Chapter One
I scowl in frustration as the scorching sun tortures me from above.
Beads of perspiration trickle down my hairline and I’m already sweaty and
sticky from the short distance walk. The chattering of voices consumed my
ears as I entered the gates of Westman High. Scurrying through the hyper
crowds, I could feel the constant stares attacking me. “Oops….. Sorry”, I
just accidentally bumped into someone and dropped everything in hand.
“What the…..can’t you flickin see where you’re going, damn it!!” the girl
exclaimed “you just made me drop my make up “with her perfectly shaped
eyebrows arched. Everyone’s standing and staring like paparazzi. There
are two other girls at her side and all dressed in tight miniskirts and tank
tops. “Ok then…”, I mumbled to myself. “What did you say bitch?”, she
growls at me. I continue to take up my books pretending that the day is
going as planned. “Beatrice…..look Caleb’s back in school”, shouts one of
the girls with her excitedly. She hits me a harsh stare and mutters
something to her friends before running off to see some boy. I grab my
things ignoring everything/everyone and get to my first class quickly
before any more mishaps are to occur.
The corridor is filled with students rolling on skateboards, kicking
footballs and some just gossiping. They are all watching me for some
reason I don’t understand, but that’s okay to me since I don’t really need
friends after having some many books to live with.
Yea my life’s kinda boring especially since I moved back to Manhattan
with my dad, and considering the fact that it was his idea that I needed to
start afresh with some new friends and a perfect life of my own after my
mom passed on a year ago. But this is my first day I school and I would
have lied and said it was going lovely so far but nahh…I highly doubt I’m
going to be liked by anyone since a total humiliation in front everyone this
morning.
I enter my math class and takes a seat quietly to the front without
making myself known to anyone. The teacher’s not here yet but there is a
bunch of weirdos gathered in the back. Just then a group of boys and girls
walk in paying no attention to anyone in the class. However, some of the
guys went to the back and began to bully some of the weird kids-I feel
terribly sorry for them. I mean I know they weird and nerdy, but still
they’re human you can’t just walk in a place and bully people around just
because your big and popular. I remain quiet and just tried to focus my
energies where else other than here. “ Pleasant good morning girls and
boys”, with her back turned towards us she explains the topic and writes
on the board. I remember this teacher, its miss Parkinson. She was the
teacher who registered me in the system wishing me a pleasant stay here
assuring the move was worth it-sure......Class is over finally-I think I
daydreamed the entire class.
“Angel is it…Angel Luvinson if I remember right” her kind face forms and
flashing smile.
“Correct is right Miss Parkinson”I smiled
“Well I do hope you enjoy it here sweetheart,”
“I already love it here. It feels like home to me”, who I’m I fooling?
I quickly dash out my class refusing to suffer with my lies any more.
“Hey…you Angel right??” a blue eyed girl questioned. Her blond locks
brushed her shoulders and her kind face revealed she wasn’t any type of
bitch.
“Yea, I’m Angel…the new kid” I draw a weak smile upon my thin lips.
“I’m Steffy” she extended her hand forward and we shook hands like
business partners, “I’m new here as well…I came late and meet your dad
on the way he told me about you, my dad works with him and I just
guessed it was you…..you guys resemble a lot”
I chuckled, “I don’t think so…”
“It’s getting late, we better get to the next class before we’re in trouble on
our first day”
“Yea, we better get to it”, I agreed.
