FAMILY GRILLED CHICKEN

The famous Family Grilled Chicken is my favourite restaurant. I will always

find myself chewing clean a drumstick and licking my fingers every time I eat the
grilled chicken bought from the restaurant. Secret spices are mixed and rubbed all
over the chicken before it is grilled over a charcoal fire for hours. It is then served
with black pepper sauce.

The Family Grilled Chicken restaurant is only open on weekends. You can
find it on Tempurung Road. It’s fastest to use the short-cut along Rimbun Road.
The restaurant’s doors are closed until 5 p.m., but some loyal customers will even
start queuing up as early as 4.30 p.m. A whole fresh chicken at the food market
would usually cost between RM15 and RM20, but here I can enjoy a cooked one
for only RM16! It’s a great deal.

As the chickens are cooked in batches and left on the grill, there is always
piping hot, tender chicken to be enjoyed. For just RM5, you can add on fried rice.
It’s a shame that they don’t do my favourite dish – mashed potato – but salad is
another option if you prefer something healthier.

The owner started the stall because he loved grilled chicken. He was an
engineer before becoming the successful businessman that he is now. He first
learned the recipe from his uncle in 2010. He spent the following year trying out
the recipe before opening his stall in 2011. He has been grilling delicious chicken
and filling people’s stomachs ever since!
