Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who are eligible for the programme?

Students who have completed 8th Standard and currently studying in


9th Standard ( from ICSE, CBSE and State Syllabus) are eligible for
the programme

2. Where I need to send the applications?

Applications need to be given to State authorities and State


authorities will select three candidates from respective States and
Union Territories and inform ISRO. No applications to be sent directly
to ISRO.

3. I am from Rural area, whether I get Rural student benefit?

To get the Rural student benefit, the school, where you are studying
should be located in the Panchayat/Village area and school Head
Master should certify for it.

4. When is the programme planned ?

The programme will be held in the 2nd half of May 2019. Exact date
will be informed later to the selected candidates.

5. When and where I need to report ?


This will be informed to the selected candidates only. All the required
information will be mailed to the selected candidates.

6. I am in 8th Std now, can I apply?


No
7. I am in 10th Std now, can I apply?
No

8. What is the selection criteria ?


The selection criteria is as mentioned below:

1 Performance in the 8th Std Examination 50%
2 Membership of Science Club/Space Club 5%
3 Prize in any school based individual extracurricular activity 2/4/6/10%
(Elocution/Debate/Essay Writing, science quiz, computer
modeling, scientific prototype model making, etc.,) at
District/State/National/ International Level (The higher
level will be considered for weightage)
4 Winners of District/State/National/International Level 2/4/6/10%
sports activities (The higher level will be considered for
weightage)
5 Scout and Guides/NCC/NSS Member 5%
6 Studying in Village/Rural School (Certificate of proof to this 20%
effect to be produced from the head of the school –
Criteria: The school, where the candidate is studying
should be located in Panchayath Area)
Total 100%
These criteria will be applied by the state authorities, when they
select the candidates.
