Raci Chart

The RACI chart is a tool that identifies roles and responsibilities against tasks within a project. It stands for R (responsible), A (accountable), C (consulted), and I (informed) to define whether a role or person is responsible for, accountable for, should be consulted on, or informed about a task. The RACI chart maps tasks and deliverables to roles to avoid confusion and help ensure projects are completed on time, on budget and to the required quality level by clearly defining expectations.

RACI CHART

The RACI chart is a tool that identifies roles and responsibilities against tasks within a
project.
It stands for:
R: responsible
This person is responsible for getting the work done or making the decision.
A: accountable
This person or role is responsible for the overall completion of the task or deliverable. They
won’t get the work done but are responsible for making sure it’s finalized.
C: consulted
This person, role or group will provide information useful to completing the task or
deliverable.
I: informed
These people or groups will be kept up to date on the task or deliverable.

The RACI maps tasks and deliverables against roles on your project, helping you avoid
confusion over those roles and responsibilities during the project.
Without clearly defined roles and responsibilities, it is easy for projects to run into trouble.
When people know what management expect of them, it is easier for them to complete
their work on time, within budget and to the right level of quality.
