Mini Brim Hat

This document provides instructions for making a Mini Brim Hat using bulky yarn and a size K crochet hook. The hat is worked in continuous rounds without turning. It begins with 6 single crochet stitches and increases each round by placing 2 single crochet stitches in the last stitch of the round until there are 60 stitches. The stitches are then worked even for 14 rounds. Another increase round is done to create 90 stitches which are worked even for 2 more rounds before fastening off. Supplies:

Category 5 bulky yarn (sample uses I skein Deborah Norville’s


Serenity Chunky Weight in “Pristine”-3.5 oz/109yds

Size K crochet hook

Finished Circumference: 20.5 inches

Gauge: 6.5 rows x 6 sc = 2” x 2”

Notes: Each round is worked on the right side without turning.

Instructions:

Rnd 1- In magic ring, sc 6-6 sc

Rnd 2- Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around-12 sc

Rnd 3- Ch 1, *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around-18 sc

Rnd 4- Ch 1, *1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around-24 sc

Rnd 5- Ch 1, *1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around-30 sc

Rnd 6- Ch 1, *1 sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around-36 sc

Rnd 7- Ch 1, *1 sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around-42 sc

Rnd 8- Ch 1, *1 sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around-48 sc

Rnd 9- Ch 1, *1 sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around-54 sc

Rnd 10- Ch 1, *1 sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around-60 sc

Rnd 11- Ch 1, 1 sc in each sc around-60 sc

Rnds 12-25- Rep row 11-60 sc

Rnd 26- Ch 1, *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around-90 sc

Rnd 27-28- 1 sc in each around-90 sc

Fasten off with an invisible join. Weave in ends
