Nursing Care for Appendicitis

The patient presented with acute abdominal pain localized to the right lower quadrant. After an assessment, the diagnosis was determined to be appendicitis likely caused by a blocked appendix. The plan was for 4 hours of nursing interventions including positioning the patient, moving them slowly, applying comfort measures, and removing noxious stimuli to help manage the patient's pain. After 4 hours, the patient was able to demonstrate relaxation skills to promote comfort, indicating the nursing interventions were effective in relieving their pain.
