Organizations are increasingly focusing on developing core competencies rather than just skills to help them excel and be resilient during crises. Competencies refer to the inner abilities of employees that allow organizations to achieve common goals and increase their value. Competencies provide a common framework that integrates human resource functions like recruitment, training, performance management and succession planning. Competencies are now widely used to define job success factors, assess employee performance and development needs, map career progressions, determine compensation, and guide hiring decisions.
