they received their name.
However, you can get
geckos in different
morphs.
These geckos have a
detachable tail that they
can drop when attacked
by a predator and
regrow.

FUN FACTS:
• A leopard gecko’s gender is determined by
its incubation temperature. At 90° F,
virtually all the eggs are male; near 80° F,
most of the eggs will be female. An
incubation temperature of 85° F will
produce about an equal number of males
and females
• Leopard geckos store fat in their tails, and
can metabolize it when food is not available
OPTIMAL TANK CONDITIONS: • They are one of the only ground geckos.
Leopard geckos have claws instead of sticky
• Terrariums must be glass, not wire pads like most other geckos, making them
poor climbers
• Should not be housed together to
avoid injuries, unless heavily
• Their vision is much better than other

sounds like a small “bark”
• Leopard geckos are ectothermic,
which means they cannot produce
their own body heat. The require a
minimum tank temperature of 80-85
degrees and a basking spot that
reaches 88-90 degrees. This is
typically done by placing a reptile THINGS TO BE CAREFUL
