Coding and Decoding

Coding is the process of encrypting / creating codes for a given information. In this topic we

need to decode/find the pattern of coding used.

▪ Generally, symbols/numbers/alphabets are used for coding

Types of coding:

▪ Number coding – numbers are used for coding

▪ Symbol coding – symbols are used for coding

▪ Language coding

▪ Chain coding

▪ Simple & jumbled coding

▪ Complex coding

The following points are to be kept in mind while solving questions from above types

▪ Numerical position of letters in English alphabet both in forward and backward /

reverse direction is to be kept in mind

=> At times alphabets in a given word is replaced in the code with alphabet which comes
