STP Leak Test

The document outlines leak test procedures for water tanks in accordance with ACI 372R (2013) and AWWA D110. The procedures specify that the liquid loss over 24 hours cannot exceed 0.05% of the tank volume. They also specify how to calculate initial and final volume, and how to conduct leak tests which involve filling tanks with non-potable water and measuring water levels before and after 24 hours to check for leaks. A note is included that pressure slabs without waterproofing poured previously in the STP area may have higher than standard liquid loss.

LEAK TEST PROCEDURES:

In accordance with ACI 372R (2013) and AWWA D110, the liquid loss in 24 hrs. of period should
not exceed 0.05 percent of the tank volume.

Initial Volume x 0.0005 = Liquid Loss 1 (ACI 372R (2013) and AWWA D110)

Initial Volume- Final Volume = Liquid loss 2

1. The tank shall be filled with non potable water to the certain level or the level should not
greater than 1.00 meter and less than 0.5 meter from the tip of tank. It should not exceed the
total Air volume of the tank which 10% of total volume of tank.
2. The level shall be measured from the tip or bottom of the tank.
3. Once the level were reach the owner or any representative of the owner including the
contractor will do observation over the perimeter wall of concrete tank if there any leak on
concrete tank.
4. After 24 hrs, Take the level again of the water from the tip or bottom of the tank.

History of Pressure Slab:

The Pressure Slab that poured in STP area does not have a waterproofing so there would be a
possible that the liquid loss will be higher than the standard. This issue where discuss before from the
previous meeting.
