The deep fried Pakoras may be tastier but definitely not healthier. They offer
little in terms of the nutritional value but put one at higher risks in certain health
conditions. Pakoras are generally high in fats and therefore high in calories also.
Some of the side effects of consuming excessive quantities of Pakoras are listed
below:
1. Obesity – greasy and fried foods makes one to gain weight which in turn
may lead to a condition known as obesity. Obesity leads to high blood
pressure, heart problems, diabetes and even death if not taken care of.
2. High cholesterol – deep fried foods contain high cholesterol.
Uncontrolled and uncared for excess cholesterol level can block the blood
flow in the arteries which may lead to heart failure or cause a stroke.
3. Poor digestion – greasy and deep fried food do not digest well. Neglect
on this aspect can lead to problems like excess gas formation, bloating,
stomach pain, irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhea, constipation and even
more serious problems like colon cancer.
4. Risk of gall stones – liver has to work extra and overtime to clean the
excess fat consumed through deep fried foods. If taken together with alcohol
and sugars much pressure is put on livers. Excess fats in food builds up in
liver and gall bladder and increase the risk of getting gall bladder
stones which is extremely painful though tiny in size.
5. Nutrition deficiency – by eating more fatty foods one tends
to eat less healthier foods which causes vitamin deficiency. In such
conditions skin become pallid. It may also result in muscle loss and
anemic conditions.
