Universal Design for Learning (UDL): forces students to participate, instant feedback, shy students
Engagement: This tool forces students to participate and engage because they have to submit an answer.
Representation: This tool allows students who are typically shy be able to express themselves and test their
knowledge without having to answer out loud. This could also be a tool to help represent non-verbal or ELL
students in the classroom.
Action and Expression: This tool allows students who are typically shy be able to express themselves and
test their knowledge without having to answer out loud.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
My students will watch a YouTube video on adding and subtracting to 20. It is linked into the Kahoot!
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: Durring the activity, the teacher will be

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and

☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After this activity, my students will split into groups of two and practice flash cards with a partner and then
independently complete a worksheet.

How will the data be used? After the students finish playing Kahoot!, the teacher is able to collect data to
see what percent of questions were correct and incorrect. She can take that information to then further
future math instruction with her students.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. My personal learning goal is to create a lesson that
students engage in and enjoy.

Reflective Practice: To further explain this lesson, my students could then make their own Kahoot! We could
take turns playing each students’ games in class.
