Solve the following word problems.

Problems Solutions and Answers

1. Two angles are supplementary. If 5 times

of one angle is 10 times of the other angle.
Find the two angles.

2. The measure of the supplement of angle A

is 40 degrees larger than twice the measure
of the complement of angle of A. What is the
sum in degrees, of the measures of the
supplement and complement of angle A?

3. Twice the complement of an angle is 24

degrees less than its supplement. What is
the measure of the angle?

4. Two angles are supplementary. If the ratio

of the measure of the smaller angle to that of
the larger angle is 5:7. What is the measure
of the smaller angle?

5. One of the measure of supplement of an

angle is equal to the twice the measure of
the angle. What is the measure in degrees,
of the compliment of the angle?
6. Six times the complement of an angle is
40̊ less than its supplement. What is the
supplement of an angle?

7. Two angles are supplementary. One angle

is 24° less than thrice the other. What is the
complement of smaller angle?

8. The product of the angle and its

complement in degrees is 2016. What is the
larger angle? (Hint: Use the quadratic
formula, or try factoring.)

9. If ∠B is the complement of ∠A, and the

supplement of ∠A is 138°, what is ∠B –
∠A?

10. Two complementary angles are in the

ratio 4:6. Find the two angles.

11. A supplement of an angle is three times a

complement of the angle. What are the
measures of the angle, its supplement, and
its complement?
12. The measures of three angles are in ratio
1:2:3. If the total measure of the three angles
is 126°, what is the measure of each angle?

13. Given that ray OX bisects ∠BOS, if the

measure of ∠BOX is 2 more than twice a
number x, find the measure of ∠BOS in
terms of x.

14. Ray OY bisects ∠BOX. If the measure of

∠BOX is x+11 and the measure of ∠BOY is
x+3, find the value of x and measure of all
the angles involved.

15. If ∠1 ≅ ∠2, m∠1 = 3x, and ∠2 = 5x-22,

find the measure of each angle.
