General Education Lifelong Wellness: Bowling Class
What connections have you had from what you’ve studied in this LW course with what you’ve
learned from other courses you have taken at SLCC or have learned before taking this class? Make
specific references to your work in this class and in other courses. How did what you learned in
other courses enhance what you learned here, and vice versa?
Most of what I have learned in this class can be related to my nutrition class that I also took this semester.
This lifelong wellness class focused on making goals that were targeted towards our health as humans.
One such activity I had to complete for this class was by making physical fitness goals to complete during
the week. I decided to go on a run at least three times a week. In my nutrition class I learned how
important physical fitness is while also considering what we take into our bodies. So, both classes taught
me of the importance of physical fitness and how to make goals to better incorporate physical fitness into
my daily routine.
Reflect on what you thought about fitness and lifelong wellness before you took this course and how
you think about it now that you have completed the course. Have any of your assumptions or
understandings changed? Why? What assignments/activities/readings were influential in this
process? How will you approach what influenced you differently in the future?
Growing up playing baseball I have always noticed the importance of taking physical fitness seriously.
So, this class already taught me about things that I already knew were important. One thing that I like
about this class is how it focused on making weekly goals. These goals were simple for example. Drink
more water, use the stairs more, or stretch more during the week. These goals were very simple, but I
believe over time making these small life choices can improve the health and wellness of an individual. I
believe that I will try making more simple weekly goal in the future so that I can gain a better sense of
accomplishment and wellness in my busy schedule.
