METHOD STATEMENT FOR UTILITY BLOCK

1) SURVEY WORKS:-

1.0 Item of Work SURVEY WORKS


2.0 Activities 1 Identification of reference baseline and permanent benchmarks and
column positions.
2 Verification of already established baseline and benchmarks.

3 Establishment of sub-baseline and benchmark reference for building.

4 Establishment of main grid lines for the stretcher from the above
baseline and benchmarks. Marking out Excavtion lines as per GFC
drawing.
5.0 Duration In line with the construction schedule of the project.
6.0 Plant & Machinery Total Station and Auto Level
7.0 Tradesmen A competent and qualified surveyor will be engaged to execute the surveying
work.

8.0 Health & Safety 1 Safety Helmets will be provided.

2) EXCAVATION:-

1.0 Item of Work


EARTHWORK EXCAVATION
2.0 Activities 1 Obtain construction drawing from the Consultant.

2 Layout of Excavation will be marked on the leveled ground according to the drawing.

3 Excavation will be done mechanically and dressing will be done


manually/mechanically.

4 Excavated earth will be placed into dumper through excavator and taken out from the
site.
5 Surplus earth will be disposed off to designated areas.
3.0 Drawing Approval 1 Excavation Layout showing location and dimensions
4.0 Activity Description 1 Obtain ''Good for Construction" drawings from the consultants.
2 Excavation plan will be prepared, submitted and approved from consultant.
3 Layout of Excavation is marked as per the approved plan drawings by lime powder.

4 This marking will be done by using total station with respect to sub-grid pillar already
established.
5 Excavation will be done with one excavator for sufficient length as width of footing
keeping working space of 300mm. Earth will be transported outside the premises using

dumpers.

5.0 Duration In line with the construction schedule of the project.


6.0 Plant & Machinery JCB, Dumper & Tractor
7.0 Tradesmen Only excavation workers who are skilled in the excavation work will be employed.

8.0 Health & Safety 1 Safety Helmets and Safety Shoes will be provided for excavation workmen.

2 Barricade will be provided all round the excavation area.

3 Danger Signs will be displayed near the excavation areas.

4 Safe access path will be ensured to the excavation area with the help of walkways.
First Aid Box will be kept at the site office.

3) PLAIN CEMENT CONCRETE:-
This is generally a mix proportion of cement, sand coarse aggregate and water as specified in tender for
designated work location. The concrete mix proportion chosen should be such that the concrete is of adequate
workability for the placing conditions of the concrete and can properly be compacted. In the ‘very low’ category of
workability where strict control is necessary, on quality of concrete. Measurement of workability be determination of
compacting factor will be more appropriate than slump (see IS 1199) and a value of compacting factor of 0.75 to 0.80
is suggested.
SCOPE OF WORK:
 Cleaning & clearing unwanted debris from concreting area.
 Mixing of concrete in Plant.
 Transporting and placing.
 Compacting.
 Curing.

work commencement

SPECIFIC WORK METHOD STATEMENT: -


a) Preparation of works:
 Prior to commencement of work, clear the unwanted debris/loose soil from concreting area.
 Establish the marks for concreting area and provide necessary shuttering by using runners, ply and
doka with adequate support up to specified depth of concrete. .
 Supervisor should be familiar with the latest construction drawing and method statement.
 A program is to be prepared for the work in line with the main construction program.
 Plant and equipment will be assessed on case by case basis for each concreting location.
 Concrete bottom mark is checked by auto level.

b) Execution of works:

 The area to be concreted will be leveled, watered and rammed.
 Corner marking will be done by using total station and mark with lime powder.
 The proportion of cement, sand, coarse aggregate with water will be mixed as per approved design mix
in concrete plant based on quantity of concrete to be produce.
 The mixing of concrete ingredients generally done for adding water to cement. The quantity of water
shall be just sufficient to produce a dense concrete of required workability for the purpose.
 The concrete will be handled from the place of mixing to the final position within 3 hours either by
means of pumping or by transporting through dumpers based on volume of concrete.
 With the help of Auto level & staff and with respect to approved bench mark, a heap of concrete as
bulls/gauge will be provided for maintaining uniform thickness of concrete.
 Mixed concrete will be placed to appropriate location and leveled as per concrete bulls/gauge with help
of spade.
 The whole process of transporting, levelling and compacting of concrete will be done within 3 hours
 After final setting of concrete, the surface will be fully covered with gunny cloths and kept
continuously wet for 7days.

3) RCC FOR FOOTING:-

In generally a mix proportion of cement, sand coarse aggregate and water for different grade as specified in tender
for designated work location with reinforcement tied at location called R.C.C. The determination of the proportion
of cement, aggregate and water to attain the required grade of concrete will be made by designing the concrete mix.
Such concrete shall be called ‘Design mix concrete’.

SCOPE OF WORK:
 Cleaning & clearing unwanted debris from concreting area.
 Mixing of concrete by ready mix concrete.
 Transporting and placing of concrete.
 Compacting.
 Curing.
 Admixture as per tender specification

SPECIFIC. WORK METHOD STATEMENT: -


a) Preparation of works:
 Prior to commencement of work, clear the unwanted debris/loose material from concreting area.
 Establish the marks for height and level of concreting.
 A joint inspection will be done for orientation, shape, size, thickness of concrete.
 Supervisor should be familiar with the latest construction drawing and method statement.
 A program is to be prepared for the work in line with the main construction program.
 Plant and equipment will be assessed on case by case basis for each concreting location.

b) Execution of works:
i) SURVEY:- Footing, Column marking will be done on PCC surface as per drawing and checked
with consultant before start of steel tieing
ii) REINFORCEMENT: -

 Bar cutting and bending schedule will be submitted to PMC.


 Reinforcement bars will be cut and bent according to the bar bending schedule.
 The reinforcement will be tied using 18 GI binding wire (double binding).
 The cover to the reinforcement will be given as specified in drawing with PVC cover
blocks.
 Loose and unwanted material will be cleaned before placing the reinforcement.

iii) SHUTTERING: -
 The making of footing form work board shall be made by using 12mm of size
1220x2440mm water proofing plywood
 The form work casted and fixed by using the tie rod at 450c/c horizontally in 3
layer for height of the board
 The grid lines will be transferred to fix the form work accordingly.
 Shuttering material will be shifted manually or by tower crane.
 Shuttering will be done using clean & good shuttering forms as per required
level, line, shape and size.

 The joints of shuttering forms will be sealed with adhesive tape to prevent slurry
escape.
 Shuttering surface touching with concrete shall be oiled using suitable shuttering
oil.

 Adequate support and cross bracing will be provided by CT props to maintain the
vertical and horizontal of the form work
 Checking will be done for level, shape, size, support of shuttering.
 Scaffolding will done for concreting.
 Top level of concrete will be marked.

iv) CONCRETING: -

 The proportion of cement, sand, coarse aggregate with water will be mixed as per specific
grade in concrete plant.
 With the help of Auto level & staff or tube level and with respect to approved bench mark,
final level of concreting will be marked. Mixed concrete will be placed to appropriate
location and leveled with help of shovel and wooden mallet.
 Leveled concrete will be compacted layer by layer with needle vibrator to get the required
compaction.
 The whole process of transporting, levelling and compacting of concrete will be done as per
design mix of mixing cement with water to get the required compaction and to allow all the
interstices to be filled with mortar.
 The concrete will be handled from the place of mixing to the final position within 3 hours
either by means of pumping or by transporting through dumpers based on volume of
concrete.
 Slump to be checked before concreting.
 Cube to be casted for testing
 After final setting of concrete, the surface will be kept continuously wet for 10days.
 De-shuttering will be done after 24 hours.

4. BACKFILLING
Filling with excavated earth shall be done in regular horizontal layers each not exceeding 15 cm to 20 cm in
depth. Each layer shall be watered, leveled and consolidated. Layer shall also be consolidated with power roller of
minimum 8 tones/ vibratory power roller, wherever depth of filling exceeds 2.0 meter.

SCOPE OF WORK:
 Cleaning & clearing unwanted debris from filling area.
 Filling earth in 150 mm to 200 mm thick layers.
 Watering & consolidating.
 Recording depth of fillings.

 Checking for Proctor Density.

RESOURCES:

b) Preparation of works:

 Prior to commencement of work, clear the unwanted debris from filling area and establish marks for
filling level. Upon establishing filling level, a joint survey to check and record the data of filling is to be
carried out.
 Project engineer should be familiar with the latest construction drawing and method statement.
 A program is to be prepared for the work in line with the main construction program.
 Plant and equipment will be assessed on case by case basis for each backfilling & compaction location.
 Check the filling material and all lumps and clods exceeding 10 cm in any direction shall be broken.

c) Execution of works:

 Soil sample will be approved by PMC before commencement of work.


 Fill the area with approved soil in uniform layer not exceeding 200mm thick (loose soil) by using JCB
,Bobcat, Dumper, Mumpty, pan.

 Prior to consolidation, by using moisture meter or Oven, soil moisture content can be determined. Moisture
content of filling earth shall be bought to within plus or minus 2 % of the optimum moisture content as
described in IS: 2720 part VIII. The moisture content shall preferably be on the wet side for potentially
expansive soils.
 After adjusting the moisture content as described, the layers will thoroughly be compacted with mechanical
compaction machines till 95% of maximum laboratory dry density is obtained as per IS : 2720 part VIII
 Depth of compacted earth will be maintained to 150mm thick for single layer.
 After ensuring compaction is done evenly on filled area core cut samples will be collected as per IS standard
to ensure 95% Proctor density at OMC of filled/compacted earth.
 Successive layers of filling will not be placed until the layer under construction has been thoroughly
compacted to satisfy the requirements laid down in specification. (i.e. spreading in the layer of 150mm
thickness with compaction to achieve 97% maximum dry density at optimum moisture content as per
geotechnical report or compaction as per the plate load test requirements.)
 Above procedure will be continued for each layer and will bring the filling to required level and line.
 The finished level of the filling shall be trimmed to the level/slope as specified in the drawing.

5. COLUMN

A. REINFORCED CONCRETE:
In generally a mix proportion of cement, sand coarse aggregate and water for different grade as specified in
tender for designated work location with reinforcement tied at location called R.C.C. The determination of the
proportion of cement, aggregate and water to attain the required grade of concrete will be made by designing the
concrete mix. Such concrete shall be called ‘Design mix concrete’.

SCOPE OF WORK:

 Cleaning & clearing unwanted debris from concreting area.


 Mixing of concrete by ready mix concrete.
 Transporting and placing of concrete.
 Compacting.
 Curing.

SPECIFIC WORK METHOD STATEMENT: -


Preparation of works.
 Prior to commencement of work, clear the unwanted debris/loose material from concreting area.

 Establish the marks for height and level of concreting.
 A joint inspection will be done for orientation, shape, size, thickness of concrete.
 Supervisor should be familiar with the latest construction drawing and method statement.
 A program is to be prepared for the work in line with the main construction program.
 Plant and equipment will be assessed on case by case basis for each concreting location.
 Ensure all service related works like Electrical conducting, plumbing etc. are completed.

Execution of works:

a) REINFORCEMENT: -
 Column marking will be done and checked by consultant.
 Bar cutting and bending schedule will be submitted to PMC.
 Ensure Scaffolding is done with safe for use tag before binding of steel.
 Reinforcement bars will be cut and bent according to the bar bending schedule.
 The reinforcement will be tied using 18 G GI binding wire.
 The cover to the reinforcement will be given as specified in drawing with PVC cover blocks.
 Loose and unwanted material will be cleaned before placing the reinforcement.

a) SHUTTERING:
 Aluminum wrapped runner at Required length
 16mm thick water proofing plywood
 CI Column Clamp
 CT props

 The form work of column shall be installed to the starter casted


 The column box shall be joined together by means CI Column Clamp as shown in drawing.
 Shuttering will be done using clean & good shuttering forms as per required level, line,
shape and size.

 The joints of shuttering forms will be sealed with adhesive tape to prevent slurry escape.
 Shuttering surface touching with concrete shall be oiled using suitable shuttering oil.
 Adequate support and cross bracing will be provided by CT props to maintain the vertical and
horizontal of the form work
 Checking will be done for level, shape, size, support of shuttering
 Concrete top level will be marked

b) CONCRETING: -

 The proportion of cement, sand, coarse aggregate with water will be mixed as per specific grade in
concrete plant.
 With the help of Auto level & staff or tube level and with respect to approved bench mark, final
level of concreting will be marked. Mixed concrete will be placed to appropriate location and
leveled with help of shovel and wooden mallet.
 Concrete is laid in layer by layer.
 The whole process of transporting, levelling and compacting of concrete will be done as per
design mix of Mixing cement with water to get the required compaction and to allow all the
interstices to be filled with mortar,
 De-shuttering of column is done after 24 hours of concreting.
 After final setting of concrete, the surface will be kept continuously wet for 7days by hessian
clothes.

5. ROOF CONCRETE:-

In generally a mix proportion of cement, sand coarse aggregate and water for different grade as specified in
tender for designated work location with reinforcement tied at location called R.C.C. The determination of the
proportion of cement, aggregate and water to attain the required grade of concrete will be made By designing the
concrete mix. Such concrete shall be called ‘Design mix concrete’.

SCOPE OF WORK:

 Cleaning & clearing unwanted debris from concreting area.


 Mixing of concrete.
 Transporting and placing of concrete.
 Compacting.
 Curing.

EXECUTION OF WORK: -

a) Preparation of works:

 Clear the unwanted debris/loose material from concreting area.
 Establish the marks for height and level of concreting.
 A joint inspection will be done for orientation, shape, size, thickness of concrete.
 Supervisor should be familiar with the latest construction drawing and method statement.
 A program is to be prepared for the work in line with the main construction program.
 Plant and equipment will be assessed on case by case basis for each concreting location.
 Ensure adequate quantity of quarry material, water and cement is available at site.
 Ensure all service related works like Electrical conduiting, plumbing etc are completed.

b) SHUTTERING: -

 The grid lines will be transferred from the grid pillars to fix the form work accordingly.
 Before start of roof shuttering ensure all the columns are casted below beam bottom.
 Shuttering will be done using clean & good shuttering forms as per required level,line,shape and
size.
 The joints of shuttering forms will be sealed with adhesive tape to prevent slurry escape.
 Shuttering surface touching with concrete shall be oiled using suitable shuttering oil.
 Adequate support and cross bracing will be provided.
 Checking will be done for level, shape, size, support of shuttering.
 Ensure checking for each activity will given to PMC to proceed further works.
 Shuttering design for slab concrete will be attached.
 De shuttering Details For Each concrete element
 For Column , Walls , Vertical form works :24 Hours
 Soffit form works to slabs : 3 Days (Props to be refixed after removal)
 Soffit to Beams : 7 Days (Props to be refixed after removal)
 Spanning Up to 4.50m : 7 Days
 Spanning Over 4.50m : 14 Days

c) REINFORCEMENT: -
 Bar cutting and bending schedule will be submitted to PMC.
 Reinforcement bars will be cut and bent according to the bar bending schedule at yard.
 The reinforcement will be tied using 18 GI binding wire.
 Shifting of reinforcement will be done either by tower crane or by manually.

 Loose and unwanted material will be cleaned before placing the reinforcement
 The cover to the reinforcement will be given as specified in drawing with PVC cover blocks.
 Electrical coduit has to done before laying top reinforcement and get approval from PMC.

d) CONCRETING: -
 The area to be concreted will be leveled, watered.
 The proportion of cement, M.sand, coarse aggregate with water will be mixed as per design mix
report for specific grade in concrete plant based on quantity of concrete to be produce.
 The mixing of concrete ingredients generally done for after adding water to cement. The quantity
of water shall be just sufficient to produce a dense concrete of required workability for the
purpose.
 The concrete will be handled from the place of mixing to the final position within 3 hours either
by means of pumping or by transporting through dumpers based on volume of concrete.
 With the help of Auto level & staff or tube level and with respect to approved bench mark, final
level of concreting will be marked.
 Leveled concrete will be compacted with needle vibrator to get the required compaction.
 Ensure All structural concreting will be done in presence of PMC representative.
 We will ensure to attach safety permits for All above activities

e) POST-CONCRETING: -

 De-shuttering will be done by manually and material will be shift by mechanically or manually.
 After final setting of concrete, the surface will be fully covered with gunny cloths and kept
continuously wet for 10 days.
 Plumb, Line, Levels to be checked immediately after concreting work.
