Narrator 1: Every day thousands of teens wake up afraid to go to school.
Bullying
is a problem that affects millions of students, and it has everyone worried, not
just the kids on its receiving end. Bullying doesn’t happen just in schools. In fact,
bullying is a problem that happens in lots of different settings, including within
the communities. If your child is being bullied at school, the bully may live near
you and this could cause the bullying to continue outside of the school gates.
It is important to remember that bullying doesn’t have to happen face to face, but
can happen through other mediums as well. Countless young people attend a
youth, sports or music group. If your child expresses an interest to join a group,
ensure the organisation has an anti-bullying policy, outlining what support is
available to young people who wish to report a bullying incident.
Today we wish to show you examples of bullying inside and outside a school,
warning signs, effects of bullying, and who is at risk when someone is bullied.
Our goal by the end of this presentation is to make sure you are able to deal with
bullies and overcome your fears.
Can you guys think of what the word “bullying” means?
Bullying is basically when a person is being picked on over and over again by an
individual or group with more power, either in terms of physical strength or social
standing.
We are going to show three examples with each having to do with a different
subject and in a different setting. In the end, We want you to tell other or even
better ways in order for the target to get out of the situation.
Before we demonstrate the examples I want you guys to help us to try to figure
out why people in the first place even want to bully someone.
( Audience gives examples )
Those who bully others are looking to gain a feeling of power, purpose and
control over you. The easiest way of doing this is to focus on something that is
unique about you – either preying on or creating anew insecurity with an intent to
hurt you either physically or emotionally. What happens is, we, as the people
experiencing bullying, start to internalise it and we become self-critical.
As a result, we try to change or mask that unique characteristic in order
to avoid the bullying. For example, some people dye their hair so that
nobody can see any deficiency in the hair.
We will show you one example and we want you to tell us what is best to
do after the example.
(bang hit to the target by the bully should look unintentional)
(fall down)
What punk!
HUH?!
What? … I’m just here to tell you that you are doing my homework for
the rest of the month nerd. So get lost loser.
Why should I do it?
What did you say? Is that how you are supposed to talk to your elders?
(murmur) I never knew even nerds will break golden rules that have been
written by the principal. You have to do it or else the consequences are
going to be very brutal.
( At the end of break)
Hello Bob sir, I have to tell you something very important. It is about me
getting bullied by an elder person. I’m very scared sir!
Don’t worry Joe I will make sure everything is ok and that their parents
get notified.
Sir, he told me to do his homework for a month and if I don’t then he will
give me very brutal consequences. What should I do?
Don’t do the work and give me his books. I will keep them and you tell
him that the principal took it away. If anything happens please tell a
teacher or someone else about the incident. It will later come to my
notification anyways.
Ok, sir. Thank you, sir. Bye, sir.
This is how you are supposed to act when told by a bully or when acted
upon by the bully.
We will show two more scenarios but the character will not do any
problem soving. The problem-solving should be done by you guys.

Narrator 1: This is how you are supposed to act when told by a bully or
when acted upon by the bully. You should always tell an elder person
like your teacher if anything happens.

( One day during Basketball class)
( Target shoots the ball but airballs and hits the bully )
Who did that?!!
Sorry. (murmur )
Who do you think you are. Throwing balls whenever you want at who ever you
want. ( Shove the target as he falls down )
( Runs away )
Looser.
What would you do if were the little kid throwing the ball. Would you scream at
him for talking to you so rudely or not worry about at all.
Well those are all correct decisions now lets see what you will do on a digital
platform.
One of the most places that bullying happens outside of school is online usually
on social media chats like Instagram, Snapchat, Fortnite, and even Tik Tok.
One person sends you a text saying that you are so bad at basketball. For the
next two days they have been constantly reminding you about it. Will you find out
the person and track him down and then fight him.
