Alumni Articles
Wildlife Photography has fascinated Nitin since childhood. While there are
lots of wild animals which needed to be conserved, he started his little
steps rescuing snakes which seemed to require major attention in
metropolitan cities. His passion towards them didn’t take him long to learn
about the species and start rescuing them. Well, it just didn’t stop there,
his vision was to reach a bigger crowd not just one city and there is such
diverse wildlife out there to learn about isn’t it? For this he had to travel
places. He started exploring the pristine rain-forests of Western Ghats to
make images. The intent was to explore unexplored wilderness to create
powerful pictures which depict the beauty which lies in South Indian
forests and in turn promote conservation through photography. Back in
those days he didn’t have a DSLR. When the need for something becomes
essential, you are forced to find ways of achieving it. We all document our
travel using our smart phones.
But do you really know these gadgets can make wonders if we learn to
make the best use of it? And of course understanding nature’s ways is an
added advantage. Wait, let’s get to ground realities. There are lot of
Nitin Shenoy challenges to it – the leeches during monsoons, no network, saving money
(BCA Alumni(Batch of 2010) to travel, taking off from your regular work, planning time, finding
reasonable accommodation, and much more.
Adventure is not a cake walk you see and that’s what makes it captivating. Against all odds, today Nitin has achieved a little
of lot more which is in store. We are sure his images speak more than the story here.A Wildlife Photographer, Certified Eco
Volunteer from Karnataka Forest Department and an Authorized Wildlife Rescuer from BBMP - he has has rescued 3000+
snakes in Bengaluru and now organises wildlife photography tours/workshops educating enthusiasts & promoting
conservation through photography.
His image of green vine snake has won numerous accolades on online photography platforms, facebook photography groups,
contests, and chosen for display at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bengaluru as Top 100 among thousands of entries
submitted for Saraljeevan Network Photography Awards 2017. His images have even been even displayed at Art2Wow
exhibition in Ireland.

Surana college, BCA department has played a vital role in shaping my career. May it
be the Esoteric events , Rahul Kapoor sessions, Mentoring and Buddy program,
Varnotsava and various fests. Each event has brought out a new quality out of me
which is very important for the corporate life as well as personal life. Learning curve
was immense during my 3 years of graduation. Every occasion at college was fun
and memorable. Along with the leanings, department has provided me various
platforms to gain cherish-able moments. Today, As I can proudly say that am an
Assistant Manager In a reputed organization, it is important that I give the credits
completely to the college , department, teachers, mentors and friends.

I fell out of words when I wanted to share my experience I had, being a student of
Surana college. I was blessed to have such a ‘wonderful’ teaching and non-teaching
faculty in Computer Science department, who helped me in understanding the
subjects with an ease. I still remember the day when I met the charismatic person in
my life ‘Prof. Srinivas’ (HOD of Computer Science department), he motivated and
pulled me out of my comfort zone and I was able to achieve things which I had never
taught I was cable of doing it. I am thankful to ‘Esoteric-The IT Club’ the platform
which helped me to shape myself to face the outside world confidently. If I could
invent a time machine, then I would surely do a time travel back to my past and
relieve the golden days I had spent with my friends and faculty @ my college.
‘Thank you’ is the least I can say to College and Computer Science department to
show my gratitude for helping me in fulfilling my dreams.

Characteristics that changed my life during the journey at Surana College

Knowledge not only in terms of studies (BCA – Bachelor of Computer
Applications), it also added to enhancing my general knowledge in all
fields.
 Skills:The ESOTERIC club which plays a major role in the life of a
student in this college tuned my soft skills, gestures, ability to speak in
public. This has helped me present my best to the world with effective
communication.
Approach towards life: My Guru’s (HOD and teachers) had not only
taught me the curricular subjects but also trained me on how to react to
situations in life. With their love I have learnt not to lose hope and fight
for what I want to achieve. The support from College has made me pro-
active in various aspects like, the development (coding), enrollment in
competitions, sports activities like Table Tennis and Cricket. “Winning is
not all that important, but participation is”, this is what they have
always preached us to believe in.
