RULES FOR MAINTENANCE
Do not carry out any work on the machine unless you have followed
a suitable training course and have the knowledge required for it.
Make sure you have taken into consideration all the indicator plates
on the machine and in the instruction manual.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS AND SAFETY NOTICE
Be careful not to burn yourself when touching hot liquids or parts
when operations have to be done before the machine has had
time to cool down.

Before carrying out any operation on an electrically powered

component, activate the battery cut-off.
2 If the telehandler does not have a battery isolation device, disconnect
the battery connecters then re-assemble them.
Before carrying out any welding operations, think about
disconnecting computers.
ECU
A machine operating in a contaminated environment should be
specifically equipped. Moreover, local safety notices deal with
maintenance and repair work on such machines.

PREAMBLE
This chapter deals with the general instructions and safety notice during servicing checks and works.
The other instructions and warning texts are indicated in the chapters concerned.
In order to reduce the risk of accidents, please:
– Follow the instructions in the operator’s manual and the truck servicing instructions.
Notice present in all trucks.
– Follow the safety instructions.
– Use the appropriate tools for all work that needs to be carried out.
– Use the original Manitou spare parts.
If these instructions are not followed, it creates a risk of accidents occurring, the severity of which could
be as extreme as causing death.
A person who follows the safety instructions and a well-serviced machine make a safe, effective and
profitable combination.
When you see this symbol:
It means: warning! Be careful! Your safety, the safety of others or the safety of the lift truck is at risk.
The manufacturer cannot predict all possible risky situations. Consequently, the safety instructions
given in the operator’s manual and on the lift truck itself are not exhaustive.
As the repairer/operator, you must foresee at all times, within reason, the possible risk to yourself,
to others or to the lift truck itself when you repair, service or drive it.
Manitou does not assume any liability if the lifting device, tools or working methods other than those
stipulated are used.

Before any operation:
1 - Place the machine on a flat surface and block the wheels.
2 - Switch off the engine and remove the ignition key.
3 - Let the machine cool down.
4 - Relieve any pressure in the affected circuits.

SERVICING RULES
Do not carry out any work on the machine without having the
necessary training and knowledge to do it.
Be aware of all information notices on the machine and in the
operator’s manual.
If you have to carry out work on the machine before it has had the
time to cool down, be careful not to burn yourself on parts or hot
liquids.

Isolate the battery before starting any work on an electrically-
2 powered element.
If the truck is not equipped with a battery isolator, disconnect the
battery connector and then reconnect them.
ECU b Before welding anything, do not forget to disconnect
the computers.
A machine operating in an infected environment (polluted or harmful
to health) has to be fitted out in a certain manner. Furthermore,
the local security instructions determine how to carry out servicing
works and how to repair such a machine.

Never step on a surface of the machine that was not designed for
this purpose.
Never wear objects, jewellery or clothes which could get caught
during your work and cause personal accidents.
Always use protective goggles, gloves, protective shoes as well
as any other protection necessary to carry out the work.
During any servicing works carried out near a mobile element,
always make sure the element is secured.
When changing or draining oil or fuel, or any other works concerning
the elements, liquids, solids and gases which are harmful to the
environment, make sure the necessary measures are taken to not
pollute the environment.

When any machine component is lifted or shored, ensure that the
equipment used is intended for at least the load that it is subjected
to by said component and that it corresponds to the national
standards for lifting devices.
When using a jack, ensure it is used on a flat, unchanging, load-
bearing surface which can handle the intended load, that it has
a sufficient lifting capacity and that it is correctly placed and
positioned on the machine.
Make sure that no object or tool that could cause an accident is lost
in the machine.
Never control a possible leak with your hands.

STANDARD TIGHTENING TORQUES
Standard tightening torque to be used when not otherwise indicated in the removal and refitting
operations:
- The following tightening torques are given for hexagon head screws without flanges and
cylinder head hexagon socket screws.
- The torques are given for a friction coefficient of μ = 0,20 corresponding to dry-fitted zinc-plated
fasteners and for torque tools having a ± 20 % class C tightening torque accuracy (equivalent
to pneumatic screwdrivers).
