Behavior Contract PDF

The art class expectations contract outlines three main rules for student behavior: 1) Respect for others and supplies through following instructions, staying on task, listening, and proper use of materials. 2) Participation through raising hands and speaking one at a time. 3) Completing assignments on time and following directions. Consequences increase with repeated offenses from green to yellow to red, resulting in alternative art classes and after school detention. Students and teachers sign to acknowledge understanding and agreement with the expectations.

Art Class Expectations Contract

Classroom Rules:

1. Respect: An environment that fosters respect will be maintained at all times. This cornerstone of learning will be fostered
through Following Instructions, Staying On Task, Listening, and Use of Classroom Supplies.

FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS: STAYING ON TASK:

Look at the Person Look at your task or assignment
Say “Okay” Think about the steps needed to complete the Task
Do it right away Focus all of your attention on the Task
Check back when finished Stop working only when instructed
Ignore distractions from others

LISTENING: USE OF CLASSROOM SUPPLIES:

Look at the Person who is talking All supplies will be handled with care
Remain quiet Supplies will be put away in their proper location
Show that you are listening If more supplies are needed, ask the teacher

2. Participation: To maximize the learning environment, student participation is required. This will be achieved by
respecting the voice of all. To achieve this, only one person should speak at a time during class discussions and during
lessons. You must raise your hand if you have a question, need help, or want to answer a question or make a comment.
You are allowed to talk quietly while you work at your table with your table partners. Learning takes place at your desk,
so you are to remain seated and working at all times. If the overall volume of the class becomes too loud, you will lose
letters out of the word ART and receive consequences.

A – No music while you work and talking will be at a whisper

R – The remainder of art class will be a silent art class during work time

T – Clean up five minutes early and heads down for the remainder of class

3. Complete and Hand-In Assignments: Complete all assignments on time and follow directions. You are responsible for
any work you missed during an absence.

Behavioral Consequences: If a student fails to follow these rules the following consequences will occur:
1st Offense Green Consequence: Conversation after class with classroom teacher.
- If the behavior continues then you move to a yellow consequence.
2nd Offense Yellow Consequence: White Slip and an alternative art class for the following art class you are in
attendance.
- If the behavior continues then you move to a red consequence.
3rd Offense Red Consequence: White Slip, alternative art class for the following art class you are in attendance, and
you owe Miss Grogan 30 minutes after school (3:15 to 3:45)

I have gone over the art classroom behavior expectations with Miss Grogan. I understand what is expected of me, and I understand
the consequences if I do not follow these expectations.
