Confirmation 10-11 Orientation
Confirmation 10-11 Orientation
What Is Confirmation?
Confirmation is a lifelong process of maturing in the Christian faith. This process begins
at baptism and continues until a person is called to be with God in heaven. Confirmation
includes a public ceremony in which baptized youth receive a blessing and publicly
affirm their faith.
On confirmation day, students will be asked the following:
“Do you intend to continue in the covenant God made with you in Holy Baptism:
to live among God’s faithful people;
to hear His Word and share in His Supper;
to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed;
to serve all people, following the example of our Lord Jesus
and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth.”
They will respond: “I DO, AND I ASK GOD TO HELP AND GUIDE ME.”
The confirmation program at Peace Lutheran Church seeks to faithfully prepare people to
seriously affirm their Holy Baptism. It is a program meant for people who desire to be
active and worshiping members of this congregation -- now and in their future years.
During our weekly class we will be introducing different Theological lenses, exploring the Bible,
and asking how God is active in the lives of the students. Each week youth will be asked to read
primary stories from the Bible (see attached Calendar) and asking their own questions of the
story. During Class time we will be discussing these questions and introducing the students to
Lutheran Theological Lenses to better understand their reading and their own faith. Students
will learn how these lenses shape our reading of scripture, and will also be asked to use these
lenses to view their own world and story.
What are the Expectations?
Confirmation expectations are all assigned a point value. If you are unable to complete all of the
expectations in a given category, you may make them up by completing additional items in
another category. This should provide flexibility for all involved, while still keeping clear
expectations. Additional points may be offered throughout the year at Pr. Matthew’s discretion.
The following is the recommended breakdown to accomplish the Confirmation Expectations for
this year.

this as the valuable part of this ministry and faithfully participate in it.
From time to time we will need chaperones for Confirmation specific events, please
