Classroom Procedures
Arrival – When students arrive to school they must wait in the “fishbowl area”
by the main office. At 7:30, students will be permitted to go to their lockers and to
homeroom.
Transitioning between classes – Students have four minutes to transition to
their next class between periods. If a student arrives to class after the four-minute
bell, without a signed pass, they will be marked tardy. If a student is in the hallway
after the four-minute bell goes off they must have a signed hall pass.
Locker use – Students may be at their lockers from 7:30am – 3:05pm. They may
go to their locker during the four-minute break between classes or when they have
a signed pass from a teacher.
Homework – Homework varies from class to class. Homework is permitted. It is
the teacher’s decision to assign homework or not.
End of the day/dismissal – After the 2:50pm bell goes off; students may leave
the building for the day. It is their responsibility to know if they are riding the bus
home, getting picked up, or walking home.
Hall Pass Procedures – If a student needs to leave the classroom for any
reason during class, he/she will be required to get a hall pass signed by the teacher.
Any student in the hallways without a signed hall pass with be sent to the Dean’s
office.
Restroom Procedure – Students may use the restroom between classes. Unless
it is an emergency, it is made clear not to ask until independent/group work time.
When going to the restroom the student must get his/her monthly hall pass signed
before leaving the classroom. The hall passes are provided to help teachers keep
track of students in the halls and also to make sure the students are not abusing the
restroom privilege.
Nurse Visits – If a student needs to go to the nurse, he/she will be required to get
a hall pass (unless it is an emergency) signed by the teacher.
Fire Drills/Emergencies:
o Remain calm and quit so that you can hear your teacher’s instructions.
o Exit the building as quickly as possible in an orderly and safe way (do not
run, push or bump into other students).
o Line up outside in your designated area and remain quiet so that your teacher
can take attendance.
o The principal or secretary will wave a white flag and the alarm will stop
when it is time to reenter the building.
