Exercise 1

Luminous objects produce their own light, while non-luminous objects do not. The book being read is a non-luminous object that is being lit by a nearby luminous object like a lamp or the sun. Three non-luminous objects that could be classified are a table, chair, and wall. When thunder and lightning occur, we see the flash of lightning before hearing the thunder because light travels faster than sound. The closer the lightning is to the observer, the shorter the time between seeing the flash and hearing the thunder.
