COURSEWORK 1: Individual Assignment 30%

Purpose:
The focus of this assignment is to provide the students with the opportunity to develop secondary
research skills and to develop an in-depth understanding of the topic of choice in order to learn
how to conduct critical analyses on the readings and to relate theories to practice as per learning
outcomes 1, 2 and 3.

Requirements:
Choose any Two (2) journal articles on the latest performance management trends topic under the
syllabus of this course. The articles selected cannot be older than 2013.

Conduct a critique of the Two (2) journal articles by focusing on the following:
1) Performance management related theories or models inherent in the articles
2) Applicability in the workplace
3) Limitations of the research or study
4) Comparative analyses of the two (2) articles – in terms of relevance to the understanding of
performance management

There is NO need to attach the Two (2) journal articles in the Assignment. However, the articles
MUST be approved by facilitator prior to the writing of the Assignment and the email Approval
MUST be attached as Appendix. Assignments where the Two (2) articles are NOT approved by
the facilitator will NOT be marked and will be awarded a “ZERO” mark.

Assessment criteria will be based on the Form as shown below which is to be attached to the
assignment before the final submission.

Submission: The assignment should be submitted both soft copy and hard copy. Soft copy should
be submitted electronically via the course Blackboard. ALL assignments are required to be
checked using the plagiarism detection software embedded into the course Blackboard known as
TURNITIN.
