My Expectations in Law School

When I decided to enrol in law school, there were two things that came directly to
my mind; first, if I will be able to make it despite the busy schedule of my job and,
second, if I am ready physically, mentally, emotionally and financially. I asked myself
these two (2) questions several times because based from the stories that I have heard
from my friends that being in the law school is not that easy. But my willingness to learn
and become a lawyer someday won the battle.

Now that I am already a law student, my first expectation is for myself to become a
sincere and responsible person who can manage to balance his studies, work and social
life. A person who acts on situations with utmost sincerity and dedication to be able to
have an output that is at least on the average.

My second expectation is to my professors. I am hoping that they will understand

that there are days during this semester that I cannot attend their class due to the
demands of my job which I consider as my bread and butter. But this expectation of
mine comes with a responsibility to read more and study harder in order for me to cope
up with the lessons that I missed during the days of my absence.

Third, being in a law school is a battle, a battle that cannot be won by me without the
help of others particularly my professors and classmates. Therefore, I am expecting that
my classmates would be kind enough to help me with this battle, that whenever I missed
a class, I am hoping that they will help me to understand the coverage of the previous
lessons including the homework that our professors gave us. This may look like a small
favour to ask on them, but for me, this is of great help.

Lawyers are well known for being courageous people. It is inculcated in the minds of
the people that lawyers can face anything thrown at them. My fourth expectation is for
PLS and my professors to help me improve myself as a professional and as a person. A
person who can face every challenge this world throws at me. I admit that I have so
much to improve to myself in order to pass every subject that I enrolled in but with
proper guidance and help, I know that I can make it.

Beginning the day I finally decided to enrol in PLS, I inculcate in my mind that this
is the day that I have waited for a long time. The day where my life will change from an
easy-go-lucky guy to a more responsible and disciplined person who knows how to
prioritize things of more importance than to just waste God-given time. What I wrote in
the foregoing are just my personal expectations as a newly-enrolled student in the law
school. But I know, as time goes by, that these expectations of mine may change
depending on the situations that I am into.
