Impact of Jet
Installation of Impact of Jet Apparatus was done to determine the
preferred shape of the vane, for which Pelton Wheel will give the best
power output. The aim of this research was to determine the impulse
momentum theorem as it was applied to the impact of a water jet on
vanes with different geometrical shapes. Different shaped vanes were
used to measure the impact force and the flow rate to choose the best
shape of the vane for the turbine. The vanes used in our research were
categorized into four geometries- flat, inclined, spherical and conical.
Among them, spherical was preferable according to our research.

Afshana Morshed Tithi is a fresh graduate(2017) from the Department


of Mechanical Engineering,Military Institute of Science and Afshana Morshed Tithi
Technology,Dhaka,Bangladesh. She completed her HSC in
Science(2013) and SSC in Science(2011) from The Millennium
Farzad Hossain
Stars,School and College,Rangpur,Bangladesh. Her project Rifat Sultana Setu
works:'Rotary Parking System' & 'Rescue Robot'.
