Guidelines of Project Report

1. Margine. Project reports should be typed neatly only on one side of the paper with 1.5
or double line spacing on a A4 size bond paper (210 x 297 mm). The margins should
be: Left – 1.25″, Right – 1″, Top and Bottom – 0.75″.
2. No. of Copies required: The total number of reports to be prepared are
One copy to the department
One copy to each candidate.
3. Print out: Before taking the final printout, the approval of the concerned guide(s) is
mandatory and suggested corrections, if any, must be incorporated.
4. .Every copy of the report must contain:
i. Inner title page (White)
ii.Outer title page with a plastic cover
iii Certificate in the format enclosed both from the college and the organization
where the project is carried out.
iv. An abstract (synopsis) not exceeding 100 words, indicating salient features of the
work.

5. The organization of the report should be as follows


Inner title page
Abstract or Synopsis
Acknowledgments
Table of Contents
List of table & figures
Usually numbered in roman
6. Chapters (to be numbered in Arabic) containing Introduction-, which usually specifies
the scope of work and its importance and relation to previous work and the present
developments, Main body of the report divided appropriately into chapters, sections and
subsections.
7. Sections: The chapters, sections and subsections may be numbered in the decimal
form for e.g. Chapter 2, sections as 2.1, 2.2 etc., and subsections as 2.2.3, 2.5.1 etc.

8. Font Size: The chapter must be left or right justified (font size 16). Followed by the
title of chapter centered (font size 18), section/subsection numbers along with their
headings must be left justified with section number and its heading in font size 16 and
subsection and its heading in font size 14. The body or the text of the report should
have font size 12.

9.Figures & tables: The figures and tables must be numbered chapter wise for e.g.: Fig.
2.1 Block diagram of a serial binary adder, Table 3.1 etc.
10. Conclusions: The last chapter should contain the summary of the work carried,
contributions if any, their utility along with the scope for further work.
11. Reference : The references should be numbered serially in the order of their
occurrence in the text and their numbers should be indicated within square brackets for
e.g. [3]. The section on references should list them in serial order in the following
format.
For textbooks – A.V. Oppenheim and R.W. Schafer, Digital Signal Processing,
Englewood, N.J., Prentice Hall, 3 Edition, 1975.
For papers – Devid, Insulation design to combat pollution problem, Proc of IEEE, PAS,
Vol 71, Aug 1981, pp 1901-1907.
Proper attention is to be paid not only to the technical contents but also to the
organization of the report and clarity of the expression. Due care should be taken to
avoid spelling and typing errors. The student should note that report-write-up forms the
important component in the overall evaluation of the project
The reports submitted to the department/guide(s) must be hard bounded, with a plastic
covering.

FINAL REPORTS FORMATS


∙ The Completed Industrial Training Final Report must be submitted in Hard
Binding.
∙ Student must submit a soft copy of their industrial training Report in Interactive
CD.

Chapter 1: Introductions ( not more than 5 pages )


Chapter 2: Company Background & Structure (not more than 10 pages )
Chapter 3: Weekly Jobs Summary ( not more than 10 pages )
Chapter 4: Technical Contents (must be more than 40 pages)
Chapter 5: Findings And recommendations ( not more than 5 pages )
Chapter 6: Conclusion ( not more than 2 pages )

Chapter 1 : Introduction
This chapter consist a brief explanation to Industrial Training Course that includes
introduction, Industrial Training Objectives, etc.

Chapter 2 : Company’s Profiles/Background


This chapter introduces the company’s profiles such as introduction to the Company’s
Background, Organization Charts, Company’s History, company’s business activities,
mission, vision, etc.
Students are advised to seek advice from the company’s representative before writing
this page in order to prevent conflicts or leaking of company’s information.

Chapter 3 : Weekly Jobs Summary


Weekly Jobs Summary is based on the weekly summarize of
activities/tasks/jobs/projects handled by students. It is always put in a tabular forms.

Chapter 4 : Technical Contents/Reports


This chapter focuses on jobs/tasks or work performed during training. Only one chapter
is allocated for this report. If there are many tasks or parts that need to be stated in the
report, it can be broken down into sub-related topics.
All reports in the sub-topic must be explained in details and aided with related
diagrams, tables and pictures.

Chapter 5 : Findings & Recommendations


In this chapter, students are encouraged to write constructive and positive suggestions
for improvement in the future.

Chapter 6 : Conclusion
This chapter summarizes the whole contents of the report and matters pertain to
Industrial Training.

ABSTRACT

The report is a summary of the work experience I have been able to gather during my
industrial training program at xyz company.The report contains some of testing,
Commissioning and Troubleshooting on various (Name of Technical Field) for the
successfully completion of the training.

The abstract contains a brief reports and technical knowledge about industrial training
for example if any student works in the field of telecom then there is a brief introduction
about commissioning , testing, and troubleshooting of any device (1 paragraph).

The abstract also consist the benefit and future recommendation of industrial training
for polytechnic students.

In Conclusion this technical report is the summary of what I have learnt during
industrial training program.
