About This Role:


This is a part-time position with 25 hours scheduled per week as follows: Monday 3-8pm |
Tuesday 3-8pm | Wednesday 3-8pm | Thursday 3-8pm | Friday 2-7pm

Under minimal supervision, the Health & Fitness Coordinator oversees the Wellness Center and
performs fitness testing, equipment orientation, develops individual fitness programs and leads
training classes. S/he is responsible for implementing, coordinating, and evaluating monthly
wellness programs to employees and members.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:


1. Responsible for coordinating, implementing and evaluating monthly health and wellness
training programs. Responsible for producing program material, such as promotional material
and waivers if appropriate. Supports and promotes Hunter’s Life Shift programs.

2. Performs Wellness coaching by supporting and promoting individual healthy lifestyle changes
and goal setting on physical health, activity levels, nutritional patterns, personal demands,
seasonal factors and effective stress management.

3. Develops and revises individualized exercise programs for members. Provides instruction for
proper use of exercise equipment. Provides training and coaching on exercise, injury prevention,
nutrition, and fitness activities.
4. Checks members in at the front desk and ensure their membership is current.

5. Assists with customers and completes sales transactions for the pro shop and for nutritional
items. Order products that are requested, neatness and presentation of items available for sale.

6. Answers phones to provide information as to activities and events, general information,


scheduling of assessments.

7. Utilizes various marketing techniques to recruit new members and support member retention.

8. Collects articles and production and distribution of educational information.

9. Maintains inventory of promotional merchandise in the pro shop.

10. Teaches group exercise, monitors individual performance, adjust schedule according
customer needs and tracks participation.

11. Tracks and documents new and cancelled memberships.

12. Performs body fat testing and blood pressure checks when requested.

13. Conducts facility tours, sign up new members, and verify all paperwork is complete: liability
releases signed, payroll deduction or EFT forms completed and signed, photos taken, and
information logged into the KI system for tracking.

14. Inspects the building before opening in the morning to assure that facility is clean, orderly,
and a pleasant environment to work out in.

15. Maintains flexible hours and works a varied schedule due to company demand.

16. Manages upkeep of the whole facility and reports facility maintenance issues.

Other Job Functions:


Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Hunter Industries’ approach to the health and safety of each employee is based on adherence to
our Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). Every employee is responsible for their safety
and must work safely at all times. Employees are to immediately report all unsafe or hazardous
conditions, including injuries and near misses to their Supervisor, Environmental Health &
Safety Department, or Workers Compensation Manager. Those employees who do not comply
with safe work practices may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Education/Training Required:
Bachelor’s degree in health science or equivalent experience working in the health and fitness
industry.
Cardio‐pulmonary resuscitation and first aid certification.

Personal training and group exercise instructor certification from ACSM, NASM, NASC, ACE
and/or AFAA.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's) Preferred:


Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Spanish.

Physical Demands:
Ability to sit for varying amounts of time to perform paperwork activities, to use the computer,
to attend meetings, to perform fitness testing, etc.

Ability to stand and walk intermittently to monitor activities in the fitness center and to gain
access to other areas at the facility.

Ability to kneel, crouch and lie on back to perform minor machine adjustments and repairs and
to set up and demonstrate proper use of exercise equipment and other exercise techniques.

Ability to provide instruction and to demonstrate proper use of exercise equipment (stair climber,
rowing machine, exercise cycle, treadmill and weight‐lifting equipment).

Ability to kneel and to perform chest compression's to administer cardio‐pulmonary resuscitation


in an emergency.

Ability to climb stairs to gain access to upper level work area.

Manual dexterity and hand strength sufficient to inflate a blood pressure cuff to take blood
pressure during fitness testing.

Finger dexterity sufficient to use a computer and to complete paperwork activities.

Vision sufficient to complete fitness testing, to use a computer, to read written materials, etc.

Hearing sufficient to use a stethoscope to monitor blood pressure during fitness testing and to
communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.
Work Environment:
Inside wellness center (with temperature maintained at approximately 70 degrees Fahrenheit)
and other areas at the facility (with varying temperatures and floor surfaces).

Requires PPE as appropriate throughout the facility.
