This document is a patent from 1930 for an improved pair of scissors. It describes scissors where the blades are curved along an arc and pivotally connected to removable shanks. This allows the blades to cut hair directly instead of at an angle, preventing uneven cutting. The blades are clamped to the shanks using set screws and shoulders to maintain the pivotal connection when in use.

A blade 45 has flanged portions 46 which
engage over the edges of the shank 11 and
when the screw 28 is rotated sufficiently the
blade will be clamped to the shank 11 and

This plate is fitted between the edges of the
flanges 41 and a similarly constructed plate is
fitted between the edges of the flanges 46
of the blades 45 to cover the heads of the

When it is desired to remove the blades
for the purpose of replacing the same it is
only necessary to remove the plates 50 and
loosen the set screws 21 and 28 whereby the
blades 40 and 45 may be slipped respectively
from the shanks 10 and 11.
I claim:
A pair of scissors comprising a pair of
shanks, blades removably connected with the
30 shanks, said blades having flanges embracing
the shanks, set screws carried by the shanks
and engaging the blades for clamping the
flanges to the shanks, a pin secured to one
shank and provided with a flange, the other
35 shank having a recess to receive said flange,
the last-mentioned flange being engaged at
diametrically opposite points by the flanges
of the blade which embraces the shank having
the recess, plates provided with notches to
4) receive the pin and having the edges thereof
frictionally co-acting with the edge of the
fanges in a blade. . -
