DECILE
A Decile is a Quantitative Method of splitting up a set of ranked data into 10 equally large
subsections.
The nine score points divided a distribution into ten equal parts.
THE DECILES FOR UNGROUP DATA
Is the data you first gather from an experiment or study
Example:
Find the 7th Decile 0r D7 of the following test scores of a random sample of 10 students.
36, 43, 41, 29, 16, 24 ,34, 21, 19 and 29
SOLUTION:
First. Arrange the scores in ascending order.
Ascending order
16, 19, 21, 24, 29, 29, 34, 36, 41, 43,
To find its decile position use this formula: no. of data
THE DECILES FOR GROUP DATA
are those values of the distribution that divided
total frequency to ten groups.
Where:
LB = lower boundary of the Dk class.
N = total frequency
Cfb = cumulative frequency before
i = size of class interval
K = nth decile where n = 1, 2, 3, …….
