EGY MAULANA VIKRI

Egy Maulana Vikri was born in Medan city, North Sumatra province on July 7, 2000. He
began his junior football career at SSB Tasbi in Medan. He attracted the attention of talent
seekers during the U-12 Grassroots Indonesia Championship. Egy then moved to the
Ragunan Training School soccer school.
In 2016 Egy entered the Indonesian national team squad participating in the Gothia Cup
event in Sweden. Egy successfully became the best and top scorer of the tournament and
brought Indonesia to be the champion. He repeated the same thing in the Soeratin Cup
tournament where Egy won, the best player and tournament top score.
In 2017 Egy Maulana entered the Indonesian Under-19 squad at the Toulon Tournament. At
the end of the competition, he received the Breakthrough Player award. Previously
legendary players like Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo had won the award while still
young. Egy Maulana's talent began to be highlighted by international media.
He continued the positive trend by becoming the top scorer of the AFF Cup U-19. Egy
Maulana's name even entered the list of 60 of the world's best-known English media
players, The Guardian. He was targeted by many European clubs. Egy had a trial at several
European clubs such as Benfica, Espanyol, Sporting Lisbon and Saint-Etienne.
In the end, Egy chose to join the Polish League club, Lechia Gdansk. He will start playing at
the start of the 2018-2019 season when he is 18 years old, the minimum limit for players in
the European leagues. Egy was even immediately trusted to wear costume no. 10. While his
work with the national team had already begun since a young age where he was often
trusted to appear with the senior Indonesian national team squad.
