Internet – International Network
It is a worldwide network of millions of computers.
It is a medium for communication, research and
exchange of information.

It provides various services like:


1. e-mail 3. online gaming 5. marketing
2. file sharing 4. advertising
Internet Addresses
1. Number addressing (Internet Protocol Address)

Also called IP Address.


It is made up of four whole numbers in the range 0-
255, joined together by periods (dots), for example,
192.12.148.73 and 131.58.97.254
Internet Addresses
2. Letter addressing (Domain Name System)

Also called DNS, Domain Names

It consists of letters of the alphabet.


Example: hotmail.com, abudhabi.ae
World Wide Web (WWW)
It is a collection of websites.

Webpage
It can contain any form of data and information.

Website
It is a collection of webpages containing information.
Example is www.google.com
Web Browser
It is a software that allows us to access websites and
their graphics, sounds and animations.
Examples: Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox,
Google Chrome

Homepage
A homepage is the opening page or main page for a
particular website.
