MID-COURSE ROLE-PLAYS
UNIT 1:
Student A: You want to ask about an elementary English course. Talk to the receptionist at the
language center.

 Say what you would like to do.


 Ask when the first lesson is.
 Ask how often the class meets.
 Ask where the lesson is.
 Ask who the teacher is.
 Ask how many students there are in the class.
 Ask how much the tuition is.
 Book a place.
Student B: You’re a receptionist at a language center. Here’s some information about an
elementary English course:

 First lesson: 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm next Monday


 Class meets: every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
 Place: room 101
 Teacher: Mr. Donald Trump
 Number of students: no more than 10
 Tuition fees: $100 per month
 To book a place, you need the student’s name and phone number.

UNIT 2:
Student A: You’re at student B’s home for the weekend. You’d like to do the following things:

 have something to drink


 use your friend’s cell phone
 use your friend’s computer
 watch TV
 have a shower
Say why you want to do these things.
Student B: Student A’s at your home for the weekend. You’re good friends but you don’t like it
when other people use your things, especially your cell phone and computer.
UNIT 3:
Student A: You want to eat out with student B on Saturday night. Use the following information
and invite student B.

 Place: Yummy restaurant


 Time: 7:00 pm
 What to eat: grilled chicken, Thai curry, seafood hot pot, and chocolate ice cream
 What to drink: beer
Student B: You aren’t free this Saturday night because you have an English class. You’re free on
Sunday night though. You don’t like food that is too spicy or too sweet. You cannot drink beer,
but you love fruit juice.

UNIT 4:
MENU
Appetizers
Seafood soup
Grilled chicken
Fried fish in lemon sauce
Roast lamb

Entrées
Thai hot pot
Beef steak with roast potatoes
Spaghetti with tomato sauce
Egg and vegetable pie

Student A: You’re a customer at a restaurant. Order a meal from the menu.


Student B: You’re a waiter/waitress at the restaurant. Take the order.
UNIT 5:

Student A: You’re at the health club on Green Street. You want to get to the café, street
vendor, and subway entrance. Ask student B for directions.
Student B: Give directions to student A.

UNIT 6:
Student A: You call Leo to invite him to a movie but he isn’t there. Leave a message with student B.
Student B: Take student A’s message. Then play Leo and call student A back.
