Career Exploration Day Guide

LRTA Career Exploration Day provided students the opportunity to learn about different careers through visiting information stations. Students were instructed to be respectful, attentive listeners and to obtain answers to at least 5 questions from 2 or more presenters. LRTA Career Exploration Day

Ground Rules for Career Exploration Day:


• BE RESPECTFUL. Respect that time and energy that the presenter has given to support you in
making career decisions. Respect your classmates and try not to talk over one another when
asking questions of a participant.
• BE ATTENTIVE. Visit at least 2 Career Stations as you can and ask questions! Represent you and
Loch Raven Academy well.
• LISTEN. Stay focused on the presenter.
Directions for this assignment: Please review the questions below. When it is time to ask
questions take the opportunity to get answers to the questions. Also include the name of the
speaker who answered your question. You are free to visit as many speakers as possible, but
please try to get at least two questions answered per Career Station.
Your goal is to have at least five questions completed by the end of Career Exploration Day.
Your teacher will collect your worksheets at the end of the sessions. This assignment will be
graded.
Please feel free to ask any additional questions you may have for your presenters that are not
on this sheet.

ANSWERS Ms. MJ- Dance Teacher
1. What made you want to I have danced all my life! I started when I was very small and was in

then, I decided to teach more permanently and applied to work at
my current studio.

studied jazz, modern, and hip hop. As I got older, I joined a pre-
professional youth hip hop company called, Future Shock DC as
well as did dance and cheer throughout middle and high school.
3. What do you enjoy about I really enjoy working with my students! The relationships I have
your job? with them and the bonds they create with each other is truly
special to watch and be a part of. Recitals are fun, too! Watching
my art on stage is a great feeling. When the audience applauds for
their hard work and showcase, it makes me feel good about what I
contribute to the studio.
4. Is there anything you dislike Obviously, being a dance teacher is very physically demanding.
about your job? Because I dance on a company as well, I find that I often overly
work my body when I should be resting it. I guess what I don’t like
is not having much time to let my body physically relax and recop.
5. What would you recommend Always was remember there are two ways to getting into this field
for someone who wants to hold of work - one is through college and the other is through

your job to decide how you want to get there.
