9 Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

For the body

1 Corinthians- 12 : 8 to 11
For to one is given by the Spirit the WORD of Wisdom; to another the WORD of Knowledge by
the same Spirit; To another FAITH by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of HEALING by the
same Spirit; To another the working of MIRACLES; to another PROPHESY; to another
DISCERNING of spirits; to another DIVERS kinds of TONGUES; to another the
INTERPRETATION of tongues;

DO NOT PUT THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE

You must desire some of these gifts so you can grow and edify fellow believers, not for selfish
reasons but as God knows what is right and good for you.
You must first desire ALL of what God wants for you, not just salvation only.

Luke - 11 : 9 to 13
And I say unto you, ASK and it shall be given unto you; SEEK and ye shall find; KNOCK and it
shall be opened unto you; For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to
him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will
he give him a stone? or if he ask for a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? or if he shall ask
an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your
children: how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

1Corinthians 12:11
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

If you are going to drive on a vacation, it would be nice to have a vehicle to drive first. So it is
with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. In order to live a victorious life in Christ Jesus, you must first be
baptized or filled with the Holy Spirit. The book of Acts is full of how people were filled with
the Spirit and what the sign of the in filling is.
All receive the well portion of the Holy Spirit when they are born again.

John 4.14
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I
shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

There are many churches that quit here and say that tongues and prophesy will cease, quoting the
scripture in,
1Corinthians 13:8
Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues,
they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
BUT They forget to read verse 10, this refers to when Christ returns to earth in the 1000 year
reign of Christ
1Corinthians 13:8
But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

Jesus foretold of the baptism of the Holy Ghost & gave his deciples power;
Matthew - 3 :11
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I,
whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.
Matthew - 10 : 1
He gave them power over unclean spirits to cast them out and to heal all manner of sickness and
diseases
Acts -1 : 8
Ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you.
Luke - 24 : 49
Tarry ye in Jerusalem. Till ye be endued with power from on high.
John - 14 : 26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall
teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
The gifts DO NOT make you a better Christian, Just better equipped.

The Holy Spirit is the Power of God and is the giver and not the gift.

The Word of Wisdom - Notice - a word not all but for a specific reason.

Do not confuse this with the secular or mans wisdom or what you have learned through a
Seminar. The word of wisdom is a supernatural wisdom given at a specific time, for a specific
need. There are three kinds of wisdom. Divine wisdom, Human or natural wisdom, & the
wisdom of Satin

EXAMPLE of JESUS talking to the women at the well

John - 4 : 17-18
The women answered, I have no husband; Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said I have no
husband. For thou hast had five husbands and he whom thou now hast, is not thy husband.
John - 4 : 28-29
The women left and went into the City and saith unto the men; Come see a man which told me
all things that I did. Is this not the Christ.
Other examples Luke 9: 47, Matthew 9: 4

Jesus said that the Holy Ghost is the teacher.

John - 14 : 26
But the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall
teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto
you.

1Corinthians- 2 : 11 to 16
For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the
things of God knoweth no man, but the spirit of God. Now we have not received the spirit of the
world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know thethings that are freely given to us of
God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which mans wisdom teacheth, but which the
Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth
not the things of the spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them,
because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is
judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we
have the mind of Christ.

THE WORD OF KNOWLEDGE

Or a fragment of divine knowledge and is not of human learning, it is the supernatural

impartation of facts which the individual at the moment has no way of learning by natural means.
Again!!! it’s not all knowledge, but for a specific need.

To reveal the hidden secrets of men.

1Corinthians- 14 : 25
And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will
worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.

The gift of the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge are very closely knit. All the gifts
exercised through the believers, is done so by Faith.

Hebrews - Chapter 11: All of it.

V-1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

V-6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that
he is; and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

God has implanted a measure of faith in everyone.

Ephesians - 2:8
For by Grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.
(do not confuse this with the gift of faith in 1Cor. - 12:8-11 which will be discussed later)

Romans - 12:3
For I say; through the grace given unto me; to every man that is among you, not to think of
himself more highly then he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to
every man the measure of faith.

The measure of faith given to all, can and will grow as we exercise it. As a child learns to crawl
or walk, so must we learn to grow in faith.

2 Corinthians - 10:15
Not boasting of things without our measure, that is of other men's labors; but having hope, when
your faith is increased.

Luke - 17:5
And the Apostles said unto the Lord; Increase our faith.

Romans - 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
 Mans knowledge and the traditions of man do not teach faith, but rather the opposite, mans
reasoning, explanations & foolishness. Jesus said we are to be like children . In other words a
little child does not doubt or question there dad or mom, they either trust them or not. There is no
gray area or reasoning in them, until they get a little older and are told by man or teachers, that
their parents are all wrong and what they say is not for today.

Matthew - 18:3
And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall
not enter into the kingdom of Heaven.
In other words child like faith.

Gift of faith
Again, this is not to be confused with everyday faith we have been talking about. But rather a
supernatural faith. Given at a specific time for a specific reason.

Matthew 21:18-20
Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.
And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves
only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward forever. And presently the fig tree
withered away.
And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!

Whatever the prayer is for, need, healing or a mountain to be removed. When the Gift of faith is
given, you know that you know it will happen.
No second thoughts or doubts. You just know that God has it in control.
Don’t go back and pray for it again, because in so doing, your telling God he wasn’t correct in
giving you the assurance. You are allowed and encouraged to thank Him and Praise Him tho.

Gift of healing
Mark 16:17-18
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall
speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall
lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

James 5:14-15
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him,
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up;

The gift of healing is just that, healing. It can be a sickness, a relationship or whatnot. A
supernatural HEALING is not instantaneous, but is much much faster then natural healing. There
are some things that can not be naturally healed.

Working of Miracles
Acts 3:6-8
Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of
Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones
received strength.
And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and
leaping, and praising God.

Matthew 8:1-3
When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.
And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou cast make
me clean.
And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately
his leprosy was cleansed.

A miracle is just that, a miracle. It can be a healing that's instant or cancer dried up or something
that can not be obtained naturally. It is creative and will always draw attention or give glory to
God and his power and salvation. Gift of miracles is for a sign to the weak or unbelieving.

Prophecy
1. To reveal by divine inspiration.
2. To predict with certainty as if by divine inspiration.

Prophecy is for the edification of the church or believers in Christ. The Spirit has no
denominational barriers like man does.
You can be told future happenings, confirmation of what the Spirit has already shared with you,
correction or gifts imparted.
A true prophet will have the gift of prophecy in operation in their ministry

1 Timothy 4:14
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the
hands of the presbytery.

In a gathering of Christians, prophesying should be one at a time, not all at one time. Also one
prophesies by faith. You have control to speak or keep quite.

1Corinthians 14:29-32
Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

The Gift is operated by faith. You usually have a few words in your head, and as you say them
(by faith) the rest is given to you as you start, by the Holy Spirit.
2Peter 1:20-21
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they
were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Romans 12:6
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us
prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

Discerning of Spirits

This gift has a very important function for the successful operation of the rest of the gifts.
Through this gift, you will know just what your dealing with, the spirit of jealousy, anger, lust,
lying, religion etc. and can cut right to the heart of the matter

Timothy 5:22
Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.
1John 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false
prophets are gone out into the world.

Divers Kinds of Tongues
Different kinds of tongues. NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE TONGUES you receive
when receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
The gift of tongues requires an interpretation or may be understood by someone of a different
language then us. You may also have the gift of interpretation or someone else may have.
The gift of tongues is for edification of the church, as well as a sign for the unbeliever.
Acts 2:4-8
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the
Spirit gave them utterance.
And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because
that every man heard them speak in his own language.
And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which
speak Gal-i-lae’-ans?
And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

Now the tongues you receive when you receive the infilling or baptism of the Holy Ghost has
NO interpretation. As a mater of fact, the only one who can understand, is God himself. It is the
Holy Spirit, making intercessory prayer for you.

Romans 8:26-27
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities; for we know not what we should pray for as we
ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh
intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
1Corinthians 14:14
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.

Acts 19:6
And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake
with tongues, and prophesied.

Interpretation of Tongues

Just what it says, the interpretation of the gift of tongues. It operates much similar to the gift of
prophecy. All gifts of the Holy Ghost are received and operated by faith.

Hebrews 11:6

is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to all that ask and are given as He wills. He says to covet the best gift
and that translates, the best gift or gifts that He knows is best for our life or ministry.

1corinthians 12: 29-31

Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
