Brain chips allow for a direct connection between the brain and a computer. They consist of a small silicon chip implanted in the brain that detects electrical signals from neurons. INTRODUCTION
• The brain chip technology is associated with a brain computer
interface chip, computer and brain.
• The brain chip is so called because it is implantable computer
chip in brain.
• Brain Chip’s consist of both biological and electronic terms.
• The study on neural implants i.e brain chip was started early in 1970
by a yale professor named Jose Manuel Rodriguez Delgado.
WHAT ARE BRAIN CHIP’S?
• Brain Chip’s are hybrid entities where Chip’s
and nerve cells establish a Close physical
interaction allowing the transfer of
information in one or both directions.
• Brain Chip’s provide fast and reliable
Connection between the brain Of severely
disabled person and computer.

THE CHIP
• A four millimeter Square silicon Chip
studded with 100 hair-thin ,micro electrodes
is embedded in brain’s primary motor cortex.
• The sensor detects tiny electical signals
generated when a user imagines.
THE CONNECTOR

• The signal from the brain is transmitted


through the pedestal plug attached to
the skull.
THE CONVERTOR

• The convertor converts the brain signals


into wireless data for the purpose
of action.
• The signal travels to an amplifier where
it is converted to an optic data and
and bounded by fibre-optic cable to a
Computer.
THE COMPUTER

• A brain-computer interface uses electro


physiological signals to control remote
devices.
• The electrodes pick up the brain’s
electrical activity (at the microvolt
level) and carry it into amplifiers.
• These amplifiers amplify the signal
approximately 1000 times and then pass
the signal via an analog to digital
convertor to a computer for processing.
WORKING

• The nerve cells in our brain are receiving,


interpreting and responding to the bombardment
of Information.
• They produce impulses as electric signals.
• These electric signals are received by the chip
and this chip convert these signals to human
understandable language by means of
Computer.
SOFTWARE BEHIND BRAIN CHIP
• Software behind braingate system uses algorithms and Pattern
matching techniques to facilitate communication.
• The algorithms are written in C, JAVA and MATLAB.
• Signal processing software algorithms analyses the electrical
activity of neurons and translates it into control signals for use in
various computer – based applications.
ADVANTAGES
• Allow paralyzed people to control prosthetic limbs with their mind.
• Allow gamers to control video games with their minds.
• Allow a mental person to have their displayed and spoken by a
computer.
• Mental type writer.
DISADVANTAGES

• Research is in still beginning stages.


• Electrodes outside of the skull can detect very few electric sigals
from the brain.
• Electrodes placed inside the skull create scar tissue in the brain.
CONCLUSION

• Brain chip technology is a technolog which involves communication


based on neural activity generated by brain .
• It gives paralyzed patient greater ability to interact with their
environments.
• The brain gate neural interface creates direct link Between person’s
brain and a computer ,translating neural activity into action.
