the farm should be good inspiration but walking them through the mechanics of tour organizing
for a substantial period of time is better. As a group, think of which should come first and kindly
discuss/explain your thoughts on this with supporting related literature following proper APA
citation. Mechanics for tour organizing are best for farmers to pursue as a stepping stone for
farm tourism marketing. The Department of Tourism adopted the idea of the farm tourism
concept. Wherein farmers have to know that their crops and farm setting, it can make a huge
beneficiary agent in gaining extra income through showcasing what and how farm activities
happen in a daily life basis. Farm tourism attracts visitors out of production, education, and
recreational purposes of outdoor recreation and accessibility for family outings (Fuentes,
2016). The plan ensures that all the elements line up with customers, communication or
outreach, marketing messages and budget (Short, 2009). Farmers and tour operators play a
crucial role in making commercial packages viable. Organizing is a step one procedure that
organizes a procedure plan. Potential management strategies addressing the impacts in
different impact zones are further discussed (Kline, Cardenas, Leung, & Sanders, 2007). In
achieving the needs in attaining farm tourism is through the act created from the Farm Tourism
Development Board under the Department of Tourism (DOT) and Department of Agriculture
secretaries shall formulate and set the overall direction in implementing a Farm Tourism
Strategic Action Plan. In regards to investment promotion and financing. Department of
Tourism (DOT), Department of Agriculture (DA), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)
will take charge of cooperating links with stakeholders within the farm tourism industry.
Farmers or agriculturists with higher educational attainment may start with conducting
seminars, training and workshops of agricultural products and activities, by small-scale
farmers. Marketing plan helps pinpoint strengths so one can build on them and weaknesses
can address before it becomes a true liability.

4. Poor rural infrastructure may not be so much of an obstacle in promoting farm tourism. Kindly
discuss/explain your thoughts on this with supporting related literature following proper APA
citation. Tourism is a major redistributor of resources within the domestic sector with multiplier
effects. Farm tourism encompasses a set of economic activities with tremendous potential for
future domestic earnings and regional development. Pigram and Jenkins (1994) argue that the
sensitive nature of the rural sector to Gross Domestic Product employment and incomes have
allowed rural tourism to gain greater prominence. Farm tourism conducts on working farms
where the working environment forms part of the product from the perspective of the consumer
(Roberts and Hall, 2001). Farm tourism can include accommodations such as farm visitor
centers, galleries, museums, farm shops for produce and crafts, guided walks and farm trails,
educational visits, farm activities, such as mustering, fruit picking, horse riding and fishing and
food and beverage outlets. Hall et al (2003) argue that, there is an increasing need for some
consumers to reconnect with the countryside as a source of recreation and relaxation, offering
peace, solitude, fresh air and wide-open spaces.
5. Low agricultural production remains a major cause of high rural poverty incidence in the
Philippines. How can farm tourism alleviate this problem? Kindly discuss/explain your thoughts
on this with supporting related literature following proper APA citation. According to a research
group, the Philippines has top among the world’s agricultural tourism destinations following the
sector’s push for more revenue streams for farmers. But despite that news, long-term
agricultural gap has become one of the major cause of poverty in the Philippines. To whom
which also has affected job creation and processed exports. Common problems encountered
by rice farmers are high cost of inputs, low price of rice, lack of capital, labor problem, lack of
post-harvest facilities, pest and diseases and irrigation system (Arida, 2009). Low prices of rice
and high cost of inputs do not conform to the expected value of income. Addressing the actual
problems and needs of rice farmers would enhance agricultural productivity, thus leads us to
rice, self-sufficient country. Similarly, linkage and support services among rice and other farm
product stakeholders should be strengthened to prevent problems in farming.
