1) A poor stranger arrives in a village looking for food and shelter but the villagers refuse to help him, saying they have nothing. 2) The stranger decides to make bean soup to share with the villagers. As the soup cooks, the villagers become curious and start contributing ingredients. 3) A delicious soup is created that the stranger shares with the whole village. The villagers realize their kindness to the stranger instead of the magic beans.

THE MAGIC BEANS.

A very, very good morning to the honourable

judges, accurate time keepers, my lovely teachers and

my fellow friends. I am here with my interesting story

entitled ‘The Magic Beans’.

A poor, kind stranger was travelling all over the

country. One day, he arrived at a village. He was hoping

for a place to stay for the night and also some food.”I

am in a terrible hunger”.

However, when he entered the village, the villagers

hurriedly went to their houses. They locked their doors

and windows. The stranger felt puzzled at the

behaviour of the villagers. Then, he went to a house of

a villager.

The stranger knocked on the door. A villager

opened the door.

“Greetings friend! I am looking for a place to stay

and something to eat before continuing on my travels,’’

said the stranger.

“I am afraid we have no food here. My family and I

are starving. It is better for you to go elsewhere,” said

the villager.

“That is all right, I have all that I need. I was

actually thinking of making bean soup and to share it

with everyone,” said the stranger.

The stranger went to the middle of the village. He

then took out an iron pot from his bag and filled it with

water. Next, he built a fire around the pot. As the

water was boiling, he took out a bean from his silk

pouch and put the stone into the pot.

The villagers opened their windows and curiously

watched the stranger. He stirred the “broth”. After

awhile he sniffed it and licked his lips. The villagers

slowly came out of their homes.

“Mmmmm,” the stranger said loudly. “This bean

soup is delicious. Of course, it would be better if I had

some cabbage to add to the soup.”

At first no one came, however after awhile a

villager soon approached the stranger. He was carrying

a small cabbage.

“I found this cabbage in my kitchen. You can use it

for the soup,” said the villager.

“Fantastic!” said the stranger as he accepted the

cabbage.

“If only there was a bit of salt beef, the soup

would be even more delicious,” said the stranger.

This time, the village butcher approached the

stranger. He said he had found some salt beef in his

shop and passed it to the stranger. The stranger

thanked the butcher.

Little by little the other villagers too approached

the stranger. They gave him potatoes, onions, carrots

and mushrooms.

Soon, a delicious soup was prepared. The stranger

shared the soup with everyone in the village. All the

villagers enjoyed the soup.

Later, the village elder offered to buy the magic

beans from the stranger for a lot of money. The

stranger however refused to sell it. The next day, he

was walking through some woods near the village. A

group of children were playing there.”Hey children,

come here”.

The stranger gave the pouch to the youngest child.

He told him the beans were not magical but the

villagers who had performed the magic.

HAHAHAHAHA.So,friends,we must be smart to solve

any problem. Thank you.
