowsers you
will get different answers. That doesn't mean that no one knows what they are talking
about. It simply means that it is very difficult to put the answer into words that everyone
agrees upon. To begin with, it is probably easier to think of there being some sort of gen
eral library of information about everything to which we all have access. You can refine
that idea as you learn more about dowsing.
Deviceless Dowsing
There will undoubtedly be a time when you want to dowse and you don't have your pendu
lum with you. This is when deviceless dowsing comes into its own. It
is dowsing without any tools at all, just your own body. The following
method is just one of at least 20 different ways of doing this.
Place your thumb and forefinger together and gently rub them. If
they do not slide easily over each other but feel sticky, then that sig
nifies a 'YES' response. A smooth sliding of the two is a 'NO'. This
technique is very simple and you can use it in public, as you walk,
as you look at a menu, or however you use dowsing.
LIST DOWSING
One of the most useful applications of dowsing is when you wish to choose one or more
items from a list. The list can be anything at all: holiday destinations, vitamins, restaurants.
The choice will be welldefined (i.e., you will have phrased the question carefully and ac
curately!). Simply have the question in your mind (to begin with, it helps to have it written
out) and ask if there is anything on the list which is an 8, 9 or 10 on a scale of 10. If you
get a 'YES', then point or look at each item as you dowse to find out which of them meet
your criteria. You can practice this technique on a restaurant menu. Ask a question like "Is
there an item on this menu to which I will have no allergic reaction and which will be fla
vorful and an enjoyable 8, 9 or 10 on my scale?"
Then order it!!
See what you end up with and how you like it. This method of trusting your intuition is both
fun and interesting!
THE POSSIBILITIES...
Dowsing gives you a skill which has, literally, no boundaries. You can dowse just about
any area of your life you want to. All you need to be able to do is to ask the right question!
The possibilities are endless. How far does your imagination extend? That is your dowsing
limit.

Part 1: Knowing what the problems are.
Use this checklist to assess your own level of environmental harmony.
For interpretation, see the material after the questionnaire.
What this will not tell you is just how badly you could be or are being affected. That will depend on several
factors including (but not limited to),
• what's happening beneath your environment
• what's happening around your environment
• what has happened in the past in and around your environment
Please take your time to answer the questions as some answers might not be as obvious as others...
You
This section is all about you and your health in your environment. Add extra check marks for each human
member of the household who regularly and consistently lives there (i.e. exclude regular visitors or family
members who only come to stay a while every few months).

This is closest to the way I feel
c. I often feel OK, but there are times when this place just doesn't feel quite right. I know of a couple of
places I would like to change the feeling of. I sometimes don't like being awake and alone at night
unless I have plenty of light and/or noise or entertainment to keep me occupied. I keep expecting a noise
or something similar to happen. However, I have got used to the place now. I can sometimes feel
claustrophobic or have cabin fever if I stay home for long.
This is closest to the way I feel
d. I sometimes feel OK in this place, but more often than not I think I could be happier or feel more
content. There's lots I would like to do to it to make it feel more like the home I want so that it would
just 'feel' better. I don't like being awake on my own at night. It often feels creepy, but I couldn't tell you
why because I don't think about it too much.
This is closest to the way I feel
e. I just don't feel right in this place. I'm often tired and / or depressed or nervy and can't seem to relax
easily. It sometimes feels as if there's a heavy weight on me that I can't shake off. That feeling eases
when I'm away from here. Sometimes I get the spooky idea I'm being watched or I just feel
uncomfortable when I'm here on my own. If I had a choice and could afford it, I'd probably think of
moving.
This is closest to the way I feel
f. This place has never really been right since I've moved in. Sometimes it just gives me the chills / makes
me feel sad / makes me want to get out, but I couldn't tell you why. I would believe anyone who told me
they saw things here. I can't settle, there's always some sort of illness or being under the weather going
on. The place just never looks as clean as I'd like, no matter what I do.
This is closest to the way I feel
By now you should have completed answering all the questions on the first section as fully as possible.
What we're going to do in this part is help you understand the answers and assess your own overall risk.
But First!
We should point out that just about every home needs a clearing, needs its energies harmonized and balanced.
That's just a fact of life. We are, after all, energetic beings, living in a world full of all types of energies.
It's not surprising that both we and the environment could do with a little cleanup every now and then.
Some homes will need it more than others and some people are at a far greater risk than others. Hopefully, this
installment will enable you to put your home in perspective, energetically speaking!
Obviously, if you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us, using the form on the website
(www.professionalhouseclearing.com/contact.html)
The Questions...
The first set of questions were about you because you are the one who should be most aware of your own
environment.
The length of time you have lived there might prove to be important when later answers are considered. Simply
put, the longer you live in a place (assuming it is not cleared and maintained), the greater the chance that you
will be affected by negative energies of all kinds and the greater the possible effects on you.
That's why Questions 2,3 ,4 and 5 are all referring to health and health issues. Health issues are usually good
indicators of energetic problems in the environment.
Questions 6 and 7 are also useful indicators of the overall effect on you in terms of being able to be at rest in
your own home.
Question 8 lists the most common sources of electromagnetic radiation (emr)in the home and asks about your
exposure to them. Again, emr can have differing effects on people.
The remaining questions deal with the environment you live in and possible responses to it.
Question 9 lists the most common types of incidents and experiences associated with environments which need
clearing work done.
Questions 10, 11, 12 and 13 deal with the known past of the property. Some would obviously have a greater
effect than others. For example, an old burial ground or plague pit would probably create more
problems than a very minor skirmish. The use of the land for ceremonial purposes can also have
marked effects on you, but not necessarily in terms of health issues. It can manifest in other ways such as
problems in concentrating, of being overlooked, of not prospering and so on.
Question 14 deals with the external aspects of your environment. The way plants, shrubs and trees grow (or
don't ) can be excellent indicators of problematic energies in the area. Similarly, animals outside are usually
extremely sensitive to energetic imbalances. Time spent in carefully observing them and their habits can often
reveal a wealth of information. Horses avoid areas, ants like areas we don't, fish avoid such areas and so on and
on. This sensitivity is also the reason for Question 16.
Question 15 puts the spotlight on some types of external reasons for any problems or difficulties. Largescale
disturbances of the earth are never very good for health and wellbeing, and areas of stagnation or of excessive
energy can all cause imbalances in you.
So...Are you at risk and how do you tell?
In questions 316, the more Yes answers you marked, the more you probably need a space clearing. So go back
and scan your answers and see if you had a small, moderate or large number of Yes answers.
Finding the true risk is not as simple as adding up all the check marks you have entered and seeing what the
total is. The levels of effects on you can vary given the amount of time you have spent there, your overall health
and wellbeing and your own awareness of such things.
A complete picture cannot be gained from this questionnaire because it does not take into account what is under
your home. Dowsing can locate such places and fill in the picture with more detail. Underground water and
fault lines are not obvious on the surface yet they can have serious consequences for people.
Hence these questions can only serve to point out areas where you are probably at risk and give you pointers as
to how you can recognize such risk. It cannot tell you if you are going to remain healthy if you stay there.
Nowhere is there mention of your normal emotional outlook or how you think of health and illness. These are
also important factors because the way you think and act is an indication of what you are likely to end up with.
You are probably aware of people who see everything in negative ways, rarely seeing anything good around
them. As a result, nothing good seems to happen to them. It's almost like they're pushing it away. Remaining
negative can seriously affect your environment.
We highly recommend that you contact us and arrange a free geomantic consultation through our website. This
will expand on what you have discovered here, and at no obligation to you. See our website for details.
What's to do?
The main thing to recognize is this.....
No matter what your level of health and wellbeing is right now, no matter what you think or feel, the plain
and simple fact of the matter is that your environment is affecting you and the cleaner and clearer it is the
healthier and happier you are going to be. Therefore, to maintain optimal health and wellbeing your
environment, just like your car, your body or your physical environment, needs a regular cleaning.
The cleaning can be quick and easy or it might involve more detailed work, but it needs cleaning.
A carpet needs cleaning. Often it just requires a simple vacuum. But sometimes there might be wine stains or
something worse. Think of your energetic environment in the same way.
Now take your time and reread your answers and honestly assess your environment.
In Part 1, you carried out a careful review of your home. In Part 2, you were then shown what the questions
were looking at and why some of them were more important than others. You were also asked to honestly assess
your environment. We hope this has helped you understand more about what is going on around you.
In this final part, we will look at what are some of the possible results of having your space cleared. Plus we
will tell you how you can have all your regular clearings carried out for free!
Benefits:
People can benefit in various ways from having space cleared. Amongst the most obvious are physical
symptoms. However, the benefits are not always purely physical. They can range from the way your emotional
response to the environment changes to how well animals and plants thrive.
What follows is just a quick sample of some of the ways in which clients have been helped by having their
space harmonized.
1. Physical improvements:
a) A woman with constant head, neck and throat pains was found to be sleeping with her head over the
crossing of several noxious energy lines. Amongst the physical conditions were things like bad
headaches, mouth ulcers, sore throats, ear aches, styes (sties) on the eyelids and heavy head colds.
When the lines were cleared, her symptoms went away and she found relief from these constant
nagging irritations.
b) A number of horses suffering from colic and coliclike symptoms were relieved after the area their
feed was stored in was cleared of energy which was detrimental to their health. In this case, the
energy came into them through the feed and not because of where they were pastured.
c) A woman was suffering from depression and a general lack of vitality and was not responding to her
chemo treatment for breast cancer. She experienced a great turn around in her mood and in her
healing after clearing her space. Not only did she feel better, but she reported that she saw birds
coming up to the kitchen window for the first time in years.
2. Emotional improvements:
a) A young girl, an honors student, was having fugue states and was making up stories of people
coming to kidnap her. Her grades dropped disastrously and she began to harbor thoughts of suicide.
She reported seeing red eyes watching her every night. Her family was ready to take her for
psychiatric evaluation. After one clearing, she regained her composure, never saw the eyes again and
quickly reached her previous level of scholastic achievement.
b) After suffering from just not feeling right for years, with fewer and fewer wildlife being seen and
having arguments a lot of the time with her family (which did not used to happen), the wife
approached us to help her. The space was cleared and she began to notice big differences in the way
her family interacted. She said it was like they were all on Prozac(!). She also reported wildlife,
including turkey, elk and deer, being seen in larger numbers again.
c) Two young, sensitive children were noticing a lot of ghosts. In fact, they would casually talk of
seeing things like a girl and her dog walking through the room! Despite the acceptance of their
mother of what they were seeing, they began to feel uncomfortable and afraid. After clearing their
space, they returned to their happier, calmer ways again and reported that they couldn't see anyone
anymore.
Contents Copyright Sixth Sense Consulting, Inc 2008 139
3. Other improvements:
a) Clearing an office space remotely, we had feedback that there was a large fish tank in the area where
we had noted some detrimental energy. Fish frequently died in there. After the clearing, the fish
which had been ill and laying on their sides at the top of the tank, began to recover their vitality and
were soon swimming around happily again.
b) One man and his daughters were moving to a new state and a new life. In order to begin in the best
way possible, he asked for a clearing of the new property just after moving in. He only added his
furniture and did nothing else to the place. However, within a day, his new neighbors and some old
friends who were visiting, asked when he had repainted, as it looked so clean and fresh now. (Of
course, he hadn't done any such thing!)
c) A beautiful old cottage had been on the market for two years. We were called in to help with the
energies of the place. We cleared a long accumulation of negative energy there in various forms.
The seller had had no interested parties in many months. Noone had even come to look at it. We
were notified that within a week of our work, the place had had a buyer and was sold.
Conclusions:
This work can have so many benefits and can act positively in so many ways that it can be a very powerful and
reinforcing aspect of your life. Not only can you feel better, but the whole place can look better. Family
relationships can improve, wildlife can come back again and your pets and plants can thrive once more.
Imagine what having a place like that would add to your life!
Escaping completely from the stresses and strains of life, having a truly restful area where you can relax and be
at peace. That alone would be worth it. But if you have physical challenges or emotional concerns, this
technique can bring muchneeded relief.
Working remotely or onsite.
We use dowsing to assess your place. We use it whether we are actually there or using a plan. It doesn't matter
which. Dowsing is a method of finding what the problems are.
In case that sounds strange, remember that you can tell where things are and a lot of other details about a town
you've never visited just by looking at a piece of paper. We call it a map!
Well, the same idea applies in dowsing except that we are able to go a little bit further than just seeing where
things are. We can also find out how they feel and what to do about clearing them. It only sounds strange if
you've never done it, just as mapreading would be strange to someone who had never used one before.
