Abstract
The economic downturn is among the worst enemy to all mankind. This study was
designed and developed based on engineering techniques and properties of bananas to provide a
manual driven low cost banana slicing machine. The development of this machine begins by
identifying problems that concerns the consumer, and targeted local entrepreneurs because
imported machine costly as well. It also studies the banana chip processing available in the
market.
The machine is based on the concept adapted from the problems. Next, careful material
selection process begins in order to make sure the material is safe and low-cost. Then,
forecasting and estimating the total selling price.
The banana slicing machine mainly consists of feeders, cutter, shaft transmission of the
motion of the cam and the follower, base support and frame. The researcher assumes a minimal
force to apply to be able to use by anyone. The researcher allowed the user to adjust the
installation of the blade (strings) in order to maximize the option of different shapes of the
banana.
