CHAPTER I

PAGASA or Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and

Astronomical Service Administration which was created

on December 8, 1972 by the virtue of the Presidential

Decree No. 78 recognizing the Philippine Weather Bureau

as PAGASA is the Philippine National dedicated to

provide flood and typhoon warnings, public weather

forecasts and advisories, meteorological, astronomical,

climatological, and other specialized information and

services primarily for the protection of life and

property and in support of the economic, productivity,

and sustainable development.


PAGASA is the agency in charge of providing the

latest and most reliable weather forecasts,


Weather forecasts provide the possible prediction

of what the weather will be like in the near future.

They are important to the most aspects of the day to

day life of every person, including aviation, boating,

other modes of transportation, farming, tourism,

education, sports, etc. Without accurate weather

forecasts, the people involved in the activities listed

may end up in dangerous and life risking situations

they were unprepared for and end up injured or worse.
