ABSTRACT

Title: An Assessment of Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Program in

Barangay Panaosawon, Bayabas, Surigao del Sur.

The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) is the sole government agency

mandated to promote the development of the coconut and palm oil industry to full

potential. The study delved on the Assessment of PCA members who are

coconut farmers of Barangay Panaosawon, Bayabas, Surigao del Sur of the (7)

Puroks. The survey was conducted on August 16, 2018.

The study utilized the quantitative and descriptive method of research in

gathering data which the researchers took from the following: First, the

demographic profile of the respondents for us to know how many males and

females are farmers or members of Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) in

Barangay, Panaosawon. Secondly, the extent of implementation of Philippine

Coconut Authority (PCA) program in Barangay, Panaosawon, Bayabas, Surigao

del Sur regarding the programs implemented by the PCA. Third, are the benefits

brought by the PCA to the farmers of Barangay, Panaosawon, Bayabas, Surigao

del Sur, if any, regarding the multi-level of innovative livelihood, modernizes the

tools and equipment for farmers. And last are the common problems

encountered by the coconut farmers as regards climate condition, pests and

diseases, stressful growing condition of coconut tree. These are the common

problems that coconut farmers have encountered.

The researcher found out the one of the extent of implementation of PCA

was the National Planting/Replanting program, Rehabilitation thru Fertilization

program which was well – implemented. Moreover, the researcher as certain the

majority of the respondents are those members of PCA program. Therefore, the

researcher recommended the implementation of the programs may consider the

sustenance and strong support to the farmers through to the programs that they

implemented and to maintain production for them to be motivated in training and

the processing.
