With an aim to make our students future ready…… we have assigned them a number of projects from
within the subject domains that are research based. Choose the topics that excite you, explore the
creative side of you and present your work as per the specific guidelines given by your mentors.
                                                         ENGLISH
Read the book, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Dover Thrift
Edition) and do any one of the following questions on A4 sheets:
1. Sherlock Holmes is a legendary character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. ‘Elementary, my dear Watson’, a
phrase attributed to his great detective leaves his companion, Dr Watson amazed at the logic he gives after solving a
crime.
From the repertoire of stories given as vacation read, go through the minute details on Sherlock Holmes’ character as
given in the ‘Hound of the Baskervilles’. Concentrate on his age, mannerisms, personality, attitude, thought process and
anything that strikes you as unique. Write a character sketch of this interesting character in 150-200 words. Alternatively
let the artist in you draw/ sketch a picture of Sherlock Holmes as you imagine it.
2. With the solving of intriguing cases through the most logical reasoning, Sherlock Holmes contributes to the
preservation of law and order. Comment on the statement quoting two stories that you read in the book suggested to
you.
3. How does Sir Arthur Conan Doyle create an atmosphere of mystery and build suspense in his stories. Comment on
his unique style of narration that keeps the reader riveted to the stories.
4. Create a profile of the famous author, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Put pictures and interesting information about him.
Include a note about his most famous creation, Sherlock Holmes. Also write a short summary of any one of the
adventures/mysteries that you have read in te book suggested to you.
5. Choose your favourite scene from any one of the story that you read in the book, The Adventures of Sherlock
Holmes. Create a comic strip of the scene with colourful illustrations to make it a visual treat for the reader. Don’t forget
to include dialogues/ conversation as mentioned in the story/ scene selected by you

Make a project on emotions using survey method.
1. Prepare a questionnaire for assessing the relationship of emotions with another variable.
2. Give this questionnaire to any 10 individuals (strangers) and request them to fill it for you.
3. After data collection, analyse the data and form reasonable conclusions for the same.

Technology has been changing the world as we see it at an extremely fast pace - with new and unique disruptive ideas
in each and every part of our lives. The world is at the brink of the Fourth Industrial Revolution – and things are
becoming increasingly smart and connected. India has been leading this space with several initiatives like Atal
Innovation Mission, Start Up India, various grant schemes for new generation entrepreneurs etc; giving opportunities to
youth to express their creativity and become innovators and entrepreneurs.
Keeping this in mind, the task given below aims to give young students a platform and opportunity to become solution
creators for the problems they see around them and their communities. This will allow them to gain a basic
understanding of ‘Skills of the Future’ such as Design Thinking, Ideation - idea generation, Making, Do-It-Yourself (DIY)
Concepts, Collaboration etc.
Project work can be investigatory/ working/ non working models with reports and evidences. It can be done in either
group of two or four students.

Sports are an integral part of the culture of every country. Other than the popular games that we all are familiar with,
some indigenous games are played in our sub-continent.
Select two games each from India, Sri Lanka and Nepal.
          · Make a colourful presentation which should be an ensemble of pictures and playing methodology of each
          game.
          · Try playing at least TWO games and write a report of your experience of playing the games with your
          friends.
