Healthy Eating: Looking at the Canadian Food Guide
Outcome:
USC4.1 – Assess what healthy eating and physical activity mean for pre/adolescence
c) Discuss factors of healthy eating over which one has control (e.g., drinking more water).
e) Demonstrate an understanding of healthy food choices (e.g., analyze nutritional values of
particular foods) and serving sizes that support good health (see Canada's Food Guide).
Time: 1hr
Materials:
   Laptops
   Pencil
   Canada Food Guide Worksheet
   Health Duo tang
Introduction (5 mins):
    Show the class the food guide on the board.
    Explain the assignment, provide them with the link to the Canada Food Guide and
      explain to them that all the answers they need for the questions will be found on this
      website.
Main (35 mins):
    Hand out the activity sheet to students.
    Remind students to only be on the Canada Food Guide and to not be using their laptops
      for other reasons.
    If students complete their assignment there is a serving size worksheet to finish with a
      partner using the
Closure (20 mins):
    Exit Slip – One thing I learned, one thing I am confused about.
    Have students pull out action plan, answer questions for week one and set new goals for
      themselves for week 2
