HUMSS 12 – Venus

I. Introduction

Juan Miguel Severo is the one who do the Spoken Poetry in the advertisement of
“Walang Babala ang mga Pangarap”. He also showed in the movie of KathNiel entitled the
“How’s of us”. The “Walang Babala ang mga Pangarap” advertisement is published in
September 16, 2016 it is about workhard. We should do our best to be successful in life.

II. Summary

The “Walang Babala ang mga Pangarap” advertisement is to motivate people who
are experiencing difficulties in life. Because they can’t achieve their plans in the future. The
purpose of this advertisement is to inspire the people who are down to themselves and it
motivates the people to fight on what struggles they have.

III. Review/Critique

This advertisement gives people hope to continue their goals but they are struggling
so hard. The Spoken Poetry is giving them inspiration to fight and to achieve their success
in the future.

IV. Conclusion

We should do the task that is given to us. We don’t need to surrender when we
experience some difficulties in our lives while we are doing the task that is given to us. For
me surrendering can lead us to failure but if we have patience to do the task, that will lead
us to a better life and successful future.

1. The Setting of the story are the Catskill Mountain, Hudson River
and Town.

2. Characters

Rip Van Winkle – The Husband of Dam Van Winkle who

is good at helping others, good at hunting and fishing and
an industrious man.
Dame Van Winkle – The Nagging wife of Rip Van Winkle
Peter Vanderdonk – The Village’s oldest and most
knowledgeable man.
Henry Hudson – The First Dutch explorer of the Catskill
Mountain and the famed explorer who discovered the
Hudson River.
Rip Van Winkle – The Son of Rip Van Winkle that really
looks like him during his middle ages.

3. Plot of the Story

Exposition – Rip Van Winkle lives in a village in the

Catskill with his wife and children. He’s an easygoing man
with a nagging wife.
Rising Action – Because Dame Van Winkle nagged at Rip
Van Winkle in the town, he decided to escape and go to
Catskill Mountain where he met Henry Hudson and his
men. They drink until he falls into a long sleep.
Climax – Rip awakens and found out that many things
have changed. His beard is a foot long and the people in
the village do not recognized him. Even the political
climate changed and he found their house abandoned
without his wife. The villagers also changed and he can’t
find anyone he knows.
 Falling Action – The Villagers asked Rip Van Winkle
where he have been and he tells his story why he was
gone for so many years but the people seems not to
believe in him so they call upon the oldest and most
knowledgeable man in the village named Peter
Vanderdonk.
Denouement – Peter recognizes Rip and explains Rip’s
disappearance. He said that rip encountered Henry
Hudson who has a vigil every 20 years. People begin to
warm up to him and he continues to live his idle life he
had before.

7. It is okay to help other people but learn to love yourself also and
live happily.
8. I will change the scene where his wife died because I know a
person can still change and I hope she would, so that Rip Van Winkle
can escape from idleness and live happily with someone beside him.
9. The Author is a good man who’s experiencing trials in life and
maybe he also once forgotten by his love ones because that’s the
character mirrored in Rip Van Winkle.
10. Yes. Because he created a great twits in the story. At first, you
wouldn’t imagine that the main character can sleep for 20 years not
until he tells the reason why. He also made the readers feels like
hanging, waiting for the next scene to happen and every scene was
unexpected.

3. Plot

 Exposition – In the Catskill village there was a man named Rip

Van Winkle who has a nagging wife named Dame Van Winkle.
 Rising Action – Rip Van Winkle goes to the Mountain to escape
to his nagging wife. When the dawn came he decided to go
back and then he saw a man who is Henry Hudson.
 Climax – He fell asleep and when he woke up, everything has
changed. He doesn’t know that he fell asleep for 20 years but
for him it is only a day. Then he gets back to their village and
he saw that everything was different.
 Falling Action – The People in the village saw him and they
asked Rip what happened to him. Rip answered their question
but the villagers don’t believe in him.
 Denouement – The People call upon the oldest and most
knowledgeable man in the village who’s Peter Vanderdonk.
Peter believes on Rip and he explained to the villagers what
happened in the mountain. The story of Rip became popular to
the world but the people in their village were the only ones who
believed in it.

7. We should take care of ourselves and think before we do what we plan and we can
help other people but we need to help ourselves first.

8. If I will be given a chance to change the story, I will make it that the story of Rip will not
just known by the world but also I want them to believe in it.

9. The Characteristic showed by the author was being a lonely and isolated person who’s
having hardships in life.

10. Yes. Because he taught us the reality that not all the things we have now will not stay
forever.

I. Introduction

The commercial of Bear Brand Adult Plus entitled “Walang Babala ang mga
Pangarap” is delivered by Juan Miguel Severo. He is a Spoken Word artist who was
known for his “hugot” pieces but it is not only heartaches that he writes about. Juan
Miguel Severo is also a Filipino actor who came to fame playing Rico on the comedy
series “On the Wings of Love”. He received increased attention for his spoken word art
when his piece “Ang Huling Tula na Isusulat ko para sa’Yo” went viral in 2015. This
commercial was published on September 16, 2016 by Nestle Philippines that gives
positivity in times of hardships.

II. Summary

“Walang Babala ang mga Pangarap” is a motivational commercial for those

people who are losing their hope to reach their goals. It shows that every person can
choose whatever job they want to have but the consequences of it is not predictable.
They can always regret in the end but it is better to keep on going. Life is full of trials,
obstacles and difficulties and no one can be an exemption to it. This commercial gives
hope to those people who think that they will never be able to achieve their goals and
they are at the peak of giving up. This also serves as a reminder that everything is
possible only if you work hard and do your best.

III. Review Critique

It is indeed a great commercial for all because everybody in this world has a lot
of dreams and aspirations. The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at
hand and the determination that whether you win or lose, we have applied the best of
ourselves. Nobody said the road to success will be easy but if you believe in yourself,
everything will be successful in the end.

IV. Conclusion

We can always regret in the end, but after you went on from all the trials in life,
you can finally achieve your dream and be happy. Nothing in this world is easy. You
cannot get things easily without sweat but if you keep on believing, you will succeed.
Experiences make people stronger, they just have to get along with it and take it
positively.
