REGISTRATION DAY..AUGUST 5TH...TUESDAY...HOURS 7:30 A.M.-NOON
& 4-7 P.M.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * THERE IS NO EARLY REGISTRATION BEFORE THIS DATE*****************
Registration will take place on August 5, 2008. WE HOPE THAT YOU CAN PLAN YOUR VACATION
AROUND THIS DATE. Please plan to attend with your child as attendance on this day is very
important. When coming to school on this day, please plan on staying about 30-40 minutes. This
will allow time to fill out the proper forms, buy supplies and gather information about the new
school year. We will also have an evening registration for working parents until 7 P.M.
If your child finished this year at Riverdale, you will be asked to update your child's registration
sheet and fill out other forms. All new parents should bring immunization information, birth
certificates, social security numbers, and ESPECIALLY the report cards from former schools.
Kindergarten students pre-registered in the spring, but they need to come to registration day
also. Students must be 5 by Sept. 30 to attend kindergarten. Students must be 6 by Sept. 30 to
attend 1st grade. New kindergarten students must have a recent physical (dated on/after
February 11, 2008), their green immunization form, an official birth certificate ( NOT A
HOSPITAL COPY OR A MOTHER'S COPY ) and a social security number.
Buses will run on registration day. We do urge you, however, to attend with your child. It is
difficult, even with older students, to get all the phone numbers, and other pieces of information
that are necessary to obtain on this day.
IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS
4 DPT (The 4th DPT must be on or after the 4th birthday) 4 Polio 2 MMR
It is a State of Tennessee requirement that each child entering the school system receive these
immunizations prior to the beginning of school. Smallpox vaccinations are not required. The
measles and rubella must be given after the first birthday. All Kindergarten children must have
had the Hepatitis B series and Chicken Pox vaccination while incoming 7th graders must have the
Hepatitis B series to enter school.
The first full day of school will be August 11, 2008. Classroom rosters will be posted outside of
each classroom that morning. Please feel free to accompany your child on the first day of school.
We ask that you not enter the classroom after school. If you wait outside the building, the
children will be dismissed at the proper time.
Please read the introductory packet of information which will be given to you next fall.
Dismissal procedures, traffic patterns and other items will be given to you in detail at that time.
This will be very important information. It is often frustrating that some are asking questions in
April and May that were addressed in August and September.
DRESS CODE
As you shop for fall fashions this summer, please keep in mind the following.
DRESS CODE
Shelby County Schools students are expected to dress and appear in a
manner that meets reasonable standards of health, cleanliness, modesty
and safety. It should remain a matter of personal pride to maintain high

The responsibility for the appearance of the students begins with parents
and the students themselves. Students' clothing, make-up and hair styles
